Because I have an artificial joint I take 600mg of Clindamycin Prior to dental work. I han root canal done on a tooth under a permanent bridge a year ago by a General Dentist. One hour start to finish. It was infected, but I was never given any additional antibiotics. Since that time had an ongoing foul taste and odor when I used Water Flosser daily. The adjacent tooth became infected and also required a root canal. This time done by an Endadontist.
About a week ago after I finished the clindamycin I had absolute crazy diarrhea, abdominal pain(mostly radiating from my right side) and loss of appetite. I was tested for cdiff. By my dr and the test came back -. My GI seems to think I my gallbladder was the culprit sent me for an ultrasound and that came back - for gallbladder problems. It did point out that I have a slightly fatty liver though. Can an ultrasound miss gallbladder issues?
m getting lower right jaw pain where I can feel a bump forming underneath the molar when I run my clean finger along the gum line that is tender. Lost my job 2 months ago and I'm seeking another. Meanwhile I applied for the Maryland exchange program and dental services do not cover root canal treatment. I was prescribed clindamycin after experiencing pain in my tooth after a root canal. I took a double dose (600mg) of clindamycin as I missed a dose. I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. I did take my nexium but I have felt absolutely no relief whatsoever.
He has taken a multitude of oral antibiotics --Amoxil 875 Mg 2x day for 14 days, to straight penicillin, Rifampin 300 Mg 2x day for 10 days, Clindamycin. Nothing seems to rid him of these nodules or lower his ASO titer. Overall crummy feeling most of the time. Headaches, leg aches, joint aches, back ache, neck ache. I am now being told he may have an autoimmune disorder. Any suggestions?
About 5 weeks ago I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed, and the oral surgeon prescribed me Clindamycin to prevent infection. A day or two after I finished my prescription I noticed that I wiped up a little blood on the toilet paper after going to the bathroom. I looked it up on the internet, and it said blood from the rectum could possibly be due to antibiotics, so I thought no big deal. I was also taking Ibuprofin and Vicodin for pain during the antibiotics.
went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Try this. Grab a Q-tip and bite on it and see if theres pain on the tooth. That'll help you isolate the pain. If it hurts in the ear and jaw joint, I would then suspect that there may be a problem with the TMJ or other area. Do you have a problem opening and closing the mouth?
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.
I had missed one dose of the clindamycin. The er doctor gave me again clindamycin via iv. My face swelled up again but started pussing at my gums after a while. She told me to keep taking it despite the swelling and sent me home with a follow up oral surgeon. I didn't take it all night and my face had gone down to half the size by morning! It felt so much better and lighter. I couldnt get a hold of my dentist or the oral surgeon to ask their opinion on continuing with this antibiotic.
ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.

it rubbed against my shirt and/or coat collar and became infected (after I picked at it). Now it is infected with swelling and pain going down the side of my neck almost to the collarbone. I went to see a healthcare professional (a nurse that can prescribe medication) and she determined that Clindamycin is the best antibiotic since I'm allergic to Penicillin. My worry is that it might not be strong enough and the infection will get worse. What should I do? Thanks!
I had some teeth extracted and had a bit of discomfort a few days after. I am allergic to Penicillin, so my oral surgeon prescribed Clindamycin 150mg 4 times daily, for 7 days.(November 5th )
Mouth pain went away and about the first week of December (one month later) and up to this date, i have lose stools, not quite diarreha but they are soft and accompanied by mucous like substance. Stress has always been a big part of my life, but never a problem so i am ruling that out.
the main reason is that the clindamycin is a very powerful antibiotic (my doctor put me on 450mg of clindamycin) the down side is clindamycin can kill everything in your body. that includes the good bacteria in your intestine called gut flora. if the good bacteria dies it can make way for a bad bacteria that's immune to clindamycin to grow in your intestine. eating the yogurt (especially yogurts with "probiotics" in them) will help keep your gut flora levels up right now.
Since i told him I didn't want to take the Clindamycin because it made me so ill, he prescribed Cephalexin. Does anybody know anything about this drug? I looked it up and it said it is similar to penicillen. Will it work since the penicillen didn't? Sorry to sound so paranoid, but my dentist is not very easy to talk to about this and I am so scared. I hate when people/doctors think you're exaggerating. Believe me, I want to find a drug that will take care of this!
t get me in for three weeks, so my regular dentist gave me Clindamycin 300MG 3X a day. I have been taking it for four days. Since then my check has gone from no swelling to so swollen I can hardly open my mouth. The pain at the site of the tooth is gone but there is still a lot of pressure above the tooth (#14). What do you think may be going on? Thanks in advance for your view & ideas.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
I am 27 year old male, in September 2017 I suffered from an acute throat infection so my ENT doctor gave me clindamycin and since then I am having acute diarrhea with pain in my lower abdomen. The pain starts and I feel the urgent need of going for bowel movement and as soon as I am done the pain goes away. There is no blood in the stool but it watery all the time and yellow in color. This happens about 4-5 times daily.
It did not just cause a little bit of discomfort, I was doubled over in pain! The doctor who had prescibed it to me told me to discontinue it immediately when I explained my symptoms and gave me a different antibiotic. Now, I am scared to death because the Pennicillen is not working and I know that he is going to prescribe the Clindymiacin. I cannot take it!!! Is there any other antibiotic he could prescibe that wouldn't make me so sick and miserable?
