Thing is, blood work I had 5 days ago when I got started taking my clindamycin and bactrum now shows that I have no signs of infection in my blood, from CBC to my C-Protein. The redness is not gone and will turn dark red before going back to a lighter shade when i move my toe around like when I am walking, but I have no other symptoms whatsoever, and I feel totally normal head to toe. I would be appreciated if a few of you could take the time to give me your medical opinion.
Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???

Well, I've been told that taking probiotics like actimel (or activa in the US) will help. I sent the boyfriend out to buy some and downed two single serving little bottles as soon as he got back. I assure you it's not in my head, but in a matter of minutes I was pretty much cured. Now a whole new question arises from the situation. Does taking probiotics with antibiotics contradict each other in any way? The last thing I want to be doing is screwing with my care.
My 2 year old got a Stye last week and my husband took him to the Dr. He was prescribed Clindamycin. This seems very strong to me and I don't really see much on the internet as this being something prescribed. Can you tell my why this might be prescribed by a doctor in a pediatric patient with his first stye?

Thanks for your comments. The pain has subsided greatly today but the swelling is still there but not as bad. I have a seperate little mound of swelling under my eye. It was a light purple-ish in color but seems less so today. It seems better today also, although I can still "see" it, meaning that I can see it in my vision. Since you mention cellulitis, that makes more sense.
he told me it was the skin infection Cellulitis and He immediately gave me an Intravanous in hospital and Clindahexal (clindamycin) and Bactroban topical cream. The clindahexal is a very strong dose (8 a day) at a 12 day course. I saw rapid results from the IV and the healing of the infection slowed down drastically a day or two later.
So I went back and got another IV about a week later and a 3rd one the following day, as it was showing rapid results.
I just wanted to mention that since you took bacterim (sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim) which is a sulfa drug and clindamycin is a different class of drugs. Sulfa drugs are known to cause allergies in many people. It was probably that drug but could be both.
So be careful to not use any sulfa drugs or clinidamycin.
So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.
My daughter had a sore on the outside of her ear, was looked at for 2 min. in urgent care and prescribed clindamycin e150 mg pills....3 pills 3x per day (12 pills) she is 15 and 119 lbs. Was not diagnosed with ANYTHING. odds are this is a hsv1 infection on your breasts. if it's a new infection for you, it might not show up on the igg blood test for a few weeks or months ( if at all ). odds are this is a newly acquired infection - from your lack of prior history of similar symptoms on your breast. it would've come from your husband's mouth whether he had an obvious cold sore or not ( or if he can even recall ever having had one ).
Have had unprotected sex couple of times but test hiv - in june 08. i just found out she has these acne like spot on her face and shoulder. She say it body ance. I read the bottle of cream she uses and its Clindamycin. I looked it up and it say it is use to treat acne and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus common in people who are hiv + ? She also has vigoligo. Couple week ago i broke out with the same kind of acne she has.
ve went to the doctor last Sunday (July 31st) and have been taking antibiotics (Clindamycin) for the past 10 days (still taking them) and I just got my recheck today (August 9th). I feel way much better. No pain, no fevers, etc. The abscess is really small, like dots. I asked if it was contagious when I was there and the person I asked told me "as long as you're getting better, it shouldn't be contagious".
Hi everyone! I've had cellulitis for a many months now. My doctor first put me on Bactrim, and I had a rash all over my body and developed a fungal infenction as well. This was on day 8 of 10 on Bactrim. The doctor switched me to Keflex, and this time, that same day I got another rash all over my body. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes.
Has this happened to anyone?
I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.

i was on treatment of 2500 mg of antibiotic for 10 days for cellulitis...during treatment i was having diarrhea, nausea which i was told it was from treatment. i completeed treatment 1 week ago and i am still having nausea occasional vomit of mucous, loose stools and occasional severe abdominal cramps.. some days worse than others. could all of those mg of antibiotics have done damage to my stomach or intestant?
It has been over 3 years since I had cellulitis from injections in my neck and base of skull. I also have experienced chronic fatigue and a general decline in my overall health. At first my whole body swelled up. I was on IV antibiotics then switched to oral for a few months. Any insight would be appreciated.
Usually Haemophilus parainfluenzae is a bacteria that is normal to have in your mouth. So somehow it got into a wound or cut in the mouth or open area and caused a wound that abscessed. Do you know if they did an anaerobic culture as well? This is to look at bacteria that grow without oxygen. These are also found in the mouth and wounds.The beta-lactamase negative means it is not resistant to penicillin types of antibiotics. So that is good news. Does it still hurt and do you have a fever now?
the next day the culture came back regular staph--not MRSA, but ER doc though cellulitis looked worse and called surgeon in to take a look. he poked around, said it was fine--and they had me start goping to wound care the next day. the cellulitis moved another inch down my arm after the surgeon poked around. I have been going to wound care for 2 1/2 weeks. I ran out of septra, but was still running a fever and still draining pus.
But this time the doctor gave me Clindamycin and the bacteria is going away in the tonsils but not in the back of the throat yet. So I made an appointment next week just in case it is still there and I would have to take prednisone all over again?
I get cronic sinus infections and right now I currently have sinus pressure in the sinus area next to my right eye along the nose and below my right eye. I've had allergies pretty much the whole summer. Yesturday I noticed my eye socket felt werid when I would roll my eyes. It felt like the tissue or muscles that move my eye felt tight with some pressure. I went to the doctor and he looked at my eye and he said there was no noticeable inflamation and my eye appeared to be moving fine.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
