went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.
I was prescribed clindamycin after experiencing pain in my tooth after a root canal. I took a double dose (600mg) of clindamycin as I missed a dose. I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. I did take my nexium but I have felt absolutely no relief whatsoever.
i have a good idea about this, i had the same problem about 3 weeks ago. an infection has entered that tooth and caused an abscess. the pressure from the abscess has pushed the infection down into soft tissue and most likely infected the saliva glands (thus the swollen cheek) ibuprofen will help pain and some inflamation but the infection MUST be treated with antibiotics or it could spread to your neck, throat, or bloodstream and become life threatening.
I have clindamycin 300 mg, can I safely double up todays med intake. To be painfree for Christmas plans tomorrow??
I was prescribed Vicodin and Clindamycin. I forgot to take the Climdamycin for the first two days, but picked it up immediately on day three. By the end of day three I found myself in EXCRUCIATING pain that 2 Vicodins couldn't ease and my face was still very swollen even after taking Clindamycin. I was so sick to my stomach due to the Clindamycin that I called my doctor to ask for something else less upsetting on day four. He prescribed Keflex instead.
The pain is in the gum around the tooth all the way into my jaw. I have been taking clindamycin four days now. I cannot feel an absess. Could this just be a tooth infection?
They did a re-treatment on the tooth. My dentist had put on me on pain meds and amoxicillin. two days after the retreatment I was in horrible pain. I went back to the endo to have an I&D done. My face was very swollen for two days. They then switched my meds to clindamycin(2 rounds) The swelling has gone away mostly but there is still a little swollen area near the tooth where the I&D was done. Every day it is an improvement but it still hurts.
t get me in for three weeks, so my regular dentist gave me Clindamycin 300MG 3X a day. I have been taking it for four days. Since then my check has gone from no swelling to so swollen I can hardly open my mouth. The pain at the site of the tooth is gone but there is still a lot of pressure above the tooth (#14). I am curious about the answer you will receive from the doctor on this forum regarding your question concerning Clindamycin; because, I had been prescribed two rounds of it for a tooth abcess. They were approx. 3 weeks apart. The tooth had since been pulled out a long time ago; but, I developed a sudden increase in PVC's 24/7 during the treatment time with this anitbiotic and have had PVC's since.
t see any overt break and put her on clindamycin for 14 days. I was instructed to watch for infection and she was caught up on all her shots and had a general wellness check up.
Can anyone tell me what will happen next? What will happen to her tooth and what happens after the antibiotics are finished? Any tips on what to look for? I sure don't want her in pain.

Try this. Grab a Q-tip and bite on it and see if theres pain on the tooth. That'll help you isolate the pain. If it hurts in the ear and jaw joint, I would then suspect that there may be a problem with the TMJ or other area. Do you have a problem opening and closing the mouth?
I came across this post while searching for a remedy for my tooth ache. I hope all is well with you now. Your post is almost four years old. I took ibuprofen 3 caplets of 220 mg and cephalexin 500 mg and got some relief after an hour. I also bit into half a clove of garlic with my hurting tooth. I slowly/very gently chewed on it. It is sort of hot and gives a burning sensation but it helps.
both eyes were slightly swollen small blistery rash. He gave me clindamycin for 10 days. It helped. A month later went to doctor eyes itchy & swollen with little blisters, little blisters on palms also. Gave me script for hydrocortisone. To make a long story short, I have been to doctors 7 times since tooth extraction for aches face, jaw, neck, ears clogging, upper left arm aching, swollen glands under chin, as well as two chest colds, and also diagnosed with sinusitis.
Clindomycen was how I obtained it. Started having severe pain in stomach 4 days after taking it. Took about 3 weeks for my doctor to take it seriously. (From throwing up blood, unrelated to c.diff). If you test positive you will more then likely take flagyl and if it keeps returning stronger antibiotics. Becareful of dehydration if you have it. I am currently battling it right now which is causing my blood pressure to drop. Drink plently of fluids and rest when you can.
Nearing the end of that, I developed swelling on the outside gum, the dentist put me on 7 day clindamycin. The swelling has decreased, the pain is nearly absent, but with 2 1/2 days left of the antibiotic, I have been feeling "twinges" in the tooth. If this course of treatment doesn't work, what should happen next?
I had a wisdom tooth & cyst removed 2 days ago (09/19/12)--left lower side. Outpt surgery under general anesthesia. The wisdom tooth was horizontal next to a cyst---the crown of the wisdom tooth was pushing against the tooth next to it. Not in to much pain, I'm taking clindamycin & oxycodone. Since the extraction, I have only taken 4 pain pills. Of course my face is still swollen, which is to be expected, but my tongue on the left side is still numb.
But now my fear is starting another job and then having to turn around and take off to have this work done, ugh! I hear clindamycin is better at fighting tooth infections so hopefully if I start taking it the infection will clear up and will stay away longer giving me time to get another insurance or will it flare back up with a vengeance?
on april 19 I had I got two wisdom tooth pulled at the top on my left side i had a extra tooth on the side. i am worry that the blood clot came out. i am having pain right now. Which i know it's going to take time for the pain to go away. And i have to remember that i had two teeth pulled by each other. I don't have a lot of blood. It's only a little on the quaze. The quaze make me gag i feel like throwing up. I am really not bleeding that much.
I also have had a broken tooth for two years, which swells with infection every few months. Sometimes 6 months between. I finally got insurance, and went to a doctor, who ran blood tests, which showed prolactin is normal, and that I am anemic, but I eat plenty of iron. I also have very irregular periods. Ranging from 3-6 months between cycles. Nothing else looked odd in the blood tests he ordered. 5 levels were off, but all having to do with an iron-deficiency anemia.
My dentist put a crown on back then. Now the same tooth is causing me awlful pain and my dentist says I need root canal. Why would he ever put a crown on a tooth that had an infection. I was treated with antibiotics and I am being treated again 1.5 years later with antibiotics because of that same infection. I think he should have done a root canal then.
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
