I take it every 6 hours. The lump under my broken tooth was pretty big. Prior to taking the Clindamycin, I had taken Bactrim for an infection and Augumentin. When the lump started I had taken some Augumentin for about a week. The lump has now been there a total of almost 3 weeks. When I went to the dentist on Wed. he told me I was now resistant to both of the prior antibiotics and he was giving me the Clindamycin now. Every time after I take the med.
I am curious about the answer you will receive from the doctor on this forum regarding your question concerning Clindamycin; because, I had been prescribed two rounds of it for a tooth abcess. They were approx. 3 weeks apart. The tooth had since been pulled out a long time ago; but, I developed a sudden increase in PVC's 24/7 during the treatment time with this anitbiotic and have had PVC's since.
ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.
i have a good idea about this, i had the same problem about 3 weeks ago. an infection has entered that tooth and caused an abscess. the pressure from the abscess has pushed the infection down into soft tissue and most likely infected the saliva glands (thus the swollen cheek) ibuprofen will help pain and some inflamation but the infection MUST be treated with antibiotics or it could spread to your neck, throat, or bloodstream and become life threatening.
I have clindamycin 300 mg, can I safely double up todays med intake. To be painfree for Christmas plans tomorrow??
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
Sounds like my story! Was given that for a tooth infection, made me sick but told to finish it. I have been sick since and now have major GI problems and have seen numerous doctors and have been to Stanford also. Early on, I was treated for SIBO 3 times, now, they think I have a motility disorder or IBS, which means they don't know. Have constipation and diarrhea problems now and on Linzess. Also had a low ejection HIDA scan that was normal before all this. I feel I'll every day.
t get me in for three weeks, so my regular dentist gave me Clindamycin 300MG 3X a day. I have been taking it for four days. Since then my check has gone from no swelling to so swollen I can hardly open my mouth. The pain at the site of the tooth is gone but there is still a lot of pressure above the tooth (#14). I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
I was prescribed Vicodin and Clindamycin. I forgot to take the Climdamycin for the first two days, but picked it up immediately on day three. By the end of day three I found myself in EXCRUCIATING pain that 2 Vicodins couldn't ease and my face was still very swollen even after taking Clindamycin. I was so sick to my stomach due to the Clindamycin that I called my doctor to ask for something else less upsetting on day four. He prescribed Keflex instead.
You can, I have been prescribed that before for BV, but it doesn't always work and may not be for the right kind of bacteria you have

Any bacterial infection can lead to collection of pus in the tooth can cause tooth abscess. A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. I had an abscessed tooth and was put on clindamycin. That did not help and was switched to amoxicillin, followed by a root canal. The root canal was a week ago but the lump from the abscess is still on my gum. Is this normal? I was not put on antibiotics after the root canal but I took the last 2 amox. From the prescrip I had been given the week before.
My question is I seem to have an absessed tooth I was perscribed clindamycin for it but was told to take 12 pills daily each being 150 mg does this seem normal? I am calling my doctor tomorrow to see what she thinks, just kinda wondered if anyone else has had this issue.
I just finished a course of clindamycin for a tooth infection, and as FTB4 said, it does not interact with levo. Listen to his advice about the probiotic and/or yogurt. Clindamycin messed up my gut worse than any antibiotic I've ever taken (which isn't many).
Also, is your sore throat and runny nose due to a bacterial infection? If it's due to a cold or the flu, both viruses, no antibiotic will help it. Antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses.
The pain is in the gum around the tooth all the way into my jaw. I have been taking clindamycin four days now. I cannot feel an absess. Could this just be a tooth infection?
My face was very swollen for two days. They then switched my meds to clindamycin(2 rounds) The swelling has gone away mostly but there is still a little swollen area near the tooth where the I&D was done. Every day it is an improvement but it still hurts. I have stopped taking the vicodin and have cut the advil doses down to once or twice a day. My question is should there still be infection after a week of the new antibiotics? I haven't had a fever but occasionally feel fatigued.

I took ibuprofen 3 caplets of 220 mg and cephalexin 500 mg and got some relief after an hour. I also bit into half a clove of garlic with my hurting tooth. I slowly/very gently chewed on it. It is sort of hot and gives a burning sensation but it helps.

Hi, I am a 23 year old male, approximately 170 lbs. I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.
