Avatar f tn I got treatment because I said I got diagnosed with impetigo. Nothing worked for the ecthyma besides Clindamycin. I need a official diagnose for the lawsuits but dermatologist charge and I'm going through a divorce from a abusive narcissist. Just want to help these people ASAP!
Avatar m tn I've been suffering with a very strange skin infection for the past 6 months. In October 2009, I caught a very bad case of impetigo, and was given antibiotics to combat it. In a couple weeks it cleared up, but in less than a week after treatment my skin broke out with these oozing, golden crusts once again. The dermatologist I was seeing prescribed all sorts of antibiotics to try to cure me, but all served to be only temporarily effective.
Avatar m tn Wash your hands and anything you touch including the water tap, towels etc. If it is a large area then you may need to have oral antibiotics. For impetigo they probably don't have to culture it but it is best to see a doctor. It is pretty easily spread to others. So, be careful not to touch the area and touch others.
Avatar n tn It will crust, but not honey in color, just quasi crust. FOR WEEKS!! It will not heal. Finally after a year (of always having at least 1 sore on my face, during the summer as many as 8 small ones at a time) of trying to battle what I thought was adult on set acne, I saw a dermatologist who said he thought it my be impetigo/ecythyma. I was but on Bactroban cream and after about 8 weeks, most sores cleared up. However, the damn things come back. Question 1.
Avatar f tn the doctor treated him for Kawasaki Disease as we were waiting for the results of all the tests with the hemoglobin IV. He did have every symptom related the teh disease too. He tested posted for Scarlet Fever and then was given a Penicilan shot and shortly recovered after that. Most recently he developed a staph infection on his leg that lasted for over a month, we dont know how it started but he said he got a cut on his leg and it just got worse.
Avatar f tn So, impetigo isn't really something you treat with over the counter products. It typically requires a prescription from a doctor of a topical antibiotic (like a cream you put on) or a pill if it is systemic (through body). It's basically a staph or strep infection of the skin. And it IS contagious. It's important he receive prompt attention (especially since you are mentioning his eye lid involved) but it needs to be a prescription of antibiotics from a doctor.
Avatar n tn I also have oxy cream whaich is 10% benzoyl peroxide. any suggestions as to how I can clear up this problem for goos. on the touch they feel small but they are visible. This discussion is related to Lip Bumps.
Avatar f tn But it was cultured at urgent care and was positive for herpes right> Couples go many years without transmitting either oral or genital herpes to their partner. I think in your case, the very rough biting of the nipples probably combined with viral shedding from his mouth resulted in in infection where other contacts had not. If the culture from urgent care was positive, the blisters are herpetic not impetigo.
Avatar n tn I have been dating a women for a year and a half feb 07-nov 08.Have had unprotected sex couple of times but test hiv - in june 08. i just found out she has these acne like spot on her face and shoulder. She say it body ance. I read the bottle of cream she uses and its Clindamycin. I looked it up and it say it is use to treat acne and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus common in people who are hiv + ? She also has vigoligo.
Avatar m tn Earlier this afternoon (july 7th), i ended up going to urgent care and the doctor said i had impetigo, and he wrote me up a prescription for antibiotic ointment (Mupirocin Ointment USP, 2%) and sent me on my way. I still have some questions though! 1.) i read that impetigo is highly contagious. How contagious is it? i always wash my hands after i apply the ointment, and I don't touch the area at all, except when im putting the ointment on. 2.
Avatar n tn Hi Are you taking any medications for this? With the way you describe the skin condition, this sounds like impetigo. "Impetigo starts as a red sore that quickly ruptures, oozes for a few days and then forms a yellowish-brown crust that looks like honey or brown sugar. The disease is highly contagious, and scratching or touching the sores is likely to spread the infection to other parts of the body as well as to other people." Source:http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't even treat for "possible infection" with either. I'd wait for test results to come back to see if you even have either of them. clindamycin isn't going to help for either if you should be infected with either of them. you are wasting your time and money by taking it.
Avatar f tn impetigo has nothing to do with HIV. What was your possible exposure?
Avatar f tn My daughter had impetigo several weeks back. She was treated with a cream and oral antibiotics. The area has healed. However, she has and pigmented discolored area exactly the same size as where her impetigo spot was. Will this go away? How long will it take? Is this normal and is there anything we can do to help this area return to its natural skin color.
Avatar n tn I just recently noticed a small area inside my right nostril that appears to either be impetigo or a cold sore. This looks like a cold sore, but after reading on internet, it sounds like odds are it is more likely impetigo. It started as a pimple like lesion and looks more like a flat/slightly raised brown crusty lesion? Please help me figure this out, or give me more info on what this could be, so I know whether to go right in to see a doctor. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I am worried because I went out in the sun for about 4 weeks straight after the impetigo cleared up and that is why i think the hyper pigmentation change will be permanent. I got Impetigo the first week of April, and its now the end of May, so it has been 8 weeks and the red marks are still there and are very pinkish/redish in color. Therefore, my questions are, 1) Is this color change normal after impetigo? 2) Will this pigment change go back to its original color ?
1562256 tn?1384459598 Hey my 6 year old child when she was a baby use to get Impetigo all the time... Last time she had it was when she was about 4. Well I think this is Impetigo. Tell me what you think. It like showed up in one day.
Avatar m tn You can take a duo test right now since it is after 28 days for a conclusive result. Impetigo is highly infectious and you interact with others so there is no reason to try to narrow it down to her. Everyone posts their ARS symptoms here but so far no one has had ArS since I have been here, so doctors don't diagnose from symptoms, just tests.
Avatar m tn As an Asian I have very smooth skin. however 5 months ago I was told that I had impetigo. I had some antibacterial cream prescribed and a cream to get rid of the flaky skin that comes impetigo. It has been 5 months and I still have some bumps. They aren't impetigo, ( no leaking), but these are abnormally large lumps on my skin. The would cluster and would look like acne. but when I pop them only blood comes out.
Avatar f tn Your child should be kept out of school until he has been on treatment for 24 hours with oral antibiotics or 48 hours with antibiotic ointment alone. For mild impetigo treated with an antibiotic ointment, the child can continue to attend day care or school if the sore is covered with a Band-Aid." Do kee us posted on your doubts and progress.

Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Impetigo and Folliculitis, most likely caused by the same bacteria living on my body. The doctor diagnosed the Impetigo by looking at it, and he prescribed me Doxycycline and Muporocin (SP?) After a few days, the Impetigo began to clear up. It was in the left corner of my lip. There is still a bit of redness there, but nothing else and no irritation. The folliculitis was on my head, back, different areas of my thighs, and occasionally my chest.
