Avatar m tn since that day, i sweared that i will not prescribe clindamycin(or at least with 4timed daily dosing!!!!
72351 tn?1281992542 it does sound like an infection, but in my opinion, it is too risky to give the baby the clindamycin w/ out taking him/her to the vet. Way too risky and clindamycin might not be the correct antibiotic for the kitten's problem. Please come back w/ an update. Wishing the best for the kitten.
Avatar n tn Clindamycin side effects diarrhea that is watery or bloody; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, sores in your mouth and throat A side effect is usually regarded as an undesirable secondary effect which occurs in addition to the desired therapeutic effect of a drug or medication. Side effects may vary for each individual depending on the person's disease state, age, weight, gender, ethnicity and general health. dear, drug side effect shows at theraputic dose not in doctors mistake.
Avatar n tn I can only imagine the frustration of dealing with a diurectic in a pet, but your veterinarian obviously thought the medication was needed at that dosing level. You can, though, post this question in the Ask A Vet Expert forum and get some opinions from veterinarians across the country. They would be able to help guide you with information you can share with your veterinarian at home and questions that you might ask your veterinarian. Good luck with your sick little one!
Avatar n tn Human grade fish oil supplements are made from exactly the same ingredients (usually!) as the ones for dogs. But check ingredients to make sure there is nothing in there that shouldn't be, and can harm dogs....such as xylitol etc. Pure fish oil is okay. But keep the capsules or bottle of oil out of the light, preferably in the refrigerator to prevent rancidity/free radicals, etc. There is some information, and information about dosages here: http://csu-cvmbs.colostate.
605458 tn?1539228808 I know they like to use once a day dosing with dogs, mostly for owner compliance. Its easier to remember, easier on the dog, and easier on the pocketbook, too! Are you checking his blood sugar? What kind of diet is he on? I don't know a lot about diabetic dogs, but the subject really interests me.
19691093 tn?1488194069 But this pawing was resolved with Clindamycin antibiotic that really cleared up mouth bacteria. Since Clindamycin treatment, he stopped pawing frequently. So, whenever he starts again, I'm very observant. Anyway, I noticed more frequent pawing starting February 8, and it continued and got obsessively worse, especially after eating. It got to the point where an eye would tear up and become very watery after eating.
Avatar n tn has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects. HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Avatar n tn DOGS CANNOT TAKE DECONGESTANTS!!!! They cannot metabolize them. If your dogs ears are that bad they are in need of antibiotic and antifungals. You can ask your vet to prescribe an antibiotic like cephalexin and an antifungal like fluconazole both which can be called into a walmart in your area and they are on the $4 generic list so it keeps cost down. As for itching they can have antihistamines WITHOUT DECONGESTANTS in them.
Avatar m tn Hoping that Clindamycin will work...If the Clindamycin does not work...is there another medicine that could do the trick?
Avatar f tn Determining a dosage of tramadol for dogs is an exercise in futility. As with people, if the dog has a history of seizures it is important to let your vet know this, and they will likely tell you about alternatives. While the dosage amounts vary from dog to dog, the tramadol dosage for dogs can be put into effect by using the dog’s weight as the determinant. The usual range is .5 - 1.8mg per pound.
518994 tn?1212242047 Omega 3 Fatty acids are excellent for people and dogs. There are various vitamin-mineral supplements available that contain this or you could just add a little (~1/2 teaspoon) extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals. Olive oil is a great source of Omega-3 Fatty acids. The omega-3's are the same for people and pets. If you give too much the result would be a bit of gas and/or loose stool.
Avatar f tn There are 2 types of mange which one? Scapies is easily treated by a vet with Revolution; dosing by weight and applied immediately then given 2 weeks later and then 2 weeks again. It needs to be diagnosed by a skin scrape and seen under a microscope or by looking at the dogs ear margin and elbows for a reflex reaction. Demodectic mange is a more complicated type and usually is diagnosed by skin scrape for the mites that hide deep in the follicles.
850029 tn?1238857820 I seriously doubt that a drop of listerine would do anything. Dosing anything in a dogs water is ineffective because of the immediate dilution, and lack of controlled uptake. That is why this Dr. Franks Pet Pain Spray is such a joke. Anything sprayed in a dog's water become so dilute and no one can predict or guarantee A) dog will dring, B) dog will get an effective does and C) tomorrow that water should be thrown out and replaced with new.
Avatar f tn My 8 month old lab about a week ago, started getting weaker and in pain. I took him on a 2 mile walk and he was fine and happy. The next morning when I went to water and feed him, he was walking with his head down and acting a different. I didn't think a whole lot of it-he was a strong minded little thing. But ut has progressively become a seriuos problem. He started developing these cysts in his muscles on his shoulders and legs.
19691093 tn?1488194069 (Once every 4 weeks or more, will give a pulse therapy dose of Clindamycin antibiotic for about a week; we wait until he starts pawing his face/mouth; his lower jaw is dissolved and rubbery.) --Enlarged heart with a slight heart murmur.
Avatar f tn t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
948202 tn?1245941816 Also, i use clindamycin phosphate lotion to prevent breakouts during the day. If i add this underneath the clindamycin, will it stop the clindamycin from working? Will the serum cause breakouts? It says it is for all skin types. Should i maybe use the hydrating complex after i use the clindamycin? I am 24 yr old female still experiencing some breakouts. I have not had any breakous for about 2 months since using clindamycin during the day, and sulfacetamide at night.
Avatar f tn Call your local pharmacist. We at MedHelp are not allowed to give out dosing instructions. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you exactly how to dose the medications. If your regular pharmacy is closed on Sunday, call any pharmacist availabe at your local grocery store or drug store such as Walgreens, CVS, or RiteAid.
Avatar f tn Sorry to be so abrupt but ibuprofen, the active ingredient in motrin, is EXTREMELY toxic to dogs! Even a small dose can lead to events that will kill him. It's best to check with your vet first on dosing, but he CAN have human aspirin as long as it's either buffered or enteric coated, like Ascriptin. But don't give him any other type of human OTC pain reliever because they are just not formulated for dogs.
Avatar n tn I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill. My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections???? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Avatar n tn Is an excruciating headache a sign of a reaction to clindamycin? I can't take it anymore, and my CT scan came back clean. I'm on the antibiotic as a preventative measure after sinus surgery (I'm about a week out). There's no infection, and all the drainage, etc. is normal.
Avatar m tn I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left. My infection, which wasn't very bad to start with, is now gone. I have been having an increase of bradycardia and PVCs and I am a bit concerned. I don't have an ICD. Thanks for your help.
