I was told to take benadryl every 4-6hrs, pepcid twice a day. Saw dr. the next day. Was given clindamycin 150mg 4x day and took that for 2 1/2 days and was told to stop because I continued with bad reactions. I am afraid that the bacteria was not killed and will return. What do you all think? I am now allergic to bactrim, penicillin and possibly clindamycin, so are there any other antibiotics that can kill cellulitis should it return?
Recently I had a ingrown toenail that was removed on my right big toe, and the toe has been red but with no other symptoms for about 3 weeks now, but I have had no other symptoms; however, an MRI scan was interpreted by my podiatrist that I had a bone infection (cellulitis) on the tip of my big toe bone. I now have been taking antibiotics for about a month, about 10 days of keflex with a 5 day break, 10 days of cipro, and 3 days break before another 10 days of cipro.
Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???

I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
I went to my GP who then prescribed me clindamycin on top of the erythromycin and codeine for pain. When I was only taking erythromycin, my stomach was hardly upset, if at all. Now that I'm taking the clindamycin, my stomach is killing me. There's no diarrhea as of yet, but the amount of stomach cramping I have is insane. It's not abdominal pain, but stomach pain, just below my chest.
My 2 year old got a Stye last week and my husband took him to the Dr. He was prescribed Clindamycin. This seems very strong to me and I don't really see much on the internet as this being something prescribed. Can you tell my why this might be prescribed by a doctor in a pediatric patient with his first stye?

I took bactrim and after 5 1/2 days had an intense allergic reaction of a burning sensation, needle pricking and numbness. They put me on clindamycin. I continued to have reactions, so guess they couldn't tell if it was the bactrim still in my system or also being allergic to clindamycin. Anyway, I was on some sort of antibiotic for 71/2 to 8 days. It's been 2 weeks since I stopped the 800mg/160mg 2x a day bactrim and the burning sensation is still there but much milder.
So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.
Amoxcillin is a good antibiotic, but I find that with more aggressive strains of bacteria, Clindamycin 300-450 mg every six hours for a week is required. Cipro or Flagyl might be some alternatives to use, but I find Clindamycin generally is quite effective although pseudomembranous colitis can be a complication in rare cases. I would say that if the swelling gets a lot worse or if after 2-3 days it does not improve any, contact the dentist to let them know.
odds are this is a hsv1 infection on your breasts. if it's a new infection for you, it might not show up on the igg blood test for a few weeks or months ( if at all ). odds are this is a newly acquired infection - from your lack of prior history of similar symptoms on your breast. it would've come from your husband's mouth whether he had an obvious cold sore or not ( or if he can even recall ever having had one ).
ve went to the doctor last Sunday (July 31st) and have been taking antibiotics (Clindamycin) for the past 10 days (still taking them) and I just got my recheck today (August 9th). I feel way much better. No pain, no fevers, etc. The abscess is really small, like dots. I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.
Hi everyone! I've had cellulitis for a many months now. My doctor first put me on Bactrim, and I had a rash all over my body and developed a fungal infenction as well. This was on day 8 of 10 on Bactrim. The doctor switched me to Keflex, and this time, that same day I got another rash all over my body. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes.
Has this happened to anyone?
Well, I have the same thing... I was on Bactrim and Clindamycin for 10 days... another 5 days of Bactrim... which didn't work by itself before.. .anyway... I have a hard ridge inside my nose that won't go away... and sometimes I think it is going to flare back up... not having insurance, it is not good that I might have to pay another 125.00 to see the same dr. for the same results....
Amoxicillin, Clindamycin, and Capadex (for my stomach problems). My dosage of the antibiotics are very high and I will be taking it for about 2 months. He believes I may H pyelori as well as Lymes because of my reoccurring ulcers. I am getting a more sensitive test for h Pyelori as well. I am also taking or about to Amrix for muscle pain. Has anyone taken this? I am afraid to take it because I am afraid a muscle relaxer might make me more tired and my fatigue is overwhelming.
However I used Bactroban + gentamycin + tumeric powder applied abundantly on the meatus then cover it up with a condom...Did it every 4 hrs after urination / beofre sleeping for the night.After 2-3 weeks, the cellulitis changed into episyphellas then fading away... In the mean time you have to ake Azithromycin 2g first day, 1g the next 3 days along with 4 weeks of vitamin C + doxycycling 2x100 mg/d...Or clindamycin 2x300 mg/d for at least 2 weeks...

Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important.
I urge you to at least call your dentist for approval before you treat a dental abscess yourself.
Amoxicillin may be fine, but you may need something like clindamycin instead.
Also, it's very important that a FULL dose is taken for dental infections.
I am having Acne vulgaris on my face for the past seven years. Now I am 20 and I am Male. I used to take some ointments(clindamycin,benzoyl peroxide) but that had only temporary effects. Of late, I have started taking medications on the advice of a doctor who says that I have reached the Gr.IV satge of acne.

i was on treatment of 2500 mg of antibiotic for 10 days for cellulitis...during treatment i was having diarrhea, nausea which i was told it was from treatment. i completeed treatment 1 week ago and i am still having nausea occasional vomit of mucous, loose stools and occasional severe abdominal cramps.. some days worse than others. could all of those mg of antibiotics have done damage to my stomach or intestant?
I have been dating a women for a year and a half feb 07-nov 08.Have had unprotected sex couple of times but test hiv - in june 08. i just found out she has these acne like spot on her face and shoulder. She say it body ance. I read the bottle of cream she uses and its Clindamycin. I looked it up and it say it is use to treat acne and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Is methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus common in people who are hiv + ? She also has vigoligo.
I have some clindamycin but not sure if that is an appropriate medication for a cat. he weighs 11 lbs.
