Avatar n tn I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill. My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections???? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
Avatar m tn Because I have an artificial joint I take 600mg of Clindamycin Prior to dental work. I han root canal done on a tooth under a permanent bridge a year ago by a General Dentist. One hour start to finish. It was infected, but I was never given any additional antibiotics. Since that time had an ongoing foul taste and odor when I used Water Flosser daily. The adjacent tooth became infected and also required a root canal. This time done by an Endadontist.
Avatar m tn Because of a complicated dental issue, I've been on multiple antibiotics in the last few months (long story): 1. May 10: Penicillin VK 500mg tab (6 days) and Metronidazole 250mg tab (7 days) 4x per day for both 2. Jun 6: Amoxicillin 500mg; 4 tablets immediately then 1 pill 3x per day (2 weeks) 3. Jun 21: Augmentin 875mg + 125mg additives, 2x per day (3 weeks) 4. Sep 16: Clindamycin 300 mg, 3x per day (16 days) I am concerned by the number and duration of these antibiotics courses.
Avatar f tn My question is I seem to have an absessed tooth I was perscribed clindamycin for it but was told to take 12 pills daily each being 150 mg does this seem normal? I am calling my doctor tomorrow to see what she thinks, just kinda wondered if anyone else has had this issue.
Avatar m tn Seeing a dentist is advised, even if administration of clindamycin relieving your dental pain.
Avatar m tn I have been on clindamycin 150mg 2 every 8 hours for 4 days with a gum abscess. Its still hasnt come to a head yet, and very painful , I can feel a heart beat in it.Was wondering how long will it last. And is there any way to make it come to head. Had mini dental implants put in 3 years ago with 4 up top ,, and the gum abscess is right on top of it .
5789562 tn?1374459029 I think you need a good dentist..
Avatar n tn The pain is in the gum around the tooth all the way into my jaw. I have been taking clindamycin four days now. I cannot feel an absess. Could this just be a tooth infection?
Avatar n tn what are some of the common dental implant problems? This discussion is related to dental implant and systemic disease.
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago I went to the barber and he shaved the back of my head with a clipper, then used a blade near the hairline on the back of my neck. Most of the time, after each visit I get a mild breakout of small pimples that go away in a few days. There was one located on the left side right at the line where the hair ends. it rubbed against my shirt and/or coat collar and became infected (after I picked at it).
Avatar f tn Meanwhile I applied for the Maryland exchange program and dental services do not cover root canal treatment. Trying to see what I can do apply for Care Credit but not sure if I'll be eligible as I do not have a job at the moment. I feel a little pain radiating down my neck off and on and treat it with Tylenol. No facial swelling at least not yet. Went to one dentist and paid out of pocket who prescribed penicillin V 500mg. It took about a week and The Sensation went away.
1726450 tn?1316282511 I have an abscess tooth. Badly infected. Tried Penicillin VK, infection stayed. Trying Clindamycin- not helping to well so far after 3 days. Doctors office hard to get a hold of and dentist is out of ideas. I will ask my Dr office tomorrow- but need to throw this question out: Question: Who had antibiotics for dental infection during treatment and what antibiotic worked for you?
1399266 tn?1280637104 My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day. When she started she had a pink drainage coming from her right eye and right nostril. Her eye has gotten better and her nose has slightly improved. She is still sneezing and looks terrible but she is eating on her own. This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth.
Avatar m tn I just had first root canal #14 through dental crown. Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar f tn I have read that clindamycin is a commom drug prescribed to ppl before dental work to prevent endocarditis in those with heart problems, so why would they prescribe it to someone with heart problems if it is bad?? I dont take anything for my pvcs nor are they very bad. Doctor thinks they are just stress, but considering I have had them for a year and a half, Im not so sure. This being said, should I still be concerned about taking the medicine?
Avatar n tn A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. The usually preferred antibiotics are amoxicillin, clindamycin, penicillins and metrogyl.Azithromycin may raise serum methadone levels and/or increase the effects of methadone. It is advisable to contact a local health care provider. Do write to us again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn I get hives every time I have dental work lately. Currently have Clindamycin. How many days prior should I start this and how many days after should I continue?
Avatar f tn So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.
Avatar m tn Thanks..
Avatar f tn s swollen, and it got worse very quickly, now my mouth is in throbbing pain and it hurts to move my face/mouth/lips. My doctor prescribed me 300mg clindamycin. How long until my pain goes away?!? Took my first (double) dose an hour ago and I'm in so much pain still, I'm sweating and can't think of anything else!!! Please help!!! Any rule of thumb for how long it takes for the pain to subside?
Avatar n tn I had a wisdom tooth & cyst removed 2 days ago (09/19/12)--left lower side. Outpt surgery under general anesthesia. The wisdom tooth was horizontal next to a cyst---the crown of the wisdom tooth was pushing against the tooth next to it. Not in to much pain, I'm taking clindamycin & oxycodone. Since the extraction, I have only taken 4 pain pills. Of course my face is still swollen, which is to be expected, but my tongue on the left side is still numb.
Avatar m tn Hoping that Clindamycin will work...If the Clindamycin does not work...is there another medicine that could do the trick?
Avatar f tn If amoxicillin is not effective, switching to clindamycin+metronidazole may help clear dental infection.
Avatar f tn I previously took Clindamycin which worked great for a few months, but then stopped working. However, that was before the 2 teeth were pulled. I'm wondering if maybe I should try it again in conjunction with the Augmentin, since it may now have a better chance of working since the 2 teeth were pulled and the bone cleaned out. My oral surgeon would like to try me on clindamycin again, but my infectious disease doctor says the Augmentin should be fighting all of the bacteria.
