Avatar m tn ve been on d-penn for 8 years, you should be in a maintenance phase; the only thing you should have to take should be zinc acetate-chelating, which can be found/bought at a community pharmacy. I'd discuss these options with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Thank you for trying to help. I have seen several dermatologists and they all say the same thing "Stop touching your scalp and allow sores to heal" I have used Luxiq and Clindamycin for the past few years without any relief. The clindamycin helps with comfort for 3 to 4 hrs but has not solved the problem. This has had a severe impact on emotional and physical well being. I have very little hair left and have throbing pain most of the time which does not allow for good night sleep.
Avatar n tn I have tried washing with Selsun Blue shampoo before, and occasionally tried Clindamycin gel on my skin with little improvement. Can anyone suggest a diagnosis and a cure? I have included the picture below.
Avatar f tn I seem to have the daunting task of finding vitamins without Cellulose and avoiding soybean oil as well. Had gotten a mislabeled bottle of B12 from GNC that did actually have Cellulose in it but it wasn't on the actual label. All these fillers are scary.....Diclacium Phosphate etc. I have searched and searched but everything seems to have Cellulose or worse in it. I need to find: B 12, Folate, Magnesium, Zinc, C. I did find a Vit D3 with olive oil as a filler, made by NOW.
2791164 tn?1339900643 My reasons for impaired smell and taste: vitamin B12 deficiency (due to autoimmune pernicious anaemia), zinc deficiency, and hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's thyroiditis). I had to diagnose all three conditions myself. Thankfully we have google eh? :) Excerpt from "Smell and Taste Disorders: A Primary Care Approach" - American Academy of Family Physicians: Selected Possible Causes of Smell Disturbance Common causes: Nasal and sinus disease (e.g.
Avatar f tn The conditions that have decreased my sense of taste and smell are vitamin B12 malabsorption, zinc deficiency, hypothyroidism, uremia (due to kidney failure).
Avatar f tn In one of these studies, 54 people were given either placebo or 135 mg of zinc as zinc sulfate daily. Zinc produced slight but measurable benefits. Similar results have been seen in other studies using 90 to 135 mg of zinc daily, although others failed to find that zinc helped. Relatively weak evidence suggests that a lower and safer dose, 30 mg daily, may also be helpful.
Avatar f tn t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.

622056 tn?1221681375 I would definitely start taking the vit C and possibly some L-Lysine and L-Arginine. They are amino acids that can be found at your local vitamin store.
Avatar f tn Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
Avatar f tn Hello, Perioral dermatitis like acne is a chronic papulopustular and eczematous facial dermatitis. It mostly effects women and appear around the nose, mouth and eyes. Treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing. Scrubbing should be avoided. In case the symptoms persist then topical antibiotics like tetracycline may be needed.
Avatar f tn Zinc is a mineral and as such is water soluable (your body takes what it needs and excretes the rest), and it is also good for your baby, so if you're not feeling well, go ahead and use those lozenges. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and helps in reducing sebum production. Topical medications like benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin and retinoid are used in treating acne. It is suggested to see a dermatologist before using these products. Keep me posted. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn as I read about the study reported in the British Journal of Dermatology about using oral zinc for recalcitrant warts. but my doctor told me no that hes never heard of that and too much zinc is dangerous..the clinical trial they used up to 600mg of zinc a day..but Fourteen of the 23 zinc-treated patients had complete remission of their warts after one month of treatment. Complete clearance of warts was noted in 20 patients after two months...NO ONE in the Placebo group showed ANY improvements..
Avatar n tn has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects. HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.

Avatar m tn They would come and go for months at a time. Over the years I felt them more and more, though. Eventually they got to the point where they came back and never left. I felt like they were pounding so hard and I experienced them several times a day. (they almost felt like anxiety attacks or something) I finally thought that maybe I would try medication for them so I went to a cardiologist. He had me try various beta-blockers. Propranolol, Inderal LA, Metaprolol, Toprol XL.
Avatar n tn i used prednesolone acetate eye drops prescribed by my doctor, as i had redness of eye and inflmation. after using it it reduced and every thing was normal. But after 3 or 4 years, i had horrible pain in my hips. and when i consulted a bone speciliest, he said that cartilage in my hip joint is woren out, and there are symptoms of artharities, bone is getting woren out due to bone rubbing against each other, due to some steroid or some drug, So can Predesolone acetate be the cause for it.
Avatar f tn I just got married on April 25th, and I was supposed to have my period around that time. I got the prescription from the doctor to take 10mg/day of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE. However, since I started taking the medicine too late, 2 days after I took the medicine, I still had my period, so I stopped taking it. On May 13th, I had unprotected sex. My question is: is it safe to get pregnant within a month after taking 20mg of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE? Many thanks!
1278876 tn?1304908319 Ok so, When i found out i was pregnant i bought some otc prenatal vitamins, the one a day brand, one pill has the iron and folic acid and all the other types of vitamin and the other is the one with the DHA in it. The only problem I have is that when i take them they make me extremely nauseous unless i eat a very big meal. Which normally wouldnt be a problem but I'm still fighting off the end of morning sickness and it makes me miserable to take them. I have an extremely sensitive stomach.
