I just finished a course of clindamycin for a tooth infection, and as FTB4 said, it does not interact with levo. Listen to his advice about the probiotic and/or yogurt. Clindamycin messed up my gut worse than any antibiotic I've ever taken (which isn't many).
Also, is your sore throat and runny nose due to a bacterial infection? If it's due to a cold or the flu, both viruses, no antibiotic will help it. Antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses.

re looking for something soft to eat and a GREAT suggestion right now would be yogurt. i perfer dannon active myself. the main reason is that the clindamycin is a very powerful antibiotic (my doctor put me on 450mg of clindamycin) the down side is clindamycin can kill everything in your body. that includes the good bacteria in your intestine called gut flora. if the good bacteria dies it can make way for a bad bacteria that's immune to clindamycin to grow in your intestine.
I was prescribed Erythromycin and following that Clindamycin. Approximately a week after I stopped the medication I had a sudden and severe onset of diarrhea. I waited several days and when it didn't stop I saw a family M.D. He ordered a stool culture and some additional tests on the stool all which came out negative. Initially he thought it was a result of the antibiotics however with the negative lab results he no longer believes this is the problem and wants me to get a colonoscopy.
I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.
I was not able to get my hands on Florastor or similar probiotics but I did consume yogurt and kefir. Will that help, or are supplements more efficient?
Today I had a very long, loose stool after eating just a banana and slice of pizza. It does not seem like C Diff to me according to your answer, however, I'm scared that everything I'm eating is going right through me without being properly being absorbed by my body. What issues can this cause?
I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. They now prescribed me clindamycin gel which I will pick up tomorrow due to pharmacy out of stock.
I took bactrim and after 5 1/2 days had an intense allergic reaction of a burning sensation, needle pricking and numbness. They put me on clindamycin. I continued to have reactions, so guess they couldn't tell if it was the bactrim still in my system or also being allergic to clindamycin. Anyway, I was on some sort of antibiotic for 71/2 to 8 days. It's been 2 weeks since I stopped the 800mg/160mg 2x a day bactrim and the burning sensation is still there but much milder.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
I have no diarrehea, urine color normal, no vomiting, no fever, no chills, stools look ok, but have excessive burping regardless of what I eat or drink, and hot feeling in that area of stomach kind of sore...when I lay flat of my back I don't feel it, when I sit in a chair I can barely tell, but if I walk around I feel best if I put my hand here...I am 135 pounds and 5'3 and do have some weight in stomach area, slight bloating …...it feels like my stomach lining has been disrupted....
Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
This might be a dumb question but is it safe to eat yogurt while prego?
I have seeked medical help and was given a prescription of Metroidazole 500 mg. That did not help with the smell then I was given a cream called clindamycin and that hasnt seemed to work either. My doctor said i have abnormal cells on my cervix, could that be what is causing this unpleasant odor. A few things, some say I smell like pee, some say i smell like a fish bar, and then some say i smell like feces. smell it and it smells bad. My sister in law says i smell like a portable potty..
you get about 10 bouts of diarrhea a day and bad cramps etc. It usually develops within 2 months of taking Ciprofloxacin, Clindamycin and some other drugs. You may want to try to eat two yogurts day to start (that have live bacteria such as bifidobacteria or Lactobacillus sp.). You can order some probiotics or get them but eat the yogurt in the meantime to get your intestines repopulated.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Hi I Was Recently Sick and Had To Begin taking an antibiotic called Clindamycin. Will I Be Okay To Drink Alcohol While On This Medication. I Have Read That This Antibiotic Doesn't Have Any Negative Affects While Drinking Alcohol. But Just Wanted To Double Check.
