In the time between my exposure and now I have experienced diarrhea, lack of appetite, weight loss, tinea versicolor, angular cheilitis, cystic acne, and what worries me most is now I have clustering folliculitis in my groin (I have never shaved down there) and non-clustering/sporadic folliculitis in my forearms and back of my hands (never had before). The folliculitis began after my 87 day test, the clindamycin given to me by my dermatologist is not improving the groin area.
The antibiotics I took for a long duration during my illness were Vancomycin and Trovan. I was also on clindamycin and penicillin for a while as well. Do you have any ideas as to the cause of my ailments? I wasn't even sure really which forum to post my question under but the heart palpitations seem the more concerning medically. Although the hair loss is more concerning to me psychologically. I had none of the above symptoms prior to my Empyema ordeal.
I've also dealt with a lot of nausea and loss of appetite. I haven't lost any weight, though I've admittedly gained a few pounds. Some days are better though. I had a very bad yeast infection from the antibiotics and I went through a month phase of thinking I had herpes. Negative blood test and negative culture tests. I've been tested for all STDs and it is all negative (multiple times). I've had two CBCs done and all normal. My pap smears are also normal.
Unfortunately this is a very difficult case to solve with out diagnostics tests like blood and urine. Because you have noticed significant weight loss I am fairly confident that the initial blood and urine tests will help to narrow down the causes. Many communities have subsidized veterinary clinics that can examine your pet. Many of these hospitals and clinics are Non-Profits and handle cases just like this. Also many of these hospitals work on a sliding scale based upon income.
Yesterday morning I finished a 10-day dose of clindamycin for a tooth infection and that seems to have done the trick. I had used Zithromax for 5 days a month ago for a sore throat but that didn't affect the dizziness. The allergist's interpretation for this is that either Zithromax was not the right type of antibiotic or the 5-day treatment was not enough. Depending on the result of the CT scan, I might have to continue taking antibiotics.
And my doctor is at a loss and dosent know what to do. I can tell you this I dont have cats and live a crazy life so I dont think its any of that. So cat lovers your safe. Keep the litter box clean and hug your kittys.

I pet her gently and noticed that she had been losing a significant amount of weight, and was very bony. She had been losing weight over the last couple weeks, but it was never THIS bad. It was like she hadn't eaten in days. We have accessible food & water all the time for our cats. She is a 6 year old, indoor/outdoor female calico named "Kitty". This is very rare for her. She's always been the really sweet kitty that comes and rubs against your leg purring.

He took a swab, however, of the outside of the rash and sent it off to be grown. He prescribed Clindamycin 300mg qid and told me to keep it elevated. The preliminary results indicate that I definitely have staph, but it might not be MRSA. He now doesn't seem quite sure what it is and wants to biopsy it, since it still hasn't developed pustules. Some other symptoms, which I have been experiencing lately are unexplained weight loss to the tune of 35 pounds in the last month.
However, she became extremely lethargic, loss of appetite, weight loss, and hair loss/skin lesions. She was then started on a two week dose of doxy followed by two weeks of zenaquin. she has lost over 6lbs and was only 35lbs to begin with. She was just put on another two weeks of zenaquin. Her blood tests revealed high WBC, low RBC, and low T4. It is now about two months from the start of her symptoms and she is still very sick with little improvement from the meds.

Two young interns came and assessed the situation and felt the mass was above and not through the abdominal muscles and completely ruled out the hernia scenario. They also felt it was an abscess and left it to the ER doctor to open and drain it. Additional morphine was given and the area injected with Xylocaine.
The skin wants to be hydrated and balanced, and too much of any treatment can dry the skin and trigger more oil production. The key is simplicity. Wash once in the morning with a gentle cleanser and apply an oil-free moisturizer, no matter what your skin type. Always use oil-free, gentle makeup. Cleanse again at night, and apply a thin layer of treatment if needed. Pure Aloe vera gel is great for all skin conditions, acne included.
I thank everyone for reading this, and I appreciate any and all feedback and knowledge you may have on the subject. It is most helpful.
A simmering infection can spread along the peridontal ligament and affect your other teeth with bone loss. That's the worst part of a resolving abscess. If you don't treat the problem it just stays there and dissolves the bone holding the teeth in. Good luck and let us know how you do.
Would the concern with foul smelling breath in this case be that food is rotting in the lungs? He has a permanent feeding tube. I think you are right that the intestine and stomach were swollen and not functioning properly. The food was simply not being absorbed and then ended up going back up the esophagus and coughed out. He did not have a normal bowel movement for 10 days, so that cannot have helped flow through the intestines either. What is the recommended course in such cases?
I have been under a period of severe and sustained stress and noticed various abnormalities with my immune system (unprecedented susceptability to colds, coughs, etc, insomnia, weight loss over the past year) All of my other blood serum results were normal - except elevated White Blood Cell counts (11.5).
My mom said she has one because she got that lap band and has lost a BUNCH of weight, and it says rapid weight loss can cause gallstones. My weight has been fluctuating alot. I went from 234 before I got pregnant with my daughter, down to 189 by the time I hit 3 months with her [[I was really sick the first 3 months with her]] up to 242 the day before I had her. A month later I was back down to 202. When I found out I was 3 months pregnant with my son, I was down to 195.
I've never had more than 1-2 BM's per day, only had that diarrhea once in August ( that was after a dose of CLindamycin)and that only lasted 2 weeks. I have normal stools now, once a day, sometimes twice. No weight loss, no appetite change ( except when I have bloating, and my stomach hurts, ) SO the MD called and was concerned because his partner who did the colonoscopy. didn't go it to the ilieum, and he wasn't to make sure it's not CHron's.
I have really been working to stay positive even as weight and fat loss seem to be (a)excellarating. Will start back working in meds slowly today. was off for a few days, which worked out well because I had my kids. Like being off the medication, but it also doesn't treat anything like that. Hope you are doing okay. How are you feeling?
If you had cancer you would probably be exibiting other signs such as dramatic weight loss, black stools, etc, I have similar symptoms and was also told it was hemmoroids. Turned out to be a polyp and it needed to be removed. My advice is to get the scope sooner rather than later to be sure. If it's more than hemmorroids then they can fix it right there. It can give you the peace of mind you need.
And one percent of the population has full-blown celiac disease, which should be suspected in anyone with chronic diarrhea, chronic fatigue, unexplained weight loss, or anemia. Gluten intolerance leads to chronic, low-grade inflammation, damaging tissue in the intestine. Fairly reliable blood tests that many doctors are now knowledgeable about and will order are tissue transglutaminase, anti-gliaden and antiendomysial, and total IgA antibodies.
