ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.

So sorry your going through that, i had an abscess(everything from eye to cheek was very swollen) and went to the er, i got a shot of clindamycin and a prescription, its cleared, and i had the root canal retreated, and so far, no complications, good luck! i know its scary 2 think you have 2 wait 3 weeks to have it worked on.

I went to my regular dentist on 1/13/06 and xrays showed a large abscess in tooth #10, as well as a smaller abscess in tooth #20. On 1/17/06 I had a RCT done on tooth #10, as well as an incision in the roof of my mouth behind that tooth to help extract the infection. On 1/19/06, I had a RCT done on tooth #20, with one 0.05mm post placed. I have been on Antibiotics since 1/13/06, taking Penicillin VK 500mg QID, so I'm now on my Eighth day of antibiotics.

an infection has entered that tooth and caused an abscess. the pressure from the abscess has pushed the infection down into soft tissue and most likely infected the saliva glands (thus the swollen cheek) ibuprofen will help pain and some inflamation but the infection MUST be treated with antibiotics or it could spread to your neck, throat, or bloodstream and become life threatening. antibiotics are the only thing that will help these infections.

I had an abscessed tooth and was put on clindamycin. That did not help and was switched to amoxicillin, followed by a root canal. The root canal was a week ago but the lump from the abscess is still on my gum. Is this normal? I was not put on antibiotics after the root canal but I took the last 2 amox. From the prescrip I had been given the week before.

t see any pus sack on my gums or cheek but there is some white stuff that looks like it could be an abscess inbetween my tooth and gums. The dentist hasn't seen me since my cheek swelled up and won't beable to until the 10th. thanks, again.

My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day. When she started she had a pink drainage coming from her right eye and right nostril. Her eye has gotten better and her nose has slightly improved. She is still sneezing and looks terrible but she is eating on her own. This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth.

But now my fear is starting another job and then having to turn around and take off to have this work done, ugh! I hear clindamycin is better at fighting tooth infections so hopefully if I start taking it the infection will clear up and will stay away longer giving me time to get another insurance or will it flare back up with a vengeance?

Last week, i ended up having my first encounter with a abscess tooth. It was and has been horrible. Since then, I have been put on Advil, Hydrocodon-acetanino, and Clindamycin. I've also seen my dentist who started a root canal on the tooth but just drilled a whole, did some drainage, not all, and left a sponge in it so it can fully drain. I'm supposed to go back next week to complete the full root canal.

After calling my endontontist 3 days in a row he had me come in to his office and determined my bite was offf and I was hitting the root canal tooth first. I clinch my teeeth at night so my pain was just getting worse and worse for the 3 days prior ot him getting me out of occlusion. I had a root canal on tooth 15 and this is my 3rd week of clindamycin and I keep feeling this tingling feeling from my cheek bone to my jaw on the side where the tooth was infected. I have been on clindamycin 150mg 2 every 8 hours for 4 days with a gum abscess. Its still hasnt come to a head yet, and very painful , I can feel a heart beat in it.Was wondering how long will it last. And is there any way to make it come to head. Had mini dental implants put in 3 years ago with 4 up top ,, and the gum abscess is right on top of it .
