I was healthy before I took the Clindamycin and now I wake up nauseous and yesterday had a huge welt on my right arm and itchy bump on the front of my right ankle as well as off and on rashes that come and go. I would like to know when the Clindamycin and maybe also the steroid cream effects will go away? I have to fight the swollen feet and ankles still and notice they get worse now when sitting for long periods of time. This was not an issue before.
It is now trying to move into my lungs(bronchitis). I have had 2 rounds of Levaquin, an injection of Rocephin and dexamethazone and it is STILL not clearing up. I hated to take those antibiotics in the first place. They are always a LAST LAST resort for me. Probiotics have been taken for the issue these cause, but does anyone know of anything else I can try that will work. I am supposed to go back to the dr tomorrow but I just don't want another round of antibiotics.
I am concerned about possible drug interactions between the antibiotic azithromycin and the two heart medications warfarin and amiodarone. My relative has brief history of heart problems span one and a half years (though the underlying heart condition itself appears to be congenital). Rhythm problems resulted in CHF, hospitalization, and later diagnosis and heart surgery. Subsequent dysrhythmia and CHF has been prevented adequately with medication.
I am a 50-year-old otherwise healthy female and I stopped taking clindamycin this past Sunday night as the doctor thought maybe it was a reaction to the antibiotic, however the sensation still exists. No numbness, tingling or burning. Fingers get intermittently cold and I am just stumped. Thought it might be dehydration but all tests are normal including thyroid and blood sugar. Can anybody shed some light on this?
if your ingesting it into your throat and chest. then it can turn into bronchitis. I would recommend telling your doctor that, and request antibiotics.
: : I have heard that Medrol can cause and increase in fatigue in some diseases, but not necessarily in : : : : MS. What other diseases with characteristic fatigue could show an increase in fatigue with the introduction : : : : of a Medrol Pak? : : : Dear Lee: : : : What was the infection? For most patients with MS, actually, steroids seems to give them a boost, not only in energy but also in affect. But yes, it can cause fatigue and drowsiness.
I have subsequently had two more episodes of pharyngitis, the most recent also causing severe bronchitis.) I am allergic to most antibiotics and had an extreme reaction to augmentin which was given after the erythromycin (I only took one pill) and which caused vomiting so violent that I had tiny red bruises from my cheekbones to my hairline and dark purple bruises under my eyes, red "whites" of the eyes and a small amount of bleeding from them as well.

Next, lungs are severely infected=Bronchitis now. Its been 14 days and I'm missing University classes and am worried. Short of breath, using inhalers that don't work.I've been on Apo-Sulfatrim 800/160 2 times daily and small lung improvement. New problem: Today,Left Lymph node under mandible swollen and tender, throat sore. Lungs hurt, but now in central chest, not in upper L and R lung as last week? I am allergic to: penicillin, Erc/ Zithromax, clydomyicin, anything penicllin related.
On June 11th, I was diagnosed with bronchitis for which I was given amoxycillin for a week. I took the amoxycillin, and apparently, it did not work, as it turned into pneumonia by July, when I got an amazingly bad case of it. Then, my general doctor gave me another antibiotic called sulfamethoxazole/trimrthoprim for a week. I had such a bad case of pneumonia that I could barely even crawl to the bathroom from my bed. I've never been so sick in my life.
I have been frequently prescribed antibiotics (no penicilin or sulfa as I have been allergic since a child) over the past two years for having several bouts of sinus infections, throat infections and bronchitis symptoms. Suddenly, since April I started developing strange symptoms while taking any antibiotic. The antibiotics I've taken since April are Avelox, Zithromax, Clindamycin and Biaxin (all of which I haven taken previously over the years w/ no problems).
Dr. thought I developed bronchitis and prescribed me clindamycin and benzononate. I took the meds for a week and have taken clindamycin before. Two days ago I woke up and the inside of my palms and my fingers (only on the inside) felt strange. They feel cold and it's almost like I am wearing some type of gloves. I can't say they are tingling and I don't believe it is numbness.
Perhaps the z-pack was out of my system by then. I started back on the mynocycline and called her. I waited two weeks and that and nothing much is happening. She thinks I need a higher dosage and one that is time released. I also find that my face is inflamed more when I drink a couple glasses of wine, or drink diet coke, or anything with caffine in it. I have looked at pictures of regular rosacea, and I don't look like that. Plus this itches like crazy.
I started running a fever on Sunday and felt really funny with bad headaches so I called my doc and he told me to go to the ER and he'd phone in orders. I got there, and could barely see or breathe so I made my hubby call my doc and he came up. Ordered a CT and Chest X-Ray (insert anxiety attack here x3) and both were fine, my incision in the belly button was really red around it and my fever spiked so they admitted me and started high dose antibiotics.
the Left was half filled and could possible clear with ..yea you got it..more Antibiotics and Prednisone. So drug of choise here was Clindamycin (beware) and the said Prednisone.Managed the pred for 3 days. and my blood sugar hit the roof, cramping legs, numbness in legs...total weak feeling. If it is sensitive to clindamycin then they give a combination of vancomycin and linezolid or linezolid and clindamycin. So, it depends on what the lab tests show and whether he actually has pneumonia or not. You should not have intimate contact with him until they say he is definitely healed.
So, a soft diet for several weeks, can't see a dentist for another week. Good thing the flu turned to bronchitis and I am on antibiotic or I probly would have an absess by next week. But, I am undetectable and feel on top of the world! Thank you all again!

The only antibiotic I can now take seems to be Clindamycin ...and I get sick every time I use it...hence the coming to this forum. lol Thanks for all the help!
And said he is going more by symptoms that I have a third. He has me on Clindamycin and a load of homeopathic treatments. IAG, Kapperest, Sytox, probiotics, and a regimen of vitamins. It is a great deal to deal with. He emphasizes I limit carbs. He told me to start Sam-e recently, 800 mg. Due to the looming depression and neurological difficulties I'm having. I questioned the high dose. He assured me it was fine. What he neglected to ask me is if I was ever diagnosed bi-polar.
I was reading about numbness and tingling in hands and feet and you make several references to long term side effects from quinolones. What do you reccomend in lieu of these antibiotics? I have recently (today) been prescribed Levaquin..Originally prescribed Keflex, but I had an allergy to amoxicillin 1 year ago--1 hive and some facial swelling--post dental surgery. At that time, I was put on prednisone and amoxicillin post an extraction--per the oral surgeon -"it was routine".
Hey everyone,my doctor saw my bump today and he said I have an infection,so he prescribed me with clindamycin(4 times a day for 10 days). He did notice that some of the tick is still inside me(ewwww). I had to see it myself,so I got my make-up mirror and saw some black in there. I just wanted to update everyone, talk to you all later, byee!!
I walk 30-40 minutes a day and try to eat a diet that supports my liver taking a few supplements, (Selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid, SAM E, and Vitamin E occasionally C. and milk thistle)Primary symptoms of concern are low energy to fatigue and a lack of mental acuity. This varies to feeling scatter brained and memory loss to inability to sustain concentration. No matter what I do 6.5 hours is the most sleep I can get, often 5 is the routine. I frequently have an ache in my right side.
I been continuing with mild non-soaps like Cetaphil with Clindamycin in morning and either metrogel or Sulfaced in evening. This past week I've been dropping the evening part some days and simply using Aloe Vera Gel which I also now use as my primary "moisturizer" with an application of Jojoba oil sometimes mid day. I may try getting off of everything for a while, just using Aloe Vera gel, Jojoba oil and maybe Sebanil cleaner to cut some of the oil.
I'm a 32 yr old overweight female for the past 4 yrs I have had chronic ear infections, asthma & bronchitis since my early teens. 2yrs ago my ankle began to swell & was sore. For 6 months I was told it was a sprain & finally the MD sent me to an orth. surgeon. They did surgery to remove what they thought was a sucessory (sp) bone the size of a golf ball. After analysis they found it to be a benign tumor. Approx.
I was trying to write it off as the toilet paper, etc! But then I became more and more worried, and began to research it and that's when I came across this website. After reading everything I decided to go see my OBGYN. He of course tested me for Herpes, and even though I had read everything that you have all been through, and knowing that none of your tests had come back positive, I was still nervous. He also tested me for a yeast infection.
Thanks to Duchess47, Wepst and JDanMan for your comments and suggestions. I will seriously look into all of your suggestions and hope that it's just some seasonal allergy thing. Thanks again.
Yeah. Well that's what I hope-related to some kind of yeast thing, and not HPV-which would mean I have to wait until it runs it's course with me. My doctor actually told me to stick with the gold bond if it works, but that's treating the symptoms...sigh. I just had a run of anti biotics after a surgery, wouldn't that take care of any kind of BI/yeast/uti??
Ive got the itching and the wet clear fluid, but mine ends up sticky with a nasty odour..And my left ear has clogged shut..but i am in extreme pain now because i hav swelling around my left jaw..and yes it is really hard o stop the itching.. But unlike u i cant take tablets..
At first I thought it was my liver because it got worse when I drank, so I got a PET scan of my liver and spleen and got blood tests and everything was normal. I also got a endoscopy and colonoscopy because I was constipated for 2 weeks and that was all normal except for chronic gastritis. My uncle is a nurse and said that the pain sounds like it could be my gallbladder, so I had a ultrasound on my gallbladder, pancreas and right kidney 2 days ago and they said everything is normal there too.
