So I caught a bacteria on my throat last month and was prescribed with Amoxicillin. It got rid of the infection, but then right after my tonsils from inside my throat was swollen and was taking Prednisone. It went away. I felt better and now I have it again. A bacteria on my tonsils and I found out I am getting it from my filthy fan. This time the doctor gave me Clindamycin.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
My dentist uncovered the implant and did a bone graft over the top of the implant where the infection had eaten the bone away. He soaked it in clindamycin and I took clindamycin orally afterwards.
Six weeks after that, I started feeling bad again. My dentist put me on another round of clindamycin coupled with metronidazole. A 3D CONE x-ray showed that there was infection behind the top of the implant. This time, I had an oral surgeon uncover the implant and clean it out.

Over the course of the last month and a half I have been on 4 different antibiotics for different problems. Biccilin, azithromycin, amoxicillin, and clindamycin. About a week ago after I finished the clindamycin I had absolute crazy diarrhea, abdominal pain(mostly radiating from my right side) and loss of appetite. I was tested for cdiff. I was told by a doctor I might have a chest infection so she put me on 500mg of amoxicillin three times a day. I'm also on diazepam for muscle spasms and anxiety. I cannot remember is she said it was ok go take them both together.
If ok to take together this will put my mind at rest and stop me panicing.
No available alternatives to treat the infection have been suggested as my reactions previously have included Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Clindamycin, and any sulfa based meds. Does anyone know what my Dentist should be suggesting as options...I'm having a root canal tomorrow too... HELP?
The main 2 antibiotics dentists like in the US are Amoxicillin and Clindamycin. However, if Cipro has worked for you in the past, there is no reason your dentist can't prescribe that for you instead (other than drug interactions if you are taking other meds). Talk to your dentist about it. Clindamycin is a great antibiotic, but its usually better for more severe infections and it does tend to cause a lot of GI problems. Azithromycin is also good if Clindamycin makes you that sick.
I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
The best antibiotic is probably amoxicillin or clindamycin. Ciprofloxacin would work. I don't usually prescribe bactrim. I don't really prescribe ciprofloxacin either.
1) can all of these antibiotics ive been on delay/impact tests taken?
2) are my tests up to this point a good indication of a - status?
3) can my root canal have delayed p24 from showing up on tests?
4) at what day would my tests be considered conclusive?
They did a re-treatment on the tooth. My dentist had put on me on pain meds and amoxicillin. two days after the retreatment I was in horrible pain. I went back to the endo to have an I&D done. My face was very swollen for two days. They then switched my meds to clindamycin(2 rounds) The swelling has gone away mostly but there is still a little swollen area near the tooth where the I&D was done. Every day it is an improvement but it still hurts.
So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.
I had the same thing happened to me before, I had bacteria on my tonsils and in the back of my throat and I used amoxicillin but it only killed the bacteria on my tonsils. Then from not treating the bacteria in the back of my throat caused my tonsils down my throat to swell so I was prescribed prednisone. It cured. But this time the doctor gave me Clindamycin and the bacteria is going away in the tonsils but not in the back of the throat yet.
A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. The usually preferred antibiotics are amoxicillin, clindamycin, penicillins and metrogyl.Azithromycin may raise serum methadone levels and/or increase the effects of methadone. The roots were dead when extracted and since the need for root canals was due to trauma and not decay, I was told that I would have aching for a day and a half and would probably not need the pain pills I was prescribed. I began a course of Amoxicillin.
For two days after the root canal, I had a very sharp pain in these teeth any time they were touched or even brushed slightly by my lips, food, or a fork.
If amoxicillin is not effective, switching to clindamycin+metronidazole may help clear dental infection.
Asked if ER prescribed Clindamycin, I said no, he said continue Amoxicillin, do hot compresses, and mouthwash, and I should be fine.
Forgot to say my glands on both sides are swollen, and I am STILL in pain, and visually, I am NO better.
m taking hydrocodone every 4-5 hours and ibuprofen every 6 hours, amoxicillin 3x/day and an oral mouth rinse 3x/day. He says everything looks like it's healing well, but I can't stand the pain! I go back again Thursday and he said he would give me something stronger if I"m still in pain. Has anyone else had any issues with this? I can't sleep, I can't talk long without pain, and I've been in bed most of the 5 days after surgery.
