Avatar m tn I am still having night sweats BADLY. My dr put me on Climara Pro. I am concerned about the stroke and dementia risks that it lists. I have been on it for a week and its helping me, although I am very bloated which does not work well for a recovering eating disorder/alcoholic, (just saying). Is it too dangerous for me because of my blood flow. Will the bloating subside? I have stopped eating mostly again, but I am more worried about the blood?
Avatar f tn "Overlapping" may help. When you put on the new patch, leave the old one on for a half or full day before removing. If that doesn't work, you could try switching to the weekly Climara patch and "overlap" it if you still have the migraine trigger. I used the patch for over a year and it didn't work well for me due to the fluctuations and not giving me enough estrogen. But it did not cause migraines but I was never one to suffer with those, thankfully.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, just a question about HRT.............. anyone out there on it, and does it affect your MS drugs, and did it help?? I was prescribed Climara .05 in a patch once a week, and I'm scared to try it. I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried these drugs and what was your take on them. Any feedback would be appreciated.... Thxs..
Avatar n tn Great posts! I really don't have much to add except passion: I'm 57 and there's no way I will go off hormones (Vivelle patch, which is a bioidentical hormone) and testosterone. I am feaking out a little now because I just got a letter from our new insurance company saying they won't pay for Vivelle... they will only cover a generic form of Climara (also a bioidentical patch, but made from.... um... yams, I think, where as Vivelle is from soy... or is it the other way around?).
Avatar f tn Postmenopausal bleeding, timing of meds& 15mm lining by iatrofears, less than a minute Hi my last period was 11/2011 so i guess as of 11/2012 i started menopause. March 2013 i started climara patch& progesterone but since the patch gave me hives i was only partially compliant. Also i'd forget to take the progesterone sometimes. Tests: 1.Ultrasound 8/2012( before true 'menopause' began because only 8 months of no periods not 12). The endometrium thickness 7.
Avatar f tn the patch im in is 0.
Avatar f tn Some women find that trying a different brand can make a world of difference such as switching from Vivelle-Dot or Minivelle (3 day patch) to Climara (7 day patch). They have different adhesives that can affect uptake of the estrogen. The Vivelle-Dot did not work well for me and I didn't know any better to try Climara. If the patch doesn't work out, there are pills, gels, and vaginal rings you can try. Hope you find something that helps soon! I know how desperate it can feel!
709441 tn?1233340088 I am not a doctor, just someone who has been on Bioidentical hormones since 2000 after my Hysterectomy (radical). I, too, started that very day on an estrogen patch. I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go. The book I mentioned a thousand times has been the most helpful to me. "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr.
Avatar m tn Why would one side hurt worse than the other. They also put me on a hormone patch called Climara. Has anyone taken this and is it good.
Avatar f tn i am on meddicine for anxiety and depression, and the patch is generic climara i believe its the lowest dose i took it off last night i see a dr on the 16 that chedcks bllood levels ,i believe this patch was adding to my anxiety,i dont know if it will pass or not i have not seen the kind of dr u mention but i have had my thyroid chrecked millions of times over the years and its always ok
Avatar f tn I started hormones last week and they put me on the vivelle dot patch. I put a patch (0.1mg) on every Monday morning and change it on Thurs night to a new patch. Sometimes they have to tweak the dose as a person might need more in the beginning. That seems to be the case for me. The NP at my gyn/oncs office yesterday told me to change the patch after 2 days for now to see how I do. I was getting irritable and had an increase in night sweats by the last day and just feeling kinda yucky.

Avatar n tn I cant go anything that has a patch. I tried with Climara and it ripped off my skin.I'm allergic to adhesives but I wanted to try anyways. I will look into Bio-identical and yes I know what Premarin is made from. It wasn't to pleasant knowing. I'm going to give my relations with my hubby a little more time, then call my dr. I wasn't sure if other women had this issue. I didnt want to feel stupid calling him and saying "hey I cant have sex" whats going on?....
Avatar f tn t totally dicount the use of Estradiol (in the form of a patch...either Vivelle or Climara) in the future. You can look at my journal comments on my profile page where I speak a bit about Bioidentical hormones ... There are comments from others there too.. and, their experiences. To Tobesmartt... there is some GREAT information from Dr. Erika Schwartz (hormone specialist) on why our Grandmothers, etc., did not suffer quite as much as we seem to be now...
Avatar f tn Hi Gayleen, I am going to suggest you consider it is time for a change in the dosage of your patch. I am hoping you are on a Bioidentical patch... all of the info I am about to share is info regarding this type of estrogen patch. I don't know much about the synthetic patches and from what I have read, you will not get the same type of relief since there are "issues" with the synthetics... dose often not high enough...
178345 tn?1242536246 Hi Girls - Just wondering anyone on HRT Patch..Vivelle Dot..Lately, I have been so tired..extremely tired and my joints hurt..I am not sure what this is related to..wondering if it has to do with the hormone patch??? I am eating well and losing weight (on purpose) so I dont know what is wrong..tomorrow I am seeing my primary MD..Just thought if anyone has any idea...please share..
Avatar f tn I seriously doubt that migranes are related to menopause..they are related to stress so by having stress from hyster, and medically induced menopause it could be said there is a connection. I saw the Ophrah show you speakof and I am 47 have had a medically induced menopause via hysterectomy also...my doctor recomedded bio identical hrt I only take estrogen...its good for bone desity, helps with nerves and anger outbursts I was having also took away hot flashes and insomnia..
Avatar f tn I am only on Climara Patch/postmenopausal however have been under alot of stress in the last six month with family health issues..
4128244 tn?1350073611 I've read somewhere that estradiol (I'm on the patch) can increase your T4. Has anyone else heard this? Also, that time of day and fasting can affect TSH. I'm going for TSH, FT4, and FT3 tomorrow. Thanks!
1651832 tn?1301690605 The only reason I would switch to that form of Estradiol is because my new health insurance is charging so much for the Vivelle and will only cover the generic form of the Climara patch (also a bioidentical estradiol and not a bad choice, but I have heard that women are not liking the generic version. Maybe it will get better sooooon... I hope!) I also take testosterone along with that hormone.
Avatar n tn Hi, I just started 2 weeks ago HRT.... I am on .05 Climara patch, and I will keep you posted to say if I notice any real help. I am still having the hot moments ( as I call theM).... but the rest of the things have not gotten better. My mood is still not good, and I'm quite cranky. ( also been on antibiotics for bronchitis/sinus intection), and the agitation and bitchiness is common, so now after 2 weeks, I have stopped the pills.
Avatar f tn Hi, just wanted to comment. Cherie762 has given you information that is right on and I really can't add any more. After suffering from cysts, first on one ovary (which resulted in its removal), then a year later more problems with cysts along with adenomyosis, I had a total hysterectomy in March 08. I'm on the Climara patch and feel great, better than I've felt in a long time. I'm 49 and my recovery took longer than the 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi Brook, I hope that is you name, thankyou so much for the feedback, it is a relief to have someone explain things from human to human, doctors are sometimes inhuman I am on Diaformin for my diabetes 250ml once daily because it got all messed up when I had to take antibiotics for about 4 months for another condition called intestitial cystitis which was diagnosed by a gyno, I take Ternormin for my abnormal heart beat, I take Nexium for reflux, I take Antenex to help me sleep, and lipitor for ch
Avatar n tn Been on Climara ever since. I had my regular mamogram a few weeks ago and after radiologist suggested u/s and then core biopsy. The pathology report came back as fibrocystic changes with adenosis but the radiologist felt the films were discordant with pathology and sent me to a breast surgeon. The surgeon declared that the lump in my breast was "worrisome" and scheduled me for surgical removal of entire lump with margins. I had surgery on Monday.
