Climara bioidentical

Common Questions and Answers about Climara bioidentical

activella

Avatar n tn they will only cover a generic form of Climara (also a bioidentical patch, but made from.... um... yams, I think, where as Vivelle is from soy... or is it the other way around?). I may just pay the extra to stay on Vivelle, I love it so much. My doc is great about giving samples to me as a supplement to what I already take (nice if I lose a patch, in particular). I don't know much about the generic Climara (bigger patch...
Avatar f tn The vivelle, vivelle dot and Climara are all bioidentical hormones like Kate was talking about. They are supposed to be very similar to our own hormones, but they are still not our own :( Take it from me though, they are great.
709441 tn?1233340088 I need to update mine, but my old posts can be found on my profile and you might find the information helpful. I am not a doctor, just someone who has been on Bioidentical hormones since 2000 after my Hysterectomy (radical). I, too, started that very day on an estrogen patch. I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, just a question about HRT.............. anyone out there on it, and does it affect your MS drugs, and did it help?? I was prescribed Climara .05 in a patch once a week, and I'm scared to try it. I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried these drugs and what was your take on them. Any feedback would be appreciated.... Thxs..
Avatar f tn And, I cannot recall how bioidentically friendly this packaged hormone is. Remember, if you are on either Vivelle estradiol or Climara, you are on a bioidentical. It does not have to come in a cream form to be bioidentical. And frankly, the patches work so well ... the cream is fine, but if you are working with someone who likes to mix estradiol with estriol, that should be a big discussion. Estradiol is now the preferred estrogen. Much of the hoopla around Estriol years ago has died down.
Avatar f tn Vivelle is a bioidentical and I am assuming you are on that or you are on Climara, which is similar to Vivelle in that it is Estradiol only and yet Climara patch lasts a bit longer and so you don't have to change it as often. In my case, my estrogen levels have not been high enough over the past few years, compounded with too much Progesterone. More on that in a minute. I should not have been using it at all.
Avatar n tn But the thought is that without ovaries, the body cannot utilize progesterone as was once thought. Examples of this type of estrogen in its bioidentical form include Climara and Vivelle at various doses. Having said that, there is also a school of thought that the only thing needed is Estradiol and very little progesterone.. to keep the levels from fluctuating, which is what you are experiencing (in my opinion...
Avatar m tn I am still having night sweats BADLY. My dr put me on Climara Pro. I am concerned about the stroke and dementia risks that it lists. I have been on it for a week and its helping me, although I am very bloated which does not work well for a recovering eating disorder/alcoholic, (just saying). Is it too dangerous for me because of my blood flow. Will the bloating subside? I have stopped eating mostly again, but I am more worried about the blood?
Avatar f tn What hormone patch were you on right after your surgery? Was it Vivelle or Climara? Both are Bioidentical hormones (Estradiol, or E2). I am not familiar with Femtrace... you can google to see if it is a Bioidentical or not... and see if it is Estradiol. Personally, for me that is the ONLY way to go from now on.
Avatar f tn (Vivelle or Climara patch are both bioidentical estradiol) is used, even though these hormones are made from soy or yams in a lab, the end result is something that the body sees as 'normal' to what you used to make in spades... thus keeping your levels of estrogen (since Premarin is estrogen only... Prempro is estrogen and progestin) stable during menopause. It is the fluctuations in hormones that can cause hot flashes, etc.
Avatar f tn t totally dicount the use of Estradiol (in the form of a patch...either Vivelle or Climara) in the future. You can look at my journal comments on my profile page where I speak a bit about Bioidentical hormones ... There are comments from others there too.. and, their experiences. To Tobesmartt... there is some GREAT information from Dr. Erika Schwartz (hormone specialist) on why our Grandmothers, etc., did not suffer quite as much as we seem to be now...
Avatar f tn Is there a list of physicians who utilize bioidentical hormone therapy in their practice in the Reno area?
Avatar m tn The first thing your wife needs to do is set an alarm (perhaps on her cell phone) so she doesn't forget that second dose of Armour. The T4 will not keep her from wearing down later in the day as much as the second dose of Armour will. I know all the rage is for bio-identical hormones, just like some people think desiccated thyroid hormones are the best because they're "natural".
Avatar n tn More and more physicians who know anything at all about HRT or BHRT (Bioidentical HRT) do not recommend the type of estrogen that is in Birth Control pills for menopausal use. The difference between a bioidentical estrogen patch such as Climara or Vivelle (one made from soy and one from yams but bioidentical in the body to what we once made naturally) is so huge that they should not even be in the same classification.
Avatar f tn What is the difference? Itake bioidentical patch, lowest dose. I'm confused how that differs from HRT??
Avatar f tn t take the sublingual, bioidentical progesterone he prescribed nor should I continue to eat protein bars and other sources of soy protein which provide a natural bioidentical estrogen. She said there is an increased cancer risk associated with both progesterone and estrogen supplementation. Since I have high risk HPV (cancer causing) I should not take these supplements. Does anybody know anything about the increased cancer risk associated with bioidentical hormone enhancement???
Avatar m tn Hi Bob and Angela, I had a hysterectomy 21 years ago with removal of ovaries. For the last 4 years, I've used bioidentical hormone pellets. These pellets are implanted under the skin of my hip. I get estrogen and testosterone. Estrogen for hot flashes, night sweats, dry skin, anxiety. moodiness. Testosterone for my sex drive. Prior to the pellets, I was on estrogen and managed those symptoms. For 16 years, I had little sex drive.
Avatar n tn *****I know that this is controversial but I stand by my belief that the body treats the true bioidentical hormone as it would a hormone that our body once made.
Avatar n tn I would recommend seeing a doctor that specializes in bioidentical hormones and menopause. As we age, we produce less estrogen which is important in preventing vaginal atrophy and lubrication and testosterone which is absolutely key to our libido and all things sexual, our ability to become aroused, our sensitivity and ability/quality of orgasm. I have estrogen and testosterone implants in my hip and I can say they work! There are options and there is no need for you to lose your sex drive.
1103360 tn?1258309599 Find a bioidentical hormone dr or antiaging dr who can give you "natural" bioidentical hormones so your body will accept them. Just google and you will find a lot in your town. Synthetic hormones are not always good for you as your body has told you already!!
Avatar f tn My first dr. gave me premarin ( not bioidentical-synthetic) and I thought I would go crazy. She never checked my levels prior. New dr. checked me, I am estrogen dominant, so that is why I felt so bad. and extremely low in progesterone. I am now on low dose of bioidentical progesterone, feeling somewhat better. I just had my levels rechecked after 6 months due to change in symtoms ( lots of hot flashes). Awaiting resutls, but I am sure my progestrone is low again because of terrible, insomnia.
Avatar f tn "Overlapping" may help. When you put on the new patch, leave the old one on for a half or full day before removing. If that doesn't work, you could try switching to the weekly Climara patch and "overlap" it if you still have the migraine trigger. I used the patch for over a year and it didn't work well for me due to the fluctuations and not giving me enough estrogen. But it did not cause migraines but I was never one to suffer with those, thankfully.
Avatar n tn I will write tonight after work... in the meantime, check my journal comments on Bioidentical Hormones. It sounds as if you are on a very good product.... Sorry my post got 'lost.
