Avatar m tn You or anyone can stop taking taking their AD medication at anytime. There are only a few major problems with doing so: (1.) Your Depression has about an 85% chance of returning without the medication to keep it a bay. Given that you take Citalopram, I will assume that you have been disgnosed with Major depression. Unfortunatly most times depression like this doesn't just go away.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I think you'll get more responses on the anxiety and depression forums. I take it, but a low dose as I started tapering off a long long time ago and had to stop because of health problems that keep coming and I don't want to be in withdrawal facing them. It hasn't worked for me, but it was a long shot since my biggest problem now is what quitting Paxil did to me -- I didn't take it before that.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with anxiety and depression for the past year and have been taking 40mg of Citalopram. The past couple of months I have been feeling fantastic but the past week I am starting to feel down and like there is no point to anything again. The only thing I can think is I missed 2 days of my Citalopram and I have been taking it sporadically instead of the same time every day, I'm skipping a day here and there! Could that be the reason?
Avatar f tn I would not recommend Zoloft. On another Depression web site, there's a long thread about how bad the withdrawal symptoms are from it. I have chronic pain and I've done the opiate withdrawal and IT *****! I would like to get off my pain meds but it's either just been too hard or I have too much pain. Can't win, but less would be better. Therefore, the Zoloft my PCP doc recently prescribed I am not going to take.....took it for a week and then saw those posts! Wow!
1128565 tn?1316721143 Hi All its Lorraine The specialist changed my antidepressant from 150mg's venlafluxine to 20 mg's of citalopram. I am feeling really tired and every night my legs are aching off me, last night I didn;t sleep much as I was having palpitations. Can anyone relate to this? Good job we've got these sites, or we'd go mad!!
Avatar n tn Hi Sounds like your still having withdrawals from Citalopram because they actually cause anxiety and depression as a withdrawal symptom these are not nice tablets to come off. If I were you I'd go and ask to change to Prozac as these are much easier to get off than effexor I should know as ive gone cold turkey coming off effexor and boy have I suffered.
Avatar m tn s difficult for me to even write this question in an articulate and concise fashion. I expected to feel emotional side effects from the withdrawal of citalopram, such as irritability and depression. But these physical sensations, such as dizziness, distant-mindedness, and a general feeling of being "impregnated in the head" are all very unexpected. Has anyone experienced similar withdrawal symptoms from either of these medications?
Avatar n tn Im 33 and was diagnosed with sever depression and anxiety when I was 17. I tried so many different therapies and pills, but only found something that worked 3 years ago. Since then I've been on 40mg of citalopram and it's changed my life. However since being pregnant I haven't taken them due to a risk of heart defects.
Avatar f tn i have had depression for 5 years and am treated with citalopram 40mg at times i get such bad anxiety and nausea and dizziness icant really connect it to any depressive episodes though i do feel sick when my nerves are bad also does anyone know how to wean yourself off medication very slowly
4676475 tn?1357862304 Hey, well i been taking citalopram(40mg) almost for three years, i am 19 years old recently last week i been trying to stop taking them for the reason that later in life i want to be healthy and taking no type of medication because i want to have kids and have a family, but it seems not be happening for me i just started with the anxiety last night and i hate the side effects on not taking the medication. well my main question is if its safe taking this medication while pregnancy?
Avatar f tn s now been 4 weeks since I took my last citalopram and nothing has changed. How long can the side effects from the citalopram affect the Wellbutrin?
1128565 tn?1316721143 Sometimes it's hard to tell what's symptoms of withdrawal and what's a return of symptoms of depression. What you are experiencing can be classic anxiety/depression symptoms. What is dolsulipin? Can't seem to find it. Going back on effexor may make you better but you still won't know whether it was withdrawal or the illness causing your problems.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks later i went to work one morning and i was really tired because i didnt sleep the night before at all, what happened next was i literally burst, felt like a stroke or something severely happened to my brain and was instantly paralized with extreme anxiety. After a week or so i started citalopram, and was basically all over the place for a few months. After running the hospital thinking i was actually mad my doctor doubled my citalopram to 40mg and after 2 days i was NORMAL!
Avatar n tn I have however been reading alot about withdrawal because my daughter is weaning off an AD (Lexapro). You might try supplements such as Omega 3 fish oil, magnesium and Vit C.
Avatar f tn I wasnt sure if i wanted to take a anti-dep again as the last few ive tried have slight and reversed affects so wasnt to sure and also i thought it would only mask the problem. but after huge waves of depression due to the lack of energy, fatiuge ect i was totaly exhasted so i started to take this new citalopram the doctor prescribed. I have been taking them for 4 weeks now and already am felling really good. Infact i cant belive the vast improvement.
1128565 tn?1316721143 Hi Never felt so ill in all my life waking up with palpitations, running to the loo and nausea this is week 8 since they change my meds from Citalopram 20 mg's and a month before that I was on Venlafluxine/eflexor for years this is what has caused the problem. Now on Dolsulipin also called Prothiaden at 50 mg's for the last 8 weeks which is a tricyclic not an SSRI like the other two I feel like I'm dying don't know how much more I can take. Please please can anyone advise.
