Citalopram with valium

Common Questions and Answers about Citalopram with valium

lexapro

Avatar f tn citalopram is an antidepressant so that will not help with WD at all. are you WD from valium? if that is the case I would go to ER to get enough to hold you over until you can go into to see your doctor. Benzo WD can be awful and dangerous at certain times. best of luck.
Avatar f tn Hi there. You should take Valium only under doctor's supervision and instruction. You are best to get information like this from your doctor or pharmacist. You are wise to be cautious I am not sure what mg. strength of Valium they gave you, but would advice that you check in with your doctor for specifics for yourself.
Avatar f tn I have had problems with my anxiety on and off. Lately its back and I have also experienced panic attacks. My doctor gave me Xanax .25 mg to try but I feel like when I take it, it actually makes my anxiety worse. I felt more anxious and felt like it made my chest feel funny making it harder for me to breathe. My mother has a prescription for Valium 5mg and she told my to take half of one of her pills which I did and I feel like that helped me better.
Avatar f tn This guy was old school and we went with Valium 10mg 3 times a day. That of course worked great and two months later I tapered off and got through my situation. I have found other ways to get in trouble but life is like that. I'd say if you want to try celexa you should be ok but keep an eye on yourself and have you friends watch out for you and have them tell you if you start acting peculiar.
648439 tn?1225058862 t be too concerned - Citalopram might do the trick. It did for me. Interferon interferes with the serotonin transmission in the brain. Citalopram works by improving serotonin reception so it can handle a lot of symptoms. (otoh I've taken sedatives and other things like caffeine while on treatment that have had no affect on my mental state at all.) Good luck!
Avatar m tn HI......glad you found something that worked for you celexa is an antidepressant and many take it for its antianxiety property's it also helps with the post withdrawal depression that is so common stick with it for a wile then have you doctor ween you off it....I have taken it on and off for years for bipolar disorder .......
Avatar f tn Hi, all - I've been absent from the boards for a while, but now I've been dealing w/ my 'new' meds for a few months. I'm on Citalopram (10 mg) and Valium (2 mg daily, 3 if I need the extra at night), in addition to BP meds (atenolol and lisinopril, and a baby aspirin.). I've been seeing a psychiatrist now for about 7 months, and because I'm pretty sensitive to the meds, she has been very good about taking things slow.
Avatar n tn i am currently taking 20mg citalopram, i suffer with server back problems and im usually prescribed naproxen 250mg which help with the pain. Am i able to take my naproxen with my citalopram? as i am currently lots of pain and unsure what can take.
Avatar f tn Medications in the SSRI class like citalopram (brand name Celexa) don't mess with your brain chemistry the way others like xanax, valium or klonopin do. You won't be zoned out and you should begin to notice that you feel better after a few days. My husband and I both take this medication and found it to be more effective than my old lexapro and his zoloft. Regarding your brain chemistry fears, put them to rest.
Avatar f tn Hi, guys - I've been taking 5 mg of Citalopram (Celexa) for just over a week. My doctor started me at that dose and said I probably would not feel anything because it was so low - it was just to get me 'used' to it, as I was very afraid of taking meds. I'm also taking 2mg Valium, half in the am. and half at night. I take the Celexa in the am. At first, I felt nothing - was like huh? This rocks - I don't feel it.
Avatar m tn What exposure risk did you have? Anal or vaginal and was it protected sex?
Avatar m tn so after 2 years of citalopram (40mg/day for one year and 20mg/day for another), and feeling ok with my life i disappeared to stop taking it, i asked my psychiatrist and she said ok. soo september 2012 i stopped.so till december 2012, i was felling ok and then it stared i was feeling i bit depressed in the beginning, did not want to do thing, i was feeling tired most of the time.and as the time gone by i stared feeling worse and worse.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn 05 mg, B12 and Fish Oil supplements, and dark chocolate always heps me with mood swings. I saw on another post that an RX for Promethazine gel to rub on my wrists will help the nauseau. Certainly worth a shot since I am also taking a weekly dose of Methotrexate because I also have System Lupus. So my question is this: Is Citalopram a safe anti-depressant to start after the effexor withdrawal nightmare and when?
Avatar m tn Data from randomised clinical trials consistently show better efficacy with escitalopram than with citalopram, including higher rates of response and remission, and faster time to symptom relief. CONCLUSION: The R-enantiomer present in citalopram counteracts the activity of the S-enantiomer, thereby providing a possible basis for the pharmacological and clinical differences observed between citalopram and escitalopram.
Avatar n tn s concern may come from the fact that the use of an SSRI (citalopram is one) with aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) or other drugs that affect bleeding may increase the likelihood of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. A pain medication such as vicodin which is usually prescribed by dentists, contains acetaminophen which is not a NSAID and does not effect ones bleeding rate. Your dentist may need a course in pharmaceuticals.
1255563 tn?1289427231 That was fun to google -- lots of porn there. This appears to be a pharmaceutical product combining three medications for cold and cough. The antihistamine part apparently can be sedating, as so many medications are, but as it's a side effect and you can't take too much of it, I'd probably give this a pass. I'd try some melatonin 1mg and see if that helps.
Avatar f tn Hi there...I take Wellbutrin XL (300 mg extended release bupropion) and no I didn't gain weight on it. I have been on differing doses for over 2 years. Also, no loss of sex drive if that is important to you which is a common side effect of most of the other medications used for anxiety.
Avatar m tn m saw a psychiatrist from the NHS . My GP put me on 20 mgs of citalopram. I used to be taking 40 mgs of citalopram, 50 mgs of dogmatil, and 40 mgs of prozac. But when i came back to london I ran out ofthe medcation and they said that the maximum standard dosage they can give me is 20 mgs of citalopram. I wasnt quite convinced. But thats all they will give me.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed citalopram and only took it a couple of times... it made me so much worse. I had heightened panic attacks with it.. these damn drugs are horrible!!!!!
