citalopram with klonopin

Hello everyone I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.

Hello, My doc has me starting citalopram for severe anxiety attacks. She has me on one quarter of a 20 mg tab for four days, then a half tab for four, three quarters for four days and finally a full twenty. Has anyone else started like this? The doc wanted to help me with side effects since I am very sensitive in the stomach. Will starting this slower make the theraputic effects take longer to show. I am desperate to feel normal again. I am on .25 of xanax to help with the transition.

t be any concern with taking the two medications concurrently. Actually, it would not be advised to cut your Klonopin taper short and stop taking that abruptly, as benzodiazepine withdrawal can be dangerous. Definitely give your doc a call to clarify that he wants you to start the citalopram right away, but my guess is, that's what his plan was. Keep in touch!

Yesterday the dr told me to stop taking the celexa and continue with the xanax. Which I can take up to 4 times a day. I tried citalopram 50 mg back in 2010-2011 but was taken off of it because of increased anxiety and also sucidal thoughts. We decided the dr and I to try a baby dose of citalopram this time and see if it would help. Because I am at a different place now than I was back then. So I have taken 8 doses of the xanax so far which has been half a pill every time.

The only way that I can get through the day is with the help of xanax. I am just wondering if anyone on this site has tried lexapro and just to see if it worked with anyone. My doctor said that I had GAD so I was just wondering as well what other medications could be suitable for this other than lexapro. I really want something to work because I really want to try to get off the xanax as soon as I can.

You probably know tht citalopram or Klonopin is highly addictive. I had a doc. try to get me to take it but I refused...I don't need an addiction on top of everything else! Why double your troubles. If you are concerned about your drugs, ask your p-doc to prescribe something else.

hey all i have been on celexa 40 mg for a month or so after swithcing from lexapro 20 mg for a month due to insurance. i also take in 05 mg of clonazapam with my celexa in the morning when i most anxious. i feel like the celexa just doesnt help alone with anxiety. i feel guilty sometimes haveing to take 2 meds but that being said i think the clonazepam works best! i heear so many bad stories about klonopin but i am taking a small dose and i am aware of the addictive quality so im catious.

Hi Again. I was wondering if anyone on this board is on Celexa { Citalopram}. And could they tell me how it feels? I mean do you feel better? As I am supposed to start soon on this medication. Right now I am on Anafranil and klonopin. Dr has decided to try this medication to see if it will make me better because right now I am not. And also how long before I can take Celexa because I am still on Anafranil. I take 50mgs once a day in the night time.

My GP and my therapist said that 15mg isn't even a therapeutic dose and I'm just prolonging the side effects by waiting to go to 20mg, and since I've been on the 15 for 5 days, tonight I'm just going to start the 20mg. I was up at 6am thinking I was having a heart attack from the anxiety. Nobody thinks it's from the Citalprolam so, I guess I will just try and see. And I'll just keep on with the xanax if needed.

My doctor prescribed me Effexor XR and I got my prescription filled but before taking it I decided to do some research about this drug. The withdral and side affects scared me so I decided agains this drug. Then doctor priscribed me Citalopram and I've been taking it since. I have been taking citalopram 20mg a day for about 3 months. At the time of my visits to the doctor I had an insurance that covered my drugs, now I don't have my insurance any longer.

Is it normal or should I ask my doc to go back to my low dose? Also do you think Id benefit with klonopin prn I tend to get seriouse anxiety at time in school its alot worse then summer socially then generally.

About two weeks ago my doc switched me from citalopram to paxil .20. It seemed to completely cures the nausea and frequent runs to the bathroom. She gave me klonopin .50 to help me sleep and not wake up with the anxiety. I actually sleep almost the whole night and wasn't paniced when I did. I was feeling good. I was still taking four xanax .25 a day, but began to ween off. Now I am down to one a day. I have been feeling good. I have been able to eat. I was not as afraid to be alone.

My mom stayed on the phone with me until 11 pm and kept trying to get me to go to the kitchen to get my Klonopin. I was convinced in my head it was not safe to leave the bathroom (thank God the baby was asleep!) There are other meds available. I know it feels like the doctors are using you as a test subject, but it took me over a decade to get on the right medication to control my anxiety. Keep trying! Everyone is different.

i am currently taking 20mg citalopram, i suffer with server back problems and im usually prescribed naproxen 250mg which help with the pain. Am i able to take my naproxen with my citalopram? as i am currently lots of pain and unsure what can take.

Medications in the SSRI class like citalopram (brand name Celexa) don't mess with your brain chemistry the way others like xanax, valium or klonopin do. You won't be zoned out and you should begin to notice that you feel better after a few days. My husband and I both take this medication and found it to be more effective than my old lexapro and his zoloft. Regarding your brain chemistry fears, put them to rest.

I went and the psych doc the first week of august 08 and she gave me klonopin and citalopram. She thought I was depressed and agoraphobic from panic attacks not thyroid. The klonopin helped immediately to ease the thyroid nervousness. The citalopram SSRI made me feel very anxious after taking it so I could not stay on it. She told me to take the klonopin 4 times a day .5 mg. I felt this was a lot and did not want to get addicted so I never took this much.

t doing a good enough job, so they added Wellbutrin, still with the Ativan. The Ativan stopped working, so they replaced that with Klonopin. And added Guanfacine for nightmares. I got fed up and recently switched psychiatrists. Anyway, Celexa is supposed to be a good choice for people with prominent anxiety along with depression (also, it has very few side effects-- probably the best of the SSRI's as far as that goes), so I'd give it a chance.

Have the side effects improved after starting the Klonopin? You need to keep in touch with your doctor about how you're feeling. Most initial side effects should start improve after 2-3 weeks, it varies from person to person. If these are side effects related to your body adjusting, you should notice some abatement of the symptoms soon. If you don't start noticing an improvement in the side effects, or if they get worse, contact your doctor.

What exposure risk did you have? Anal or vaginal and was it protected sex?

I ,like cnote have been taking lexapro for around 3 weeks now along with klonopin .05 in the am and in the pm. I am on 15 mg of lex and be patient it can take 6 to 8 weeks for its full effect. A small dose of klonopin could be alot of help when starting an ssri.

m on so many anti depressants and anti anxiety medications, including rispedal, neurontin, clonodine, citalopram, klonopin, topamax, trazadone, and Wellbutrin. I KNOW that this is a ton of medication, but I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks. I've had it ever since I was 21 and now I'm 43. I was wondering if I could try introducing natural herbs into the mix slowly, like valerium or camomile?
