Citalopram lexapro dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Citalopram lexapro dosage

celexa

Avatar m tn So use extreme discretion if you choose to keep increasing your dosage of Celexa but personally I recommend you talk to your doctor about discontinuing the drug completely and asking about Lexapro. Once the correct dosage has been prescribed this may work very well for you. Depending on the dosage you are taking now you may consider a different doctor. I wish you well my friend. Take care.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 9. I have been on Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro and now Citalopram for 16 years. At this point the citalopram doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have increased my dosage to 80mg a day and have added xanax about .5 mg 2 to 3 times a day about 1 month ago. I am very depressed and I'm worried about forgetting things. I'm worried about getting alheizmers disease. I need to go to see a neurologist and have some tests done.
4762310 tn?1362165935 Ok , because i was put on seroquel 50 mg and 10 citalopram and where on them for 6 weeks and they did nothing at all, so he upped the seroquel to 100mg and citalopram to 20mg and its been 2 weeks and still nothing , :S
Avatar m tn Hi, Ive have just been prescribed Citalopram today. And im just wondering if anyone else has used these previously?
Avatar n tn But he gave me a 6 month supply of Escitalopram (Lexapro) instead of Citalopram. Escitalopram is just the S enantiomer of citalopram, and apparently has better anti-anxiety effects. Today I finished my previous stock of Citalopram. Unfortunately, my doctor here near my flat is on holiday, tomorrow is All Souls Day which is a holiday too. The next appointment I can get is probably next week. Is it okay to switch to Lexapro? I mean, I have no other choice as of now.
Avatar n tn The doctor won't answer a question on the same thread twice, so if you want to ask him this question you'll need to start a new thread. My own opinion, such as it is, is that when you substitute one drug for another, you can't tell which symptom is withdrawal and which is a side effect of the new med. Another problem here is that Effexor and Lexapro are two different classes of drugs, the first being an snri and the latter an ssri.
1110049 tn?1409402144 s a lot like Lexapro, but for me the side effects are actually fewer but of the same nature. But since neither worked for me well, and since my current problem isn't the usual, I can't tell you how it would have worked when I just had phobias.
Avatar m tn I Have been on Lexapro for about six weeks now and I really dont feel better. The only way that I can get through the day is with the help of xanax. I am just wondering if anyone on this site has tried lexapro and just to see if it worked with anyone. My doctor said that I had GAD so I was just wondering as well what other medications could be suitable for this other than lexapro. I really want something to work because I really want to try to get off the xanax as soon as I can.
1414174 tn?1304680526 Anyone else using Citalopram during TX? I took 20mg for three days.. I felt like I was on another planet?
176495 tn?1301280412 i was also on Lexapro, but it became expensive so I am on Celexa which is a sister medication to Lexapro. Celexa has a generic called Citalopram. However, you might need to take a higher dose of Celexa if it is a good idea for you to switch. Talk to your doc to make sure.....Just my thoughts.
Avatar m tn Both citalopram, (Celexa) and escitalopram, (Lexapro) are SSRI's and both have, as unlabeled uses the control of panic. They both also have CNS side effects of anxiety in the beginning stages of treatment. You say you've been on the citalopram for approximately 5 weeks? It can take up to 35 days for citalopram to reach "steady state" in your blood, which means you won't begin to feel any real relief from your depresson for possibly a bit over a month.
Avatar m tn I was on Lexapro then to citalopram because of costs, added effexor and still had such horrific depression I wouldn't get out of bed for days. Then I started on 5mg saphris twice a day. At first I felt great but a little too high, so went from 80 mg citalopram to 40 mg a day.
Avatar f tn I have been on citalopram for six days and xanax for a month for bad anxiety attacks and all day long anxiety. The mornings are so much worse. Yesterday I had a fairly good day. I felt there was some hope of getting back to myself. In the middle of the night I woke with anxiety attacks and haven't shaken them yet. I am cold, shakey, vomiting, hot through my chest and arms, I can't eat, I keep feeling like I need to pee, I am jittery...the list goes on.
Avatar n tn I had a similar experience with Celexa, which is a very similar drug (celexa is citalopram, lexapro is escitalopram). I also had low blood pressure (78/58 at one point), and worsening depression, which really wasn't helpful since that's what I was taking it for. I was only on it for 4 weeks though...
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn Hi, just wanted to add something to the memory loss due to the use of Lexapro. Since starting Lexapro I sleep more, sometimes more then it's necessary and I truly believe that's my cause for the memory loss/space out-ness. Just a thought.
581954 tn?1223391496 I have used this in the past and it is a type of medication grouped into SSRIs (Zoloft (Sertraline), Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro, etc. These affect people in different ways, so it is sometimes hard to say how each individual will react. I am a big proponent for these types of medications COMBINED with talk therapy. In my opinion, there is no 'magic pill' that will 'cure' you of anxiety or depression.
Avatar n tn I agree with mammo, Citalopram which is the generic of Celexa is almost identical to Lexapro. Lexapro is just a newer version of Celexa. Stopping anti-depressants cold turkey can cause severe withdrawal symptoms. I took it for a while and it only cost 4$ at Target.
Avatar n tn t take it every day, but I do take it 5 out of the 7 days. I was on prozac for a year and then switched to 20mg of lexapro once a day. I want off the xanax and lexapro and know in order to do it right, you have to wean yourself off of it. What would the best way be to wean myself off of these medications so that I have the least side effects possible?
Avatar n tn hi how long does citalopram take to leave your system.
Avatar n tn It is available from some drug stores for as little as $10 for a 90-day supply. If Lexapro worked for you then I think citalopram is a logical choice. It was for me, at any rate.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take Citalopram? (which is just like lexapro). Just want to know if anyone had side effects or if it helped them in any way?? I am one of those who hates to take meds and doesn't unless Im way desperate!! I have a bad cold right now and won't even take anything for it, cept ibuprofen. :) I am afraid to take my anxiety meds!! I don't want to become dependent upon them. I get anxiety attacks on and off.. i can go two months without having one..
Avatar m tn Have you started tapering down your dosage per your doctor's instructions? Just make sure you are not adjusting dosage or quitting it without talking to your doctor first; just ensure you follow his/her instructions. Doing it on your own can cause many unpleasant symptoms that you would not really have to endure if you take it as prescribed.
Avatar f tn The sister drug to Citalopram is Lexapro, which I have been prescribed for depression, but only because I am on 2 mg per day of Xanax, which is the common medication for panic attacks and anxiety. Xanax is in the class of drugs known as "depressants", which obviously will make you "depressed" thus continuing the 3 ring circus of meds, one to depress you , another to fight the depression, and so on.
