Hi, I take this anti depressant and it's working well for me. I've been taking it for about 2 years now. I think it works well for my depression. I take a couple of pain meds now because my pain is kind of out of control. I was diagnosed with fibro 11 years ago. I also have arthritis and degen. disc disease, so my pain isn't controlled by the Celexa. As I said though, the depression is pretty well controlled by it. Hope this helps.
I think thats why my doctor try the zoloft again because i am thinking i am itching and i am not really having reaction to the medicine but he said you do have sentitvie to medicine that why he had a backup medcine for me. my question is anybody taking Zoloft 25mm or Citalopram 20mm before and any side effects from these medicine? also any tips on controling my anxiety and depression ?
For a few months I experience upper arm pain close to my shoulders when I lift my arms up. At the same time I have a constant sinus infection. Can there be any connection? What doctor should I see for my arms/shoulders?
Second question. I was taking Selexa for two weeks and I got a bad skin rash. I stopped taking Selexa three weeks ago but rash doesn't go away. What can be the reason?

I have been on citalopram for a year and a half I got the valium to help with draw off the pain pills hydrocodone and. Oxycodone I'm just not sure if they are safe together??
It's very possible that you are just overly focused on your heart and all it's amusing little quirks that scare the hell out of those of us with anxiety & panic issues. So many of us have heart anxiety and it's very, very difficult for us to accept our hearts are fine when the pains and the palps are so terribly real.
I am seeing the nurse practicianer (SP?) today for a med check. They told me not to take the citalopram last night and see how it goes. I work with the worst panic attack this morning. I am feeling a little lost and hopeless as to what to do now.

I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
On 5/28/2010 I was hit from behind and received a hard blow to the back of my head, cracked my scull, layed in ICU 3 days, came home 3 days later, no med. no pain. Went trough rehab, finished rehab good. About that time we found I had and inner ear problem. Dr. put me on Zyrtec and flonase . The Zyrtec about sent me over the edge. We stopped that.They than put me on citalopram an anti depres and Apprazolam. After two weeks we decied I was having side affects from citalopram.
I have days where I think my world is going to crash around me. But it does pass and things go back to as normal as tx will allow. Comes and goes in waves. If you think you can benefit from an AD then see your doctor. In my case no, but many do. It isn't that I'm opposed to them, they just don't work for me. Unfortunately, AD's are not a cure all for everyone, depends on the individual.

Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price.

A few years ago, I was having a twisting feeling in my chest after taking Celexa. During that time, I had a really intense pain in my right arm and neck- I literally couldn't move my arm or neck without feeling terrible pain. That same night I felt a weird, indescribable feeling in the middle of my head and simultaneously my eyes opened. The next thing I know I felt this electric shock go down from my neck to my legs. I couldn't move anything but my neck for two days.
Hi, I am 20 years old and for the past three months or so i have had chest pains, feeling like I am going to die any second, and its hard for me to get a good sleep. And with chest pain also comes costocondritis (my doctor said) and i have had ekgs, holter monitor, chest xray, and blood work several times and everything came back fine. I was wondering if anxiety can cause my chest pain off and on during the week.
Why was your mother prescribed this medication? It is prescribed for many reasons, high blood pressure, anxiety, cluster headaches, and tremors. It does have a break-in period, and low energy, and sleepiness are part of the break-in period, which can take up to 6 weeks. I have never heard of it being prescribed for depression, but rather anxiety. I think she needs to return to her doctor to re-evaluate this medication.

Hi, I've been suffering with some problems with anxiety for a long time and more recently they have led me to depression. Months back before I started really feeling the depression my doctor had me try out 20 mg's of citalopram. I was on it for three months and really didn't feel a difference in myself, so I decided to go off them. I did have some trouble withdrawing as it was quite the pain in the ***.
I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Hi I am getting bad burning/ tingling in mouth and also same on inner thighs and lower legs with pain behind my ears, neck , under arms and bot knees and elbows. I am on citalopram for anxiety but symptoms getting worse, any ideas?
Both citalopram, (Celexa) and escitalopram, (Lexapro) are SSRI's and both have, as unlabeled uses the control of panic. They both also have CNS side effects of anxiety in the beginning stages of treatment. You say you've been on the citalopram for approximately 5 weeks? It can take up to 35 days for citalopram to reach "steady state" in your blood, which means you won't begin to feel any real relief from your depresson for possibly a bit over a month.
Impossible to predict. Twitches/tremors are things that are associated with SSRI's they are things I've had in past, but they are no problem now. Citalopram failed me after 3 yrs, went on to Effexor XR & that works for me.
I think I went a little overboard will the fiber which made me very gassy and hurt my stomach. I took the 20mg citalopram for about 4 days and could not sleep and also started to develop this aching pain in my ribs, sternum and across my chest. I stopped taking the citalopram yesterday and I am hoping that the pains will go away, but my stomach still hurts and I am still constipated. Every time I go to the bathroom only a little bit comes out, but it doesn't hurt or anything.
