Avatar f tn I'm completely freaking out. I have General Anxiety Disorder and I don't think my medication is working. I've been on Citalopram (20mg) since March but my panic attacks are becoming more frequent, I'm sweating, trembling, my heart is beating super fast, I have really bad nausea, and I'm either sleeping too much or not at all. I'm terrified I'm going to fail my exams because I've been missing so many classes due to these symptoms. Help!

7183990 tn?1388970405 I'm looking for support from anyone who has had derealization or depersonalization disorder for a long period of time. I've had it for 23 years and I've never actually met anyone who is in the same boat that I can relate to.
Avatar m tn When I first started medication Paxil Cr was perfect for me! I no longer had any anxiety! i took it for about a year and then got off it because one side effect was increased appetite and I gained like 20+ pounds. So I then went to Effexor, Lexapro, Remron, and I am now on Pristiq. SO far the prestiq has helped my depression. I got severely depressed a few months back because I was not doing anything. I would just lay in my room all day because of the fear of my panic attacks.
Avatar f tn Have u googled the meds? I knw citalopram is for anxiety and depression. Risperidone is for mood disorder. My daughter takes them. Not sure bout the others. Google may help. Sorry couldnt be of more help. Good luck.
1001742 tn?1252685847 It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It works by increasing levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain. Increased serotonin levels can lead to an improved mood. I was prescibed this for my anxiety by my family doctor although I'm not sure if I should take this if I will **** dirty at the meth clinic.
Avatar m tn Hey There! Congrats on your 52 days! I'm around 43 days now off the Sub. I've been taking Citalopram (Celexa) for a couple months now for PTSD and it's great stuff. My Dr. switched me from Zoloft because it wasn't cutting it. I can relate to the anxiety coming off Sub. I thought that I was going to have a mental break more than once.......
Avatar f tn i have been on citalopram for two years and put on 50lb, which really depresses me since my eating and exercise regime has never changed. looking on the net i discovered wellburtrin, so i will ask my gp if i can swap over to this. i just want to know would i stop taking citalopram and start taking wellburtrin, or would i cut the dosage of citalopram down and take the new wellbutrin with it.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I'm a sixteen year old girl with really bad anxiety and OCD. When I was a little kid, I had a phobia of choking for four years, which got so bad that I stopped eating solid food entirely, and had panic attacks if I was around "choking hazards" (small toys, beads, etc). It was mainly about breathing, not choking itself, since I was also very scared of drowning, suffocating, having a heart attack, etc.
105323 tn?1250103506 I have suffered with panic disorder since 1994 and have taken citalopram since 1995. I function quite well with the occassional relapse usually related to lowering my medication dose and quickly resolved when I up it again (although I always have some anxiety symptoms and the occassional panic attack).
Avatar f tn i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds
Avatar f tn As for the DLPA, that is used for depression, not anxiety. It can be very stimulating and cause anxiety -- many antidepressants are intentionally stimulating, such as the Effexor you were on, because depression is a downer disorder so to speak whereas anxiety is an upper disorder. If anxiety is your main problem, you don't want to take DLPA, as it's like adrenaline, and in anxiety sufferers, adrenaline is part of our problem. If your anxiety is caused by depression, it might help.
1131131 tn?1275108488 When taken with Prilosec, the clearance of citalopram may be reduced, leading to higher blood levels of citalopram. Prilosec inhibits the CYP450 2C19 enzyme, one of the two primary enzymes responsible for the metabolism of citalopram. Dosage adjustments may be needed due to this effect.

Avatar f tn Hello everyone I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
Avatar m tn Hi people. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with anxiety disorder so was prescribed 10mg of citalopram, took it every morning and it did seem to make a difference but maybe was just a placebo affect. Was on it for 3 weeks the doctors upped it too 20mg. Bern on 20mg for 3 days and dont feel well at all. Got headaches, feel sick, tired. Was wondering could 10mg have been enough to help with anxiety? Also how long will these side effects last?
Avatar n tn I actually happen to have a lot of allergic reactions to meds, so perhaps my body is ultra sensative anyway. You have to decide which is worse for you-the anxiety or the possible side effects. The only thing I do encourage is that before you take any drug from any doctor, please research them fully, dont just take the docs opinion on them. I hope you get the help you need.
384099 tn?1226443429 Ive had panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder for a few years now. I am only 19 now, but i went without any meds up untill earlier this year when i was having 2-4 panic attacks a day and was very emotionally unstable. I was very depressed. So i finally went to the doctor about meds. I was on citalopram 10mg for a month, they didnt do anything for me.. no side effects, nor helped with anything. so the next month they bumped me up to 20mg. i still didnt have really any side effects..
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with all day anxiety for almost three month now. I am on xanax and citalopram (which I just started) and therapy (which I just started). Three days ago I started feeling worse, medically. I wake up early each morning in a panic with some lose bowel issues and dry heaves or vomiting. The last three days it has been worse!! Yesterday was awful and I was so dizzy, especially during the vomiting. I will feel like I am going to pass out.

Avatar f tn I have been on citalopram for six days and xanax for a month for bad anxiety attacks and all day long anxiety. The mornings are so much worse. Yesterday I had a fairly good day. I felt there was some hope of getting back to myself. In the middle of the night I woke with anxiety attacks and haven't shaken them yet. I am cold, shakey, vomiting, hot through my chest and arms, I can't eat, I keep feeling like I need to pee, I am jittery...the list goes on.
