Avatar m tn Our 8 year old has been in Tenex for 6 months for ADHD and has been doing great!!!
Avatar n tn She is also taking Simvastatin and an anti-depressant, Citalopram, and an amphetamine for ADHD. Is hair loss a normal side effect of these meds, and, if so, what can be done to combat the problem?
Avatar n tn My five year old son is diagnosed with adhd and generalized anxiety disorder. we have tried several meds. currently he is on 50 mg of vyvanse, 40 mg of citalopram and 2mg of abilify a day. his behavior is beyond horrible. should i just take him off meds?
Avatar n tn I get antsy in class, I always daze off and text message. I can't sit still I doodle in my notes, and can't really keep straight eye contact with the teachers or listen to them (I rely on the book alot). I am 26 years old now and have never considered myself ADD or ADHD, but I think it's a late onset or I have been ignorant about it perhaps. I want to try adderall and don't know how to go about it with my doctor.
Avatar n tn I have in the passed had severe anxiety attacks in the past as a result of not being able to answer these questions in my head and i have been taking Citalopram for about 3 months now with some good results, but my obsessive thinking is never very far away. I would just like to know why my brain is thinking like this. Because I know there has to be a reason.
Avatar f tn The reason that I have a fear of more memory damage or brain damage from certain meds is that while searching for medications to help with memory I have come across information that certain medications like aderall and others can actually cause memory damage with long term use, plus I already have memory problems due to SCT, long term uncontrolled type 1 diabetes, but is now controlled with insulin, major depression which is being treated with citalopram, hypothyroidism which is being treated w
3144915 tn?1343061774 I have been diagnosed with ADHD by two physicians and been on medication for 3 years..I am a 51 year old woman. I have shown signs all my life however, I chose not to believe there was a such thing until I had to face it. I do OK and the meds but still do not live a full life. I am newly married, my husband knows of my condition and knows I take meds but doesn't understand. We get along great until my symptons interupt our plans or cost us money. I have no insurance..
Avatar f tn I am seeing the nurse practicianer (SP?) today for a med check. They told me not to take the citalopram last night and see how it goes. I work with the worst panic attack this morning. I am feeling a little lost and hopeless as to what to do now.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
Avatar f tn I have days where I think my world is going to crash around me. But it does pass and things go back to as normal as tx will allow. Comes and goes in waves. If you think you can benefit from an AD then see your doctor. In my case no, but many do. It isn't that I'm opposed to them, they just don't work for me. Unfortunately, AD's are not a cure all for everyone, depends on the individual.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Yes, the little one could have ADHD. It certainly is an inherited disorder for many - but not all kids. But, i have had kids in the classroom who have ADHD and their brother or sister did not. So it certainly is not guaranteed. By the way, I have seen the changes in how ADHD is treated over the years. Having spent almost 40 years in the classroom. It is being treated much better now then it was.
Avatar n tn Why was your mother prescribed this medication? It is prescribed for many reasons, high blood pressure, anxiety, cluster headaches, and tremors. It does have a break-in period, and low energy, and sleepiness are part of the break-in period, which can take up to 6 weeks. I have never heard of it being prescribed for depression, but rather anxiety. I think she needs to return to her doctor to re-evaluate this medication.
Avatar f tn I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective and adult adhd. I take abilify and citalopram for the schizoaffective disorder and vyvanse for the adhd symptoms. I find that since i have been given adhd meds, my condition has stabilized completely. I was not well on the schizoaffective meds alone. i still had problems concentrating and with focus .As well as social problems and listening to others and paying attention.
Avatar m tn Both citalopram, (Celexa) and escitalopram, (Lexapro) are SSRI's and both have, as unlabeled uses the control of panic. They both also have CNS side effects of anxiety in the beginning stages of treatment. You say you've been on the citalopram for approximately 5 weeks? It can take up to 35 days for citalopram to reach "steady state" in your blood, which means you won't begin to feel any real relief from your depresson for possibly a bit over a month.
Avatar f tn I think thats why my doctor try the zoloft again because i am thinking i am itching and i am not really having reaction to the medicine but he said you do have sentitvie to medicine that why he had a backup medcine for me. my question is anybody taking Zoloft 25mm or Citalopram 20mm before and any side effects from these medicine? also any tips on controling my anxiety and depression ?
Avatar m tn Impossible to predict. Twitches/tremors are things that are associated with SSRI's they are things I've had in past, but they are no problem now. Citalopram failed me after 3 yrs, went on to Effexor XR & that works for me.
Avatar n tn I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!

Avatar f tn It worked well for me when i remembered to take it. You have to give it at least a week for it to kick in. I don't think i felt the affects of it at all until i ended up increasing it to fast. I went up to 2 pills of 40 mg and i found it worked well for me. But if you are looking for somethign that you want a instance or close to it anti - anxiety, you need to ask your doctor to give you pills that are not SSRI.
1767754 tn?1313873884 It came back positive for bppv, but the doc also said it showed some CNS stuff. I wondered if this was the case for you or for anyone else taking citalopram--if it can cause nerve stuff.
