citalopram dosage ocd

I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 9. I have been on Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro and now Citalopram for 16 years. At this point the citalopram doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have increased my dosage to 80mg a day and have added xanax about .5 mg 2 to 3 times a day about 1 month ago. I am very depressed and I'm worried about forgetting things. I'm worried about getting alheizmers disease. I need to go to see a neurologist and have some tests done.

m pretty sensitive to the meds, she has been very good about taking things slow. I supposedly have OCD and dysthymia, and I know that the usual dosage for folks w/ OCD is 40 mg. of citalopram - however, I'm not adverse to going slow and getting used to it so that's not my issue. I haven't been to a psychiatrist before, or taken meds for these issues,although I do have a therapist. I have been with my therapist for years, and feel comfortable about saying whatever I want to.

Ok , because i was put on seroquel 50 mg and 10 citalopram and where on them for 6 weeks and they did nothing at all, so he upped the seroquel to 100mg and citalopram to 20mg and its been 2 weeks and still nothing , :S

m a 20 Year old mom , to a 5 year old boy, 3 Months ago I started having bad anxiety attacks, and then for the last 2 months I feel weird all day I dont feel like My self anymore anything I do seems weird when I bring my son to school Outside seems weird Even just being In my house seems weird, Ive Been put on 50 mg of seroquel at night and 20 mg of Citalopram and Its been 4 weeks and a half and I still have not noticed a differents , dose anyone have any suggestions to help I cant keep feeling

my psychiatrist gave me citalopram, after taking citalopram i started felling better, and after couple months i was 99.9% cured. depression had gone, i had high self esteem again feel confident for my self i could do anything.no more panic attacks, i realized that nothing is wrong with my heart and no more agoraphobia.i start doing things again in my life, i was not sitting all day in my room and thinking about it.all those bad thoughts had been disappeared.

I have been on 50mg of generic Zofolt a day for awhile now for OCD, and anxiety issues. It was working pretty good for me then all the sudden just seemed to stop. My Dr. upped the dosage to 100mg a day and it has helped some but I am still suffering from the itching. I get bad cases of itching on the back of my neck and on my forearms. I don't breakout or have any kind of rash. I will just start to itch and will scratch until it bleeds sometimes.

hi, I've been on citalopram for 5 weeks now for my anxiety. I upped the dosage from 20mg to 40mg a week ago but have just been feeling mind numb since. is it possible for the meds to take longer to start working?

When I say issues I mean I just still have certain things that cause anxiety, or I still have some ocd things like someone tapping makes me explode, I can't read a magazine without re reading the last few words on each page about five times by turning the page, turning it back and reading the last words and do that five times or so. I still have to check and re check locks and stuff. And I have recently read that the dosage should be higher for ocd.

But im on citalopram for hiv based ocd. So forgive me. The Cdc says that it could be up to an 8 percent chance for hiv transmission during oral sex. Where as Dr hook says this is zero. Why do two completely reliable sources have conflicting information? Which is it?

Well, you are 11 years older, so some changes to your heart in relationship to the Citalopram may have occurred. In addition, other medications, OTC and Prescriptions, supplements, etc. should be considered. Here's an article that gives a balanced view of your concern, though not predicating it on long term use of Citalopram. If you note in the article, concerns of the elderly are expressed concerning QTc prolongation in relation to dose and age.

I have been on Levothyroxine for the past 5 years or so, and recently my new doctor increased my dosage from 88mcg to 100mcg, due to my blood work results. I also take Citalopram 30mg for anxiety, and Xanax as needed (rarely). I have been taking the new dosage (100mcg) for about 3- 4 weeks now. I am experiencing a huge flux in anxiety (it was always pretty stable before since I have been on the Citalopram; I haven't had to take Xaxax in over 6 months).

I've been prescribed to citalopram and am still reducing my dosage of clonazepam(due to seizures). Is it safe to take the two together or should I wait until I'm completely off the clonazepam? I have no allergies that I'm aware of. My doctor was super busy and I forgot to ask if I should stop the clonazepam. Any help is appreciated.

My best friend has been taking citalopram for anxiety. She returned from the doctors today with a prescription for concurrent risperdal for OCD. I know her very well. We used to work together and now that we've left work we spend all day together. How long have you been on citalopram(aka Celexa) which takes up to 8 weeks to get a full result and what is your dosage? I would do therapy and skip the Celexa if possible because your issue is straightforward (although that doesn't mean you will be able to get rid of your obsessive paranoia, at least it is something a therapist can get right into immediately instead of trying to figure what causes your anxiety) , however this is between you and your doctor.

t help a lot with the OCD just the associated anxiety! Luvox helps a lot with the OCD, but I hate taking it as I do not feel like "me", so hence am happy just to be able to manage the anxiety which helps me "fight" the OCD using CBT. Again, thank you for your answer.

Hi! I had OCD quite badly when I was a child between the ages of about 7 and 11. I used to do little rituals like touching everything six times and being really scared something bad would happen if I didn't! Well this appeared to all disappear with age.. However a few months ago, my grandad died and for some reason this event seems to have triggered it again. This time I don't have the rituals problem but I've been suffering with obsessive thoughts.

My fiance and I are trying for a baby. I am on 20 mgs of Citalopram and 3 mgs of Risperidone. Is this an okay dosage to be on while you are pregnant? I read it is okay but to watch for neonatal side effects, which are quite scary and seem traumitising for the child. If I get my citalopram perscription reduced will it still have neo natal effects on our baby?

About 6 months ago I was very constipated so I went to the ER and they did xrays on me and told me I was just constipated from anxiety. I saw my regular doctor and got put on citalopram 10mg. It did nothing for me so I went back recently to up the dosage and also to see why I was getting constipated again. My doctor told me to take 20mg and to add fiber into my diet. I think I went a little overboard will the fiber which made me very gassy and hurt my stomach.
