Citalopram and xanax together

Common Questions and Answers about Citalopram and xanax together

Hi-as far as I know you are right it is primarily for depression but it is also used when you have anxiety and depression together (this was my issue). I am also taking it but also have Lorazepam for prn. I would say I have been highly anxious for over a year. I've been taking the Citalopram since May and I still feel I have to take the Lorazepam.
My doctor has me taking 2ml testosterone intermuscular injections once a month and 2 to 3mg a day of xanax and 40mg of citalopram. I would have your testosterone checked, mine was at 167 when it should be greater than 300. I just started the hormone replacement therapy and it is helping. the panic attacks are shorter and spread apart more. i got overzealous and thought that i could go down to 1.5mg a day of xanax. Now I'm sitting in my office thinking I'm having a heart attack.
of Paxil 10mg and xanax .5mg but i try to only take the xanax at night so I can hopefully fall asleep and STAY asleep past 3hrs. The paxil seems to be starting to work because i feel kind of "numb" but it beats feeling devastatingly sad and crying all the time I hope someone here will be able to help us.
your question belongs to an Expert but anyway I'm pretty sure that you must avoid ingesting xanax and Lorazepam together because they are both strong anxiolitics and belong to the same category of psychotropic drugs. you should be taking either one or the other. a secondary risk is to poison the liver with excessive assumption of drugs. You should never self diagnose or decide the doses without consulting a Doctor. better if more than one doctor.
The first was a clinical trial and he had no antidepressant and it was a horrible experience. The second time he used daily iIfergen shots and took celexa and it was bearable for him and our family. This time we started celexa a month ahead and for about 5 days I gave him a half a pill and then went up to a whole. Titering up like this made it very easy and he didn't have any nausea or wierd feelings at all.
Gabapentin for RLS ( it doesnt really help but I cant tolerate Mirapex and Requip) generic darvocet for pain related to all my issues, xanax for the anixiety I seemed to have developed and Ambien CR to help with sleep which sometimes helps but not always
I too have had all the various workups for my health and am otherwise fine. I took xanax, and the first pill worked fine then after that they didn't work anymore Now i've started prozac and I feel even worse, everytime I stand up I get the feeling im going to black out. Hopefully this will go away soon. I feel like my life is over, like I will never have it back and I am just destined to lie in a bed all the time worried about everything and be dizzy.
He put me on (not all at once) Ambien for insomnia (could not sleep), xanax (for anxiety and temper), and finally Lexapro (Anti-Depressant) when I did not improve enough with anger issues. I might add that I resisted having to take all of these, but in the end they did the trick. I no longer have the urge to fight cops or anyone, I sleep through the night (most nights). It was all a lifesaver for me.
Don't wanna go to the MD either becasue knowing doctor's they don't give a crap and don't know and just say everything is fine here take some xanax to control your panic attacks.
So far I've been on citalopram, and another medication they worked for awhile but eventually the anxiety just came back so of course the logical solution for the doctors was to up the medication which just made it worse. I've had the chest X-Rays,Blood panels, etc. I've had to call 911 twice in the last week alone due to the fact of first having an anxiety attack whcih at this point I hadn't had one in months so it was fairly concerning to me.
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety while irritating, maybe even is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
For the past 5-6 weeks, I've been having numbness/tingling in my arms, hands and legs and feet. I've also had tingling in the face area.........mouth and tongue. My eyes sometimes feel itchy as sometimes my skin. I've had headaches and felt light-headed. Sometimes my face gets flushed and so do my arms, like I'm burning under my skin. My finger joints feel sore. I can't hold a book or magazine and turn the pages, my hands and fingers feel sore.
I take citalopram (2mg everyday) and I have not been able to afford my prescription this last week - and all this has started. I will get my prescription this weekend and hope that this sensation stops. It is scary and disconcerting, my heart can beat fast and loud, my eyes unfocus, I see things that aren't there, my eyes feel strange and of curse my brain. As if someone is switching me off for a second. Part of me thinks that one time it will switch off for good but I just want it to stop!
Please respond to this post by naming those meds and drugs. Medhelp will then put together the information about them -which will appear under the Health Pages section in its own database, just for this community. Thanks, everyone, for your usual good attention.
The only side effects were dry mouth and weight loss(not a negative). About 5 months ago my doctor put me on citalopram which made me feel like a zombie and I started gaining weight so we decided to switch to the wellbutrin. I have been on the wellbutrin for about 7 weeks now and off the citalopram for a little over 1 week. Im having a completely different experience than I did before.
i have been taking benzodiazipines for 13 years. These include xanax, and lexotanil. I was detoxed from xanax over a period of a month with heavy detox medications but it was still hell. This was almost two years ago. But after withdrawal, I was given lexotanil. I began to use more and more as my tolerance built up until it was 6-9 mgs a dayending on my anxiety levels. Then I had a panic attack in the park and took about 4-5. Since then, my meds were taken away from me.
Again, these are things that are SO unlike me it is ridiculous, but I have heard worse stories from people blacking out on xanax, and it scares me to my very soul. I could be worried about nothing, but at the end of the day I'll probably never find out what happened during that blackout, and I need help trying to cope with the guilt and learning how I can come to accept the fact that there will always be this unknown. My doc just prescribed me Citalopram, good idea?
I have gone through a deep depression, using Citalopram and the above mentioned things. If I feel a turn towards depressive thoughts, I have often changed this by going to the beach and gone through a set of Qi Gong - it is strong, believe me. The food is vital, more than most doctors think. So, please do not only rely on medicine. You are welcome to write back to me.
I still have no appetite and have lost 15 pounds but it is all worth it. We are all in this together. Don't stray from the path and I've been taking the ensure protein shakes for 2 days and they do help.
in other words, don't think you can go on a 3 month heroin binge and walk away like nothing happened - BUT - I have been through this many, many, many times before - and I can help you reduce the pain and suffering to *ALMOST* nothing .. Now, how bad will it be? Well, that depends on a few things: *) how MUCH were you taking? Someone who mainlines a gram of heroin every 16 hours is going to have it a LOT worse then someone who pops a few Lortab every day..

It's your life and if you're paying someone to help you put the pieces back together, dangit they had better bring glue and instructions. and maybe you just suffer from chronis sinus infections. I suffer from frequent constipation and there's no underlying cause. I'm just not regular! (: I hope that even if what you're experiencing is not anxiety, you find out what it is. You deserve to be happy and worry/pain-free!
Attacks could last minutes or hours and any combination of symptoms would happen. and in between attacks, my heart would regularly do many strange things - tachy, brady, irregular rhythm, extremely forceful beats, 'flip-flopping' feelings, etc. I also sometimes experienced a sensation of the heart stopping and restarting - immediately after the restart I would feel a MASSIVE, uncomfortable surge of adrenaline and the heart would beat very fast for a little while.
I have never actually passed out, but I get short with patients because I want to hurry up and get to a place where I could be alone and just breathe and close my eyes and relax. When I take a half of a .25 mg of xanax, I feel soo much better. But I don't want to keep using this medication on a regular basis as a cover up. I want to get to the bottom of what ever problem have.
Citalopram. Of course you gotta check with your doctor but that's the stuff I tried. Good luck!!
Also heres another questions I have been clean now 9 days and today I started feeling achy and my teeth ache and a small fever are these still w/d or do you think I have a cold? otherwise today I feel good. doctor gave me 5 days off work to help get myself together and I still have my appt with the phycatrist in november so I feel like I am moving in the right direction. Not even sure if I can take xanax and Inderella together. Why? Because the chemist and the doctor had two different opinions on the matter. The doctor said yes. The chemist said he thought it would be too much for the system. As if the nerves aren't bad enough. if I was weaning down on the xanax I would like to begin .75. Just short of a full whole 1mg tablet for a week or two. Then down to .5 tablets for a while. Which I doubt would have little or no effect in the system at all.
I took my xanax not so much as a sleep aid but because I was so agitated that I thought if I calmed down, I could maybe sleep better. I know that Ambien and xanax shouldnt be used together I appreciate all the advice. and I will ck with my GI about the herbals from now on.
Ive had PVC's/PACs for 18 years, had all the tests...been told what most of you have been told..they are stress related, try to ignore them etc. I thought I had been thru all there is to go thru with these darn things. But last night, was new for me! I had been totally palpitation free on Saturday. Great day!!! But..on our way home from up north yesterday, suddenly out of absolutly nowhere ( like it usually happens) I could feel a few palps "popping" in there.
