1717039 tn?1308891770 I have PCOS which I am taking Metformin and an antidepressant (Citalopram) for. I am also taking vitamin D for a deficiency. Do any of these medications decrease the effectiveness of my birth control pill (Zarah)?
335728 tn?1331414412 While I am not on any DMD, I am on Tegretol, Elavil, Citalopram for my MS symptoms. I am on Spireva, Symbicort, Singulair and Ventolin for my COPD and Asthma and Prevacid and Lipitor for GERD and high cholesterol. I also take Amitriptyline for fatigue related to MS. Has anyone else had trouble with protein or calcium deficiency that has been proven related to any meds?
Avatar m tn Hi , my partner has receantly had an incident were she collapsed at the side of the road , was attended to by paramedics , was tacicardic , breathing problems and involuntary muscle twitching , unconscious and no reaction to pain test , she was put into a anesthectic state , intubation, fluids and oxygen given and air lifted to hospital , we think this may have been contributed to by her medications as she was prescribed 40mg citalopram , 400mg tramadol , zopiclone and D3 supplement , it was als

1397822 tn?1294279534 potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6 and Vitamin D. Generally deficiencies of any of the above can cause muscle twitching and spasms in localized or generalized areas of the body. Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms.
Avatar f tn General health and also wanting to take as little dose of antidepressant as poss, if I can balance it out with other things. Saffron meant to help libido side effect and rhodiola help the sedation side effect and depression also. Vitamin d I've been deficient before and heard people with depression often are deficient in it. Been told recently can be bad for u if don't take with k2 but k2 meant to interfere with antidepressant absorption.
Avatar f tn I've had bad ibs-d which only just died down in the past year or so with the odd once a fortnight flare up (instead of all day every day). Because it got better I stopped taking Citalopram in December as I felt fine anxiety and ibs wise. But this week I've had a sore stomach with d every day so far. It could be down to stress as I'm planning my wedding for September. But I'm no more stressed this week than any of the past few weeks.
Avatar f tn I wasnt sure if i wanted to take a anti-dep again as the last few ive tried have slight and reversed affects so wasnt to sure and also i thought it would only mask the problem. but after huge waves of depression due to the lack of energy, fatiuge ect i was totaly exhasted so i started to take this new citalopram the doctor prescribed. Avatar m tn --Having said this, you really need to know that you have enough cholesterol and fats in your system to allow for metabolizing fat soluble nutrients and vitamins like vitamin A,D,E,K , the synthesis of hormones and healthy neurological function. --You also need to ensure your Nitric Oxide levels are normal. Nitric oxide is lethal to bacteria and viruses and is also known to increase oxygen absorption in your lungs from 10-25 percent among many other things.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years, I have been, and continue to be, treated for Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Senile Osteoporosis (daily injection of Forteo), high blood pressure and low/none vitamin D, and periods of low white cells. Was checked for the usual, RA, Lupus etc. Nothing showed up. Previous health-worked fulltime around 50 hours a week or more, constantly going and doing, did many family dinners, active runner, won divisional 5k first place and masters and weight trained. BMI is around 20.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the the relationship between Vitamin D and MS and if you take supplements, will it help prevent relapses? I was just reading something about this from a report from the UK--and their research suggests that it does seem to help. I also wonder if you can give vitamin supplements to children/teens and if that will help to prevent the disease later in life.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I've been tested and have come up with a deficiancy of Vitamin D was told that Vitamin D is like the mortar between the bricks of your colon wall, if you have a deficiancy then the toxins can easily slip through the gaps out your colon and into your blood stream. First stop your liver, then onto your heart and mind. Once your liver starts to drop then it's harder for you to metabolise other vitamins also only making things worse.
Avatar n tn I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.
Avatar f tn In the report issued today, the committee reviewed studies on the metabolism and physiology of calcium and vitamin D and their influence on health. Dietary reference intakes were determined using the estimated average requirement (EAR; the level at which 50% of the population's needs are met), recommended dietary allowance (level at which 95% of the population's needs are met), tolerable upper intake level, and adequate intake level.
Avatar f tn Have your Vitamin D checked. I also heard that tanning beds do not give you the Vitamin D so not sure about a sunlamp. Coral Calcium has Vitamin D3 so it's a good source as well as most fish, especially salmon. Vitamin D deficiencies can cause serious problems. Mine was just tested at 40 and it was 11.8, well below normal and it took months of arthritis pains, gout, paresthesias, four doctors, etc. for one doctor to say, "Haven't they ever tested your Vitamin D?
Avatar f tn What positive results did you see? Arthritis is the last thing I need! I take calcium, vitamin D, fish oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin C, and magnesium, I also have osteoporosis and I am 44! I am hoping to see an improvement in my bone scan this summer. Being hyper with Grave's surely didn't help.
Avatar m tn I don't know but it's good to test your levels and I'm glad I've found this forum and its useful information. Here's a link between chronic hepatitis B and low vitamin D levels: http://www.hbvadvocate.org/news/HBJ8.12.
666921 tn?1254990618 ( Now my DD and I are on vitamin supplements with D and doing better. I live in a sunny climate as well and yes people get D deficiency here.
