Unfortunately, genital numbness is a fairly common side effect of SSRIs, which is what citalopram is. Some SSRIs cause more sexual side effects than others, and everyone will react differently, but definitely talk to your doctor. I think thats why my doctor try the zoloft again because i am thinking i am itching and i am not really having reaction to the medicine but he said you do have sentitvie to medicine that why he had a backup medcine for me. my question is anybody taking Zoloft 25mm or Citalopram 20mm before and any side effects from these medicine? also any tips on controling my anxiety and depression ?

When it hurts I try to tolerate it so I can please him. But he is a horn dog and pushy. Then it came to a point, I started reducing sexual activity. When you say sexual dysfunction ,do you refer to an erectile and ejaculation problem?
Do you experience any pain or deformity during erection or ejaculation?

Do you still get night time erections ?
Have you any previous infections or prior surgeries or instrumentation of the genitalia?
Any recent pain or problems with urination?
I plan at this point to wait and see if his sexual function does return and when it does, to point out (ever so subtely) that maybe the problem was related to Effexor rather than his age and it might help him focus on the benefits of being off Effexor while experiencing withdrawal.
Again, thanks for letting me know Effexor related sexual dysfunction is not permanent. I will let you all know how it goes.

See your regular doctor for a complete and thorough check up. Make sure your blood pressure is less than 120/80, check your HgbA1C to make sure your blood sugar is stable and under control.

You should undergo an evaluation to determine if you display ADHD. Your symptoms are consistent with this, but you shouldn't make an assumption about it. It also sounds like you have some executive dysfunction. If indeed you do display ADHD, stimulant medication might be quite effective and it needn't exacerbate anxiety, though it can. You'd have to be vigilant in monitoring your response.
I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
