Avatar f tn I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn There is certainly a wide variety of ways folks deal with others' rage, and we've certainly seen a number of different options presented here. We all have our own way of dealing with confrontation and conflict, and oftentimes, borrowing a page from another's book helps, but sometimes, it doesn't.
Avatar n tn Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.
Avatar m tn In appropriate neurochemical, functional, and behavioural non-clinical experiments, escitalopram shows greater efficacy and faster onset of action than comparable doses of citalopram. The lower efficacy of citalopram in these studies is apparently due to the inhibition of the effect of the S-enantiomer by the R-enantiomer, possibly via an allosteric interaction with the serotonin transporter.

Avatar f tn Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?
Avatar n tn I experienced the same thing. I gained about 30 lbs on citalopram within 18 months.I work out and eat healthy. I knew something was wrong. Well I saw a new doctor and he is weaning me off citalopram (1/2 a pill a day). He thinks it made me gain weight. I kmow take wellbutrin (twice a day). I hope this helps me lose the weight. How are you???
Avatar m tn I doubt that the Citalopram is even working for you after 3 years. Muscle twitches are not a side effect of this medication, so you should consult with your doctor regarding this new symptom. You also want to wean off the Citalopram via your doctor's instructions. I'm happy to hear that therapy is helping you and wish you continued success with it.
Avatar n tn I take atenolol 100mg daily , and also citalopram ( an SSRI) 10mg daily, no problems whatsoever. Hope you feel better soon. I'm bias with citalopram because of all SSRI it is usually less likely to interact with other drugs and also has the least side effects profile, I feel like a new person since being on it.
574118 tn?1305135284 Yesterday as I had a rage which I was able to stop by an additional seroquel of 25mg. Suppose this rage is mania and I had 2 previous months of stability before then this mania erupted yesterday but I will not having it the coming days. My question is would this mania be considered a full episode or because it's one mania that was aborted then it isn't one. Because really I don't understand the meaning of an episode (not the english meaning) but how it lasts etc... i.e.
1488562 tn?1288826355 If you give in to these suicidal thoughts and rage, you commit another sin. If you calm down, take care of yourself, and go through treatment, you will do something really good. Not just good for yourself, but for others. You don't know how many people's lives you may touch in the future. Don't waste your chance to become better, get better, and help others. Any thoughts in this direction? Ever? Wishing you the best!
Avatar f tn No, that's not normal... "Normal" or "good" thyroid levels are not the same as optimal, so if you're still having these feelings, you might possibly need adjustment in your meds. If you'll post your actual thyroid hormone levels, with reference ranges we can take a look and see if you might need some adjustment. Be sure to post your med(s) and dosage(s), as well.
Avatar f tn I wouldn't even mind if my.boobs would have grown alot but they barely even grown a cupsize and there coverd in stretchmarks but don't have them anywhere else..
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with anxiety issues and they put me on xanax for the panic attacks that I can't control and also Citalopram for the daily use to keep me mello. They say I won't feel the full effect for a couple of weeks but I can feel like it's doing something because I don't have any attacks until about an half hour before I need to take my pill. So anyway I hope this helps, good luck.
Avatar f tn m NOT judging. I understand. Rage is powerful and can overtake us. But you would be best served to investigate anger management strategies. Even formally with a counselor or group program. This will help you learn how to cope at times when you want to react to your rage in an abusive manner. One thing can start doing right now is look for the warning signs that the rage is about to happen.
Avatar f tn Hey I'm 20 and have been on citalopram for a year and a half, I have decided to come off it because of the fatigue it caused which is not good for student life generally, also the loss of interest in sex is not great either. I think I do need to be on antidepressants at the moment. But citalopram wasn't for me. I realise all antidepressants have side effects but I was wondering if any missed out the 2 I mentioned above.
