Avatar f tn I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar n tn Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn My internist told me its muscular neuropathy caused by diabetes. Put me on citalopram and painkillers. My 2HR glucose was 117 and after 2hrs 170 .generally my sugar level is higher above 150 at random. I still have under arm pain and thighs pain though it has lessened now. But when it returns ,I feel bouts of anxiety and stress. I'm not on diabetes treatment. I believe I had diabetes since long. I have lipomas, when they form I'm in extreme pain.
Avatar m tn Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.
Avatar m tn In appropriate neurochemical, functional, and behavioural non-clinical experiments, escitalopram shows greater efficacy and faster onset of action than comparable doses of citalopram. The lower efficacy of citalopram in these studies is apparently due to the inhibition of the effect of the S-enantiomer by the R-enantiomer, possibly via an allosteric interaction with the serotonin transporter.

Avatar f tn Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?
Avatar n tn I experienced the same thing. I gained about 30 lbs on citalopram within 18 months.I work out and eat healthy. I knew something was wrong. Well I saw a new doctor and he is weaning me off citalopram (1/2 a pill a day). He thinks it made me gain weight. I kmow take wellbutrin (twice a day). I hope this helps me lose the weight. How are you???
Avatar m tn I doubt that the Citalopram is even working for you after 3 years. Muscle twitches are not a side effect of this medication, so you should consult with your doctor regarding this new symptom. You also want to wean off the Citalopram via your doctor's instructions. I'm happy to hear that therapy is helping you and wish you continued success with it.
Avatar n tn I take atenolol 100mg daily , and also citalopram ( an SSRI) 10mg daily, no problems whatsoever. Hope you feel better soon. I'm bias with citalopram because of all SSRI it is usually less likely to interact with other drugs and also has the least side effects profile, I feel like a new person since being on it.
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with anxiety issues and they put me on xanax for the panic attacks that I can't control and also Citalopram for the daily use to keep me mello. They say I won't feel the full effect for a couple of weeks but I can feel like it's doing something because I don't have any attacks until about an half hour before I need to take my pill. So anyway I hope this helps, good luck.

Avatar n tn DONT DO IT!! This is just my experience with it. With my first I got induced and I wanted the epidural but got the demerol instead it made me so out of it I didn't know what was going on I started panicking and couldn't breath it was an awful experience and my son was also so out of it for days after I decided no drugs was best this time and it was amazing and worth it.
Avatar f tn Methadone is the most difficult, longest detox of all opiates. It stores in your fat and bones and can take years to fully recover. It took me 6 months to feel good again. What have you been taking for how long, that will give us a better idea of where you're at? Are you still taking them? In the Health Pages at the bottom of this forum has a lot of good suggestions for supplements and general info. The Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid Protocol are the most popular home rememdies.
Avatar f tn But also was worried about my liver, they said cause ive never overdosed and dont take that many my liver would be ok. And not to worry? I have been doing this 5-6years, and am worried about my liver. I have a yeloowish glow to my skin just above my eye, not in the whites, but just under my eyebrow. I want to get better. I freak out so much if it looks more yellow. If i stop now, would my liver be ok? Just wish somone would listen to me and try and help me.
Avatar n tn I really need someones help. I'm 24 weeks pregnant, and on and off thru out my pregnancy I have mostly done hydrocodon, but I have done some oxycontin too. I'm not prescribe to them, I just have an addition to them. I'll stop doing them for a couple of weeks and then my boyfriend, who is also addicted to them or myself will get some and we will start doing them again.
Avatar f tn After i finneshed the corse i went back to my gp for a check up, when he put me on solpadol (codeine and paracetamol). Now i find my self having really bad withdrawl symptoms like insomnia and joint pain when i dont take codeine, im still taking between 90mg and 180mg a day. What should i do?
Avatar n tn I agree with you 3doors hydrate, eat right and exercise. I always though everyone was crazy when they said exercise. But I relunctatly tried it and what do you know it really helped with the restless legs. That was always the worst for me, that and sweating like crazy. I never could go cold turkey either. I did finally tell my husband and he is such a great support for me.Hes amazing. This is it for me. No more going back now. Some time in the beginning of the week I'm off my taper.
Avatar f tn Having a healthy and well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, cutting out junk, sugary and processed foods may help. Ensure that you drink plenty of fluids, especially water. 2 litres (4 pints) a day is usually recommended, more if you sweat a lot. Applying a heat pad or a hot water bottle (wrapped in a towel) can also help with cramping - and having a hot bath. You may find Evening Primrose helpful.
Avatar f tn if so, there is a surgery to remove the scar tissue and this helps with the pain.....better then taking meds and possibly developing something else.... And it is possible if you have been taking meds all along they may be the reason for your GERD.... Talk yo your Dr about the pain and see what it might be. Keep us posted.
