Citalopram and heartburn

Common Questions and Answers about Citalopram and heartburn

In the last month it got worse and I went to my doctor. I can't eat. I have lost twenty pounds. I force myself to eat some applesauce or a banana. Sometimes I can get down some bread. I drink gatorade. That is pretty much it. If it seems I am feeling good, I try to eat a better meal, but then get diarrhea the next day (sorry if TMI). I am nauseous each morning and dry heave. On the mornings I do vomit, it is mostly spit and what little drink I have had in the morning, not even bile.
if you work your cardio more you will have a reason for your heart to be pounding fast, and you wont be scared. the heartburn...eat less acidy foods, eat right and you will feel better more of the time, i know that this may not eliminate all but it will make a difference.
I would suggest you to do some deep breathing exercises every day, be as physically active as you can and take help from a counselor or close friends and family to overcome anxiety and depression as you are still very young and capable of much more. Good luck and keep us posted.
As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
This seriously *****. I notice I get really bad heartburn right around this time, too, and I'm not sure what comes first. So, I'm going to eat super small portions of clean foods (fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc.) which for the most part I do, but I ate a huge burrito with salsa yesterday, so I'm wondering if a combination of everything triggered it..? Idk, I just feel so miserable and the thought of having to deal with this monthly for the rest of my life makes me want to cry.
ive been taking asacol 800mg for collitus im also on omeprazole 20mg,calcium,magnesium with vitamin D3 and due to severe panic attacks been on citalopram 20 mg for just under one week im constantly light headed and my panic attacks are not much better ...am I taking to many mg of medication? I take citalopram (2mg everyday) and I have not been able to afford my prescription this last week - and all this has started. I will get my prescription this weekend and hope that this sensation stops. It is scary and disconcerting, my heart can beat fast and loud, my eyes unfocus, I see things that aren't there, my eyes feel strange and of curse my brain. As if someone is switching me off for a second. Part of me thinks that one time it will switch off for good but I just want it to stop!
Your stomach upset may be due to celexa. Abdominal pain (stomach pain), Indigestion or heartburn, and Diarrhea are possible side effects of citalopram (celexa). If you're unsure about the drug interactions, you can call your physician or pharmacist.
E last night, they did several ECGs and did blood tests and there was no indication of heart attack. Doctor blamed the citalopram causing heartburn and said to try ranatadine (Which i take anyway) I worry this was an angina attack, but could it be a hot flush? I wouldnt know as havent really suffered from any ailments until recently. What could this be. I have had more episodes today, Im not hungry and have eaten almost nothing in 2 days, no appetite and very tired.
Hi, I've suffered with depression since having my son 17 years ago, I've been put on many different meds, prozac, sertraline, dothiepin, amitriptyline, mirtazapine, citalopram, I'm now on Viepax XL 75mg (since yesterday) and was wondering how well they work for people? as I don't want to be changeing meds every 5 mins.
Reading everyone's concerns on this message board (along with my concerns) I thought it might be a good experiment(and a helpful reference guide for everyone) to list ALL the symptoms they have had and ALL the tests that have come back normal and ALL the specialists they have seen that have concluded that it was all anxiety. If you can put it in a LIST FORM with no back story so it is easy to reference that would be great.
- The lack of bile could cause food to stay in the stomach for too long, causing heartburn and indigestion. - The heartburn, if it happens too often, can cause esophageal spasms and tightening, Now, the panic is where I start to wonder about a more global root cause, something with a link to the autonomic functions of your body.
I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
Husband has spells where he gets a build up of sinus drainage, then starts coughing very deeply, he turns bright red and passes out and shakes like he is having ceasures. He has spent 6 days in a VA Hospital, with them running a battery of tests and they never actually diagnosed the problem. He has a nebulizer the sent home with him and albeutrol solution for the neb. (uses 4 times a day with the albeuterol) , also has proventil rescue inhaler, and a ton of different medications.

Numbness across all the chest on both sides Neck stiffness and pain Dizziness Light headedness Chest pain with tingling down left arm Feeling of panic I have been put on Propranolol (beta blocker) and Citalopram (SSRI) daily, and this has made some of the symptoms better, however most of them listed above still occur. Mainly at night when I get random chest pain and palpitations, followed by the feeling of flutter or trapped gas which only seems to happen mainly at night when I'm laid down.
My family doc only sees you for 5 mins and then gives a diagnoses so I was wondering if I should just skip her and see a Gastronintestinal dr instead? I was thinking of just asking my family doc for another round of blood work since it has been 3 months. ANY advice?
I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!
a stress test i had it done that came back good, went to the doctors and she said it might be bad heartburn(i never had it befor) so she told me to take prilosec i did and it helped, she also said it could be stress and anxiety because i have been constantly thinking that im gonna die and theres something wrong with my heart!
Hi everyone! Welcome to Part 14! Please come in and make yourself at home. We're all glad you made it here.
I gotta call my doc in a bit anyway because I gotta see why he hasn't sent pperwork to my disability insurance yet anyway. I have really bad heartburn and a number of other things I just chalked up to getting older or something. I am curious to see how much my feelings and health changes once this demon is out of my body. Not to mention the relief of knowing I don't have to wonder if it will develop into cancer or cirrhosis.
prescribed, or over the counter approved by your doc for you. A lot of poster's mention that they have certain sx and wonder what to ask their docs about. prescriptions are always going to be different for everyone depending on what medically is going on with them other than hcv treatment but some of it is the same. maybe someone who is wondering might see something they havnt tried yet and could ask their doc about it.
Since I wasn't smoking (and never will) and wasn't on any medications except for maybe half of one Citalopram HBR 20MG pill for anxiety, what could have caused the blood clots? And if the blood in the photo linked above is from a blood clot/s, what could have caused me to have it? Could it really be Ativan anxiety medicine I was given in the hospital or something in my abdomen, like intestines or stomach?
I've had a 24 hour monitor, ECG, blood test, scan and stress test and the cardiologist has told me I have nothing to worry about and to relax, however I am finding this difficult for the following reasons: Just under a decade ago I had a couple of instances of (some kind of) tachycardia whilst exerting myself and having drank some alcohol (It felt like a flip-flopping in my chest, like a bird fluttering and lasted for a minute or two before slowly dropping).
Don't recommend C/T beta blockers will help with the adrenaline rush - palp's, ibs, panic, agitation. After I also came off citalopram and dolsulipin. I have been off venlafluxine 3 years in Apriland dolsulipin 2 years in April by sleep is still affected. These drugs damage our bodies and we have to re-learn how to deal with life but its worth it not to be a zombie. I have nearly finished a course and I am not constantly in bed.
D I just love you guys! Such honesty and kindness and willingness to help. It's such a blessing! I think this place attracts some of the most intelligent and caring people in the world. So gratifying. I haven't posted for a very long time ... but I will always keep this thread going. I remember so well the desperation I had to hear from anyone ... anyone about how they got off. Now there's years worth of posts from people round the world who kicked Tram.
The only other symptom I have, which for all I know is unrelated, is occasional severe heartburn just below and inside of my right pectoral muscle, under the ribs. I have been thru a bevvy of tests regarding that, so far nothing... My question is should I see my doctor about a prostate exam or G.I. exam even though I am so young?
About a year ago, I was having heartburn symptoms every night. Treated it with Alka Seltzer. This went on for a few months. Then, the heartburn went away, and I began being short of breath. (I didn't put the two together). Went to the ER-all tests came back fine. Shortness of breath continued and I began seeing a multitude of docs to remedy it. First my general practioner diagnosed it as "bronchiospasm" and gave me a rescue inhaler to use as needed.
They ran a bunch of tests on me and found everything to be normal. I've been to the doctors since then and they've taken tubes of blood and tests came back normal as well. I've also been to a cardiologist twice in the last month because I constantly worried about my heart thinking it was WAY too fast at 100-120 beats per minute. That's when at rest to! They did an ultra sound, ekg, holter monitor..etc and found everything was normal.
If you can use alternate forms of birth control I would try stopping and see what happens. My period has been on time since I stopped and they have been fairly short and light. Putting all those hormones in our bodies certainly has consequences and I think increased anxiety may be one of them.
