I had been on citalopram which work great 4my anxiety and deppresion.im nw pregnant.1st i got told to stop cold turkey with the citalopram which i did but i start getting extreme anxiety after afew weeks.and dr put me on prozac which is ment to be less risky during pregnancy.ive been on it 4 2weeks now.ive seen no improvement and im scared it will harm baby.i have constant physical anxiety all day my heart races and my chest has this horrible feeling of dread.help! What can i do to ease this?

I gor diagnosed with depression and anxiety and age 16, three years later here I am and pregnant! I stopped my medication as soon as I found out (20 mg citalopram) but my anxiety and depression are so bad, I really feel like I need my medication. Has anyone taken citalopram or another antidepressent while pregnant? pros and cons?

i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds

I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.

Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?

Really bad bloating and diarrhea but only go once a week. Plus my breasts are very sore. No im not pregnant....When i first started on them i was on 20mg and struggled eatting the Doctor put me to 30mg. But now i have been brought back down to 20mg as my side effects, or so he says. Hi, If you & your husband are not trying to have children, and thus the B.C. pills, until your anti-depressants kick in, I would use a "rubber" along with your BC pill. Meanwhile, while you're doing that, I would ck out the internet site that is put out by the makers of your anti-depressant (apo-citalopram or "citalopram") and look under the medicine's description.

I have an essential tremor in my hand and it seemed to be getting worse. Anyway I felt the citalopram was not doing anything, but was told it could take up to 12 weeks. Don't forget to do some cognitive behavioral therapy so you can work out your negative thoughts. A good book for this is Feeling Good by Burns, but if you can talk to a therapist this is the best way to go.

the doctor told me to go striaght of the citalapram when i got pregnant so im just wondering if any1 else has had to do this and if they have any natural remedies or tips to help me cope? I dont want to end up very depressed again.and i have to stay well for the pregnancy and my toddler. Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. my memory has improved by a good 70% AND i havent had to nap through the day,sleeping much better. still getting the aches but only occasionaly that i can deal with. but all in all this has given me a huge chunk of my life back this week. am still taking things easy but i have so much more energy. going back to my gp for more tomorrow and i hope to god they keep working. fingers crossed...

I just started it and all of a sudden getting numbness in left arm and like it is light feeling . So I guess I will give it a week and see. Glad to know thought it was sign of stroke because of the numbness but my heart is good and blood pressure already went to the doctor.

Hello, I have been given Citalopram 10mg to take and not sure if I should or not. I have been dealing with issues for about a year now of getting lightheaded and feeling of passing out which I have done a few times, very scary, hot/cold flashes, sweats, crying spells, numbness of feet and tingleing in my right pinky, ear ringing and many more issues. Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.

s are not 100% sure if it is this or something called Activation Syndrome which can cause similar symptoms and purly means that the body is getting use to the drug and building up in the system it can cause side effects. As soon as the body gets use to the drug the side effects stop, in some people it can be a week or two, others a couple of days, some months....cause everyone if different.

He took me off the blood pressure meds and prescribed me citalopram. I am now on 20mgs of citalopram and 0.25mg clonazepam. I however still feel my pulse all the time, all over my body. And everytime i go to check my blood pressure i have an anxiety attack. Yesterday my first reading was 160/60 HR of 145 and then after 5 times it went down to 122/75 with HR of 88. So my questions are: why did my ekg say possible biatrial enlargment and the echo came back normal?

I just started taking Citalopram for anxiety and now I can barly feel my pulse in my neck...is this normal? Also I have been getting these other symptoms: mild breathing probelms,(it seems im not getting enough air) chest discomfort, not feeling hungry or thirsty and just a worry that my heart is going to stop.
