I’ve tried different treatments including antibiotics like Amoxicillin, erythromycin, minocycline, tetracycline, doxicycline, & ciprofloxacin each course taken for at least 6 months to 1 year. I have also tried topical treatment like Fucidin, Mupirocin, clindamycin and gentamicin.

Avatar m tn Hysotrectomy at 29 years old. Now 61 years old. No Diabetes. I have since had a MRSA, in the fold between vagina and rectum, due to ingrown hair from the shave of surgery. I have taken 4 different antibiotics to date. Originally, keflex at time of surgery, then Microbid for UTI, then sulfameth/trimethoprim 800 for the MRSA. Then, Dr. office called and urine infection required Ciprofloxacin 500mg. I am retaining between 175ml and 325 ml, each time I self Cathe. I do so 3 x a day.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had an issue back in 2008 and ended up making the decision to live with the problem vs trying to cure it with every antibiotic available. I'd hate to give myself MRSA Staph.(2 more drugs and I'd have it living on me). I went back to get a check up and see if I still had strep v. Now I have two types. Both not stds but both from oral sex....sounds like an STD TO ME but eat do I know.

577106 tn?1219839345 t know if this is were I should be posting this question, but there are no forums for MRSA or staph so I took a chance. If I need to be in another forum please let me know and I will look there. On to my question..so is MRSA curable? If the bacteria shows sensitivity to an antibiotic is the antibiotic more likely to kill the germ? My problem is I have read on the internet and been told two different things, yes it can and no it can't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I also had MRSA and have just found out that I am a MRSA carrier although, I am not infected at the moment.I also have RA and take 7.5 mg of Mexotraxate one time per week. My new orthopedic surgeon called my RA doctor and said hey, need to back off the Mexotraxaate and ALL steriod shots until the foot has healed. My RA doctor concurred. Now, the Orthopedic surgeon was okay with me taking the Medrol which is "Tablets contain methylprednisolone which is a glucocorticoid.
Avatar f tn does that mean he will have re occurring mrsa forever or is it just that he has some of the bodies that are found in mrsa on him? Any advice please? Also surely if he has mrsa here is a high chance like myself and partner now also have it?
Avatar f tn Sparky, behavior issues aside, I am struggling with the thought he has MRSA and is not being treated. I have an acquaintance who had a 4 year old girl with MRSA, and the girl was hospitalized and her home quarantined until it could be disinfected. I don't mean to ignore your concerns about his behavior, but I'm just overwhelmed that it doesn't seem he's being treated for MRSA - has he been treated yet and supposedly cleared? Best wishes.
Avatar n tn not finishing antibiotics will only make the MRSA resistant to whatever antibiotic your daughter used! I should know...I have MRSA. If you want more information please feel free to contact me. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnost with herpes type 2 and i was wondering even with a test done can it be mistaking for MRSA? i did have a case of MRSA in my arm pits as well as a few of my family members with whom i live with, i did not take any anti biotics because it kinda went away on its own. i later found out that its pretty hard to get rid of MRSA. But at the same time i dont experience any itching or burning in the genitalia area and i am aware that it can stay dormant.
Avatar n tn MRSA can be spread by alot of means, but it really depends on where the MRSA is colinized in the person. There are a few ways to get this, and if it is in the nose, mouth, or something like that sure via phone would be a way to get it. The best pertection from this is washing your hands. If you notice you have touched something they have had wash your hands. Also hand santizers are good. You could also ask the person that has the MRSA if they were decolinzed.
Avatar f tn Hello, in 2005 my mother was diagnosed with MRSA due to drainage from a back surgery and one day she woke up not feeling good and when we got her to hospital MRSA had invaded her entire body and my mom almost died. However the MRSA caused her to loose her ability to walk, control her bowel and bladder and it destroyed the nerves and after having MRSA, she constantly got infections of other kinds.
1237007 tn?1267979222 Schiano, Rene has been admitted twice to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with pneumonia (the first time) and now, with MRSA related lung condition. He is being treatd with Vancomyzion and Zofyn. Naturally this compromises his transplant, but I am very worried about the implications in terms of him being able to fight this off, and get better for his transplant. We have a living donor who is very close to getting the go-ahead from the team.
Avatar f tn health-care facilities, (presumably) including hospital nurseries,[24]were infected or colonized with MRSA.[25]Children are more susceptible to MRSA because they are more likely to exhibit minor scrapes, cuts, bruises, and insect bites than adults. Children (and adults, as well) who come in contact with day-care centers, playgrounds, locker rooms, camps, dormitories, classrooms and other school settings, and gyms and workout facilities are at higher risk of getting MRSA .
Avatar n tn http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/cipro_ad.htm) It is difficult to say if they are due to the underlying disease or due to ciprofloxacin. You should consult your doctor for a complete evaluation and diagnosis.

Avatar n tn doctors are trying to diagnose and treat the symptoms of lupus, with a positive ANA test, swelling that only response to high doses of steriods and those cause horrible side effects. I hurt all over all the time, sometimes so bad I can only get relief when I'm asleep. have fine tremors and memory issues, my entire body is swollen, I'm taking so many medications to lower this overactive immune system that now the doctors warn me about being around sick people.
Avatar m tn FYI, most impetigo is caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Some by Streptococcus pyogenes (the same strep that causes strep throat). This kind of Staph causes boils, or crusty kinds of infections. If it becomes multi-drug resistant then they call it MRSA. But yours probably isn't MRSA. Where do you have it and is it on a large part of your body? Usually, you can use the triple antibiotic ointment on it and that will take it away.
