Ciprofloxacin for upper respiratory infection

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprofloxacin for upper respiratory infection

cipro

Avatar n tn I've been taking Ciprofloxacin for about a week. On tuesday I went to the gym for the first time in a while, and for the past few days my shoulder muscles have been sore. I saw on the instructions with my medicine that there's a risk of tendonitis while taking Ciprofloxacin, is this something I should be worried about? I wouldn't have exercised that much if I had known. The soreness has been getting steadily better.
Avatar m tn m sure you can safely stop the ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin was the wrong treatment for NGU anyway). As uncomfortable the symptoms have been for you, there will be no lasting harm. Thanks again for your question. Let me know if anything isn't clear.
Avatar n tn Infections usually start out as upper respiratory infections, such as from a cold and then travel down into your lungs (lower respiratory infection). Other times it's from getting the flu and a secondary infection sets in, such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis. Other times you could get acute bronchitis from being exposed to a lot of irritants in the air (such as wood dust, heavy pollution etc).
Avatar m tn I believe the pharmacist gave me the cipro as I had described the phlegm as yellowish in colour and she thought it was a upper respiratory infection. I stopped the cipro after the itching became unbearable. I should have consulted a doctor, but the pharmacist was closer and I didn't feel all that bad, despite the cough.
2041076 tn?1329881359 I am uncertain about what this statement means but assume the symptoms to be those of a cold or another type of upper respiratory infection. Such symptoms may be caused by persistent or recurrent infection but, in many instances are caused by repeated exposure to, 1) an allergic substance or, 2) to an irritant; that is, they can be caused by something present in your environment.
Avatar f tn Anyone ever had an upper respiratory infection during their pregnancy? If so, did it affect your baby in any way?
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor last wednesday and he diagnosed me with an upper respiratory infection caused by allergies. The main symptom I went there for was this brain fog, I have it bad and still have it bad to this day. The doctor said that would cause it, but i just want to know if it is true and will it be cured by the antibiodics he gave me please help.

Avatar f tn What antibiotic is better to take for a tooth infection/ absess tooth Ciprofloxacin or Bactrim?
Avatar n tn I know this is a guessing game since there is not much research or data dedicated to the cure of this weird but annoying respiratory disorder. I have tried levaquin (long term) it helps for the moment but it comes right back when I stop using the antibiotic. I started having complications using levaquin so I stopped and told my ENT i will never use it again unless it is absolutely necessary.
Avatar f tn The information you have provided suggests that the primary problem is respiratory (in your lungs or upper respiratory tract) and the first step should be for your doctor determine what is going on in your lungs or sinuses as it is likely that the other symptoms you describe especially “headache all the time” and fatigue are likely to be secondary to the respiratory problem.
Avatar n tn m usually prescribed antibiotics for a suspected sinus infection, and take it faithfully but I worry that it dries out my throat even more, exacerbating the croup like symptoms. I also wonder if the anitbiotic is useless if perhaps the origin of my upper respiratory infection is viral. It seems abnormal to have such severe problems with laryngitis.
Avatar m tn Just treat the upper respiratory infection? Will my general practice doctor be able to treat an eye issue? Thank You.
Avatar m tn Mild, occasional sleep apnea, such as many people experience during an upper respiratory infection may not be important, but chronic, severe obstructive sleep apnea requires treatment to prevent sleep deprivation and other complications”. Taken from website http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn I am taking bactrim for a UTI. I also have a sore throat. No scratchiness or raw feeling. It just hurts to swallow. (Like when a piece of potato chip gets stuck going down.) Doctor yesterday took a swab but said bactrim doesn't work for upper respiratory infections. However, she didn't give me an other antibiotic. I don't have fever. But she said the bactrim may be preventing me from having fever. When I looked on line, it said that bactrim is prescribed for upper respiratory.
Avatar f tn After completing the prescription, I still had a sinus infection and ended up in the ER with an upper respiratory tract infection and gastritis. I now have an equilibrium problem to go along with the upper respiratory infection and the gastritis. I don't know what to do st this point. Too afraid to take anything. Can someone give me some advice.
Avatar f tn Kitten was abandon eats solid food is showing signs of upper respiratory infection. She is eating a drinking and playing. Sleeps a lot. How much ml of amoxicillin should I give and for how long?
Avatar n tn Hello there, First of all how do you know your kitty has an upper respiratory infection? If you suspect an upper respiratory infection, please take your fur baby to a vet. If this amoxicillin or ciproflaxin is human medication, do not give this to your cat as this is made for human consumption not for cats. Take your cat to a vet to be properly diagnosed and treated. Under no circumstances should you ever use human prescription meds on a cat.
