Went to the gyno who only tested me on chlamydia and bv, gave me 6 days of azithromycin, 5 days ciprofloxacin and flagyl ovules. After that I felt fine , though the chlamydia was negative. I occasionally had yellow discharge and one arthritis. One week after the arthritis I also experienced the same vaginal discomfort with burning pee this time.(we only had protected sex). I was given the same treatment, didn't improve, got more flagyl got even worse.

I've been reading the posts about chlamydia. If we can't have it for three or four years, for example, without knowing it, how is it that it causes PID and infertility? Wouldn't it need to be around for years to cause these complications? Thanks!

I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?

Oh, no you cant take any antibiotics for PID. PID is treated immediately with antibiotics for at least 1 week. Sometimes PID is caused by more than one type of bacteria and a combination of antibiotics that are effective against a range of bacteria are usually prescribed. PID may require hospitalization.

In the second day taking the ciprofloxacin, my throat pain went away and until now just the pharyngithis and tonsillits persistis.

So, PID is not really on the table but go to a doctor to discuss what is going on and being retested for chlamydia. PID stands for pelvic inflammatory disease. By the way, any symptoms at all? PID causes great pain, fever, etc.

I was also told because of my symptoms that I have PID as well. When I went in for my surgery 2007 they would have told me i had it then, but I didnt. I am sure I was given an antibiotic for the bacterial vaginosis or the Yeast infection because I couldnt get rid of it, but I am almost positive that was late 2007. I was given tons of meds and I am getting retested again in two weeks. He is getting retested this friday and he already took the meds as well.

Your doctor does an assessment for PID during your internal exam. No pain with the exam, not likely you have PID. If you haven't had a full std screen yet why not ask for one to cover the bases? Your future fertility could be at risk though if you always use condoms except for oral sex, the risk of contracting a bacterial std is very , very low. MC can't be tested for without obvious lesions present. Trich also isn't routinely tested for unless you have symptoms of vaginitis.

if they see anything suspicious for gonorrhea or chlamydia, they can send it off to the lab for confirmatory testing. there are also bedside tests they can do for bv if they don't have a microscope in their clinic to use. you don't leave that clinic until they've properly tested you for infections vaginally!!!!!

Thanks for the response. I guess I am being a skeptic. I have a hard time believing i got anything from my ex, especially since it was so long ago. What about DGI? From what I've read, gonorrehea can manifest itself in joints. Symptoms include swollen, painful joint with redness or rash. Testing for DGI would include extracting fluid from the involved joint. My concern is that a swab test may miss that.

Does anyone know how long does it take for chlamydia and gonorrhea to turn into PID after treatment for the STDs? Also I should add that I went into the ER with pelvic pain and was treated for both STDs even though the test cultures came back negative. Could they have been false negatives? I am still in bad pelvic and flank pain.

When I went to the doctor they told me I had pid when I got my result back for gonorrhea syphilis and chlamydia they were negative im not on birth control and I stop so what are the ways I could of gotten it and should I be worried do I need to go to a another doctor

I'd wonder if this is PID if everything is coming back negative. I'd think ovarian cysts, endometriosis, etc., are more likely. Has she had an ultrasound or anything?
