Ciprofloxacin for cold

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprofloxacin for cold

cipro

I went to see a doctor and she gave me antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin). The same day I started to take the antibiotics (about 2 days later), I passed out for no apparent reason. The medics couldn't find anything wrong with my blood pressure. Since it never happened before, I went to see a doctor again (not the same). He could not tell me why I passed out, but I told him about my symptoms and asked for STD tests. I got tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV. All came negative.
Is there anything else I could take to help my mouth/throat to start to heal and not hurt?? There's a prescription called ciprofloxacin that someone gave me, they were given it for a prescription for a cold they thought they were getting, but ended up not needing to take it, should I try to take it and see if that helps my cold and cough? Please help!!! Thank you much!!
NASAL ODOR: I FOUND A CURE! at least for me!!!!! Sorry for the wrong english, because I'm from Brazil and do not speak much english. After six months looking for several doctors and trying everything I could heal myself taking ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for 20 days and I used an antibacterial ointment in the nostrils. Remembering that you can not take the medicine with dairy products for at least 2 hours. Ideally, everything should be totally excluded from milk during these 20 days.
sorry for all the ?
I have been like this for several weeks, along with symptoms of a cold. I know that I feel ill all the time, but doc says its nothing to worry about. I empathise with you.
The first time and the second time were the same; dizzy, nausea, diarrhea, cold chill, shaking and wanted to faint. For the second time, i believe it was b/c i ate the prezzle with the icying drink at the movie theater. Probably those food can not go together, since both have tons of carb. in it. Well, as for now, i still don't know the reasons, though when that happen, I normally go to the bathroom and do whatever, then run back to my bed and put on the green oil and rub it on my stomach.
I am really glad that I found this forum...I am currently in as state of shock over what just took place at my own pain management doctors office. I have herniated lumbar discs which have also caused nerve damage, degenerative disc disease and buldging cervical discs. I have been on morphine for about 4 years, extended release and instant release. Last month the doctor gave ALL patients a urine test and when I got there today he said "we have a problem"...

I was put onto an antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin, the first ime I finished the course, but for weeks after suffered horrendous pain in my knees, so bad I had to use a wheel chair to go out.
My 13 year old daughter has been sick for 10 months (continuously) and we can't solve the mystery. Background info.: She was diagnosed with salmonila poisoning at age 4 and had stomach problems ever since. She "may" have celiac disease (we took her off wheat/gluten 2 yrs. ago and made a huge improvement on growth, stomach pain, chronic sinus infections and need for abx. No one wanted to do endoscopy - so we just changed the diet. Blood tests are inconclusive.
Next, I went to my family doctor clinic and was tested again for chlamydia and gonorrhea. While waiting for that result I was given 100mg of doxycycline 2 times per day for 10 days. Again the tests were negative. I finished this medication about 4 days ago. The stinging in my penis mostly went away by day 6 of this medication but after finishing it the pain has started to creep back in. Still no discharge. And no other aches or pains this time.
Some of the drugs, which need to be avoided with amitriptyline, are cisapride, MAO inhibitors, antihistamines, cimetidine, ipratropium, antiarrythmics, and drugs for cold, ulcers or irritable bowel syndrome. Mention these anti depressants, phenobarbitione, sedatives, tranquilisers and SSRI class including citalopram, fluoxetine, sertraline as these are known to interact with amitriptyline.

Also, try taking a probiotic (acidophilis, or eat yogurt). Usually, before my son goes there he gets a prescription for antibiotics. I think Cipro is the one they give for the stomach. I'm not sure about the chest pain. Could it possibly be from jet lag and body aches from traveling?
5. Ciprofloxacin is effective therapy for many but not all strains of gonorrhea but is not recommended for other, more common forms of urethral infection such as NGU or chlamydia. 6. Respiratory tract symptoms are not due to STDs. Yours may be due to a summer cold or bronchitis. If the symptoms are troubling you, you should check with your doctor. This would be an unusual form of allergic reaction to ciprofloxacin and if it had been due to the cipro, stopping it should have helped.
I am worried because after 8days I had cold and fever for2days. The cold and cough lasted for more than 2weeks for which I have to take clavox and then ciprofloxacin . After that I had severe attack of stomach upset followed by abdominal floating gas frequency for passing stools and I believe anal sores also.. I am already diagnosed for ibs and piles before.. but even after taking tablets for Ibsen. I still have the stomach problems. Do I have to check for hiv now...
Four months ago I started getting blood in my semen and also very bad anal pain after ejaculation. I went to the doctor and was given ciprofloxacin for 10 days at 500mg. The blood stopped. Tests showed that there was no UTI present. A month ago the penis pains returned. Again just a horrible feeling inside but no pain or burning when urinating and no discharge. It goes after a hot bath, and also seems to become better after a bowel movement for some reason. Also gets worse as day goes on.
Doctors therefore subscribed me Doxycycline for 1 week which made the symptoms go away but they came back worse directly after the treatment was over. After that I got a 10 day treatment of Ciprofloxacin and the symptoms went away and everything was fine. After 1.5 Months later similar symptoms returned but instead of testicle pain it felt that it was more located in the left testicular tube. However the testicle is tender so I would suspect epididymitis.
said there was some question about a long QT interval, she said it was nothing to worry about, she didn't even mention it at the time (also, I have had yearly EKGs for about 3 years running, no mention of long QT interval). She also found my TSH levels were high. She put me on 40mg of Inderal, which helps the PVCs. My questions are: Is the Inderal treating my thyroid, which might be causing the PVCs? Or is it treating my heart?
Hello, From the symptoms it looks like thrombophlebitis or phlebitis which is infected. Apply some cold compresses on the site and take some over the counter non steroidal anti inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or diclofenac. Also consult a physician at the earliest as antibiotics are needed. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
I had been suffering with what seemed like cold symptoms for the week, I felt no need to go see someone until I woke up one morning with my eyes shut with dried mucus. I went to an urgent care clinic and they diagnosed me with a sinus infection and hay fever. I was a given eye drops called Ciprofloxacin to help treat my very red eyes. I started treatment the night of the diagnosis and experienced no discomfort or anything.
I'm sure you can safely stop the ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin was the wrong treatment for NGU anyway). As uncomfortable the symptoms have been for you, there will be no lasting harm. Thanks again for your question. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Dear Andy, Thank you for your question. I tend to favor using beta-blockers for PVC's only as a last resort. Here is some general information about beta-blockers. As far as specific medication advice we recommend following the advice of your physician. Beta-blockers are used to treat high blood pressure, angina (chest pain), heart attacks, heart rhythm problems such as atrial fibrillation and more recently heart failure.
Two swabs of my urethra at the opening of my penis for (chlamydia and ghonorea) - prescribed me ciprofloxacin. Cultures came back negative for bacteria (Chlamydia and Ghonerea) which seems strange. Three days on the Cipro and I do seem to experience much less burning in the urethra but I do still feel a dull ache in my pelvic area as well as lower back, and my legs do feel weak at times.
I also had to go frequently and afterwards I never felt finished. A few days later I got a cold sore near my lip and also three reddish sores on my penis. The sores (ulcers maybe?) sometimes have a slight yellowish discharge. One sore, near the tip, also has a few small raised bumps. Three weeks ago I went to the doctor. By then the pain was gone, but I still had the sores. The doctor did a urine analysis and said I had a mild urinary infection. I was prescribed 10 days of ciprofloxacin.
