Ciprofloxacin and yogurt

Common Questions and Answers about Ciprofloxacin and yogurt

cipro

Antibiotics can bring on fungal infections like Thrush by destroying the good bacteria that keeps fungal problems in check. So by drinking and taking probiotics and drinking natural live yogurt will help guard against fungal infection. Sometimes this does not work, and you may need to have an antifungal medication like Fluconazole to take.
The activia makes my bowels worse and I can't hardly eat yogurt anymore at all. I'm lactose intolerant. Do they make probiotics in other forms? I could ask the doctor if that would help me. So far this antibiotic cipro is working. No bowel problems. Unfortunately, I am still coughing a lot and can't seem to shake this respiratory infection very quickly. I still have a week left to take the antibiotics, so we'll see how it goes.
iam taking ciprofloxacin 500 mg tabs for my prosate and my penis and ball burn i like to know is that norman.
It is too bad but you might want to get allergy tested to make sure. 2. The ciprofloxacin has side effects of nausea and vomiting, dizzyness, and so forth. You may want to call your doctor about this. Does it say to take with food or without? If you did and it still causes a problem maybe the doctor can give you an anti-emetic pill to keep you from throwing up. But you should tell them. 3.
The thrush is the likely candidate for causing the enlarged tonsil and then the neck node. Hopefully you are avoiding sugar at all costs (and have no-sugar yogurt if available). If a fungus/yeast is also in your gut (likely), then that can cause fatigue since "leaky gut" lets toxins into your blood, as well as proteins that wouldn't normally get into the blood with the gut's tight junctions intact. That makes you allergic to food in a sense.
It is an antibiotic. You will have a white discharge as it kills both good and bad bacteria. Just eat some yogurt. It doesn't affect your reproduction. And like someone said, if you need the medication for an infection it is better to take it than not. Remember to take all medications as prescribed and drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. If you had a UTI and that is why you are on it, I would recommend going to a drug store and taking the liquid cranberry or pill next time.
I had no diarreah but seemed a little constipated. I've tried Maalox for the cramping and began eating yogurt to try to correct my GI discomfort. It seems a little better, but deffinately not gone. I have a medium amount of discomfort when i have a bowl movement and the stool is very dark. I eat a very healthy diet, alot of fiber, low sugar, low salt, alot of fruits & veggies. This is not a problem i normally experience.
Hi, I was diagnosed with a kidney infection (pyelonephritis) on Oct 24 2012 and was given antibiotics (ciprofloxacin 500 mg) for 10 days. The pain and burning due to the infection went away and I seemed to be getting better, but then in the last couple of days of treatment I developed a severe itching sensation in my major and minor labia (a little near my clitoris). I stopped using tissue paper when I went to the rest room and started washing with water 2-3 times a day. That seemed to help.
And the GI also advised me to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and yogurt too...Anyway thanks for your advise guys...
You also need a course of antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or metronidazole. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.
I am a 27 year old Canadian woman who has been living and working in Japan for the last 2 1/2 years. For the last year and a half I've been having a lot of problems with gastritis and reflux and I can't seem to get rid of them. I first noticed the symptoms last year when I felt a terrible burning in my stomach and had a lot of belching and heartburn after I ate. I had an upper GI X-ray done and there wasn't anything wrong except for excess acid production.
And then 2 nights ago, we again had intercourse and I had pain during and after the act. I urinated after and noticed blood in my urine. I washed my vagina with soap and water and went to sleep. The next morning, I had cloudy urine, pain during urination, irritation in my vagina. I noticed some small red fleshy thing when I wipe off or during urination. I did drink a lot of cranberry juice and ate a lot of yogurt to help with the symptoms. Is this caused by the coitus or with some bacteria?
you get about 10 bouts of diarrhea a day and bad cramps etc. It usually develops within 2 months of taking Ciprofloxacin, Clindamycin and some other drugs. You may want to try to eat two yogurts day to start (that have live bacteria such as bifidobacteria or Lactobacillus sp.). You can order some probiotics or get them but eat the yogurt in the meantime to get your intestines repopulated.
I was prescribed ciprofloxacin for a UTI today, and am a little nervous about taking it because it says "It did not cause birth defects but it did appear to increase the risk for miscarriages when given to pregnant rabbits." what?!?! My Ob suggested it, and the pharmacist said it doesn't sound like it will be an issue and if the OB suggested it, then it's probably fine.. Ughh I hate taking medicine. Did anyone else use oral antibiotics during early pregnancy and turn out okay?!
and now I'm on another antibiotic, ciprofloxacin. And I also have another sinus infection (im guessing). This year is my first time having strep since I was 10. My first ever sinus infection. My first ever UTI. My first time ever taking multiple medications at once. My first time being on antibiotics in about 15 years. Why am I breaking down?
I went back to the hospital after 5days of these symptoms, they did tests for bacterial infections and found non. I was given ciprofloxacin 250mg for a week. Things improved and everything cleared. Three days after finishing this dosage the groin pain came back. Went back and they did a scan and said everything was ok with my testes. I was given another dosage of ciprofloxacin 250mg for a week but only took it for just 3days and went back to hospital because the pain was still there.

My Internist verified my infection and prescribed CIPROFLOXACIN 500. I am into my 3rd day of Meds with absolutely no improvement. The meds make me nauseaous and dizzy. I'm running a 101 fever. During the exam I told the doctor that I had just had a sexual encounter with a new partner and was suspicious of a vaginal tear. He thought I was simply overly sensitive due to the infection. My uretha is in a constant stage of erection.
Two days ago, I developed a low grade fever and went back on the prior infection medicines of metrodonizal and ciprofloxacin. My doctor does not know what is causing my problems, although the CT scans at the hospital and one after release showed inflammation and fluid in my intestines. Yesterday I had small, but non-diarrhea movements, and today it is total diarrhea again.
office called and urine infection required Ciprofloxacin 500mg. I am retaining between 175ml and 325 ml, each time I self Cathe. I do so 3 x a day. I see the Dr. on Tuesday. But I am going to check my resources for a urogyno today as well. Thank you and please anyone that may have had this experience please ge back to me.
I having been taking liquid diet and yogurt and what not, but it just does not go. 2 weeks after the exposure, I felt some itching on the tip of my penis with the penis/urethra tip a little extra red than usual. I started to have feeling of going to pee all the time and I usually felt something getting discharged from my penis in a drop form, but when I check my underwear, nothing comes out.
I do not know about the diff kinds of probiotics, if you heard Florastor works best with the antibiotic you're on, sure, take it, and you can go ahead and take the Culturelle, too. Also, ordinary Acidophilus milk or Activia yogurt, while not as strong as some you get in the store, they do have probiotics in them and are better than nothing.

I took the medication for the urinary tract infection (which wasn't amoxicylin this time; was Ciprofloxacin) and it worked only slightly; it definitely made me feel nautious and provoked frequent bowel movements the whole time I took it. I just went to the doctor's today and the doctor said she suspected that it just hadn't cleared up completely (no more burning but still feeling the need to urinate frequently without much coming out) and prescribed me amoxicylin again.
Do i need to worry about its absorption given the fact I've been taking it with meals including yogurt and cheese? I'm actually taking 100mg x dayx ten days. I would appreciate a response. I can't find an answer in the forum.
I cut out milk and icecream first and tried just yogurt..didn't work. I ended up cutting out milk, yogurt, and ice cream and drink a glass of lactaid with chocolate in it (only way I can stand it) instead. I have been great ever since. Luckily, cheese hasn't been too bad, as long as I take it easy on the amount. My question now is, however, is my baby going to be lactose intolerant and will I still be able to breast feed?
Also I have tried, salycylic shampoos, tar shampoos, jojoba oil, AND nothing seems to help. Please help me and my hair. I am a busy college student, who unfortunately does not have the time and money to deal with this.
In the meantime, do not eat hot and spicy foods, or fried foods. Keep up with the good oral hygiene and drink the yogurt and apply the Daktarin (if you read the instructions, it does say to continue for a few days after the symptoms have settled). When you apply it to yuor mouth, put some in and swish it around your mouth. Try not to eat or drink too soon afterwards so that the Darktarin stays in your mouth for as long as possible.
If you have a fever you may be getting the dizziness and tiredness from that and/or fighting off the infection and/or from the antibiotics. Some species of E. coli and E. faecalis can be resistant too but usually they can find antibiotics to treat both of these at this point. I can't answer the question about what is the risk of not getting treatment as I don't know if you have a wound or urinary tract infection or if it is just found on the surface of the penis.
