Avatar f tn Even though I took all of these meds, can it be that I still have a UTI , kidney infection or kidney disease? I am in the process of getting a renal and pelvic sonogram but it is a long time from now because of the holidays. Please help! Pain is unbearable.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Avatar n tn Microscopic hematuria can be due to urinary tract (bladder) infection, swelling in the filtering system of the kidneys, stone in bladder or in a kidney, blood disease, like sickle cell anemia, certain medicines and tumors in the urinary tract. You may need a series of investigations like urine examination, urine culture, ultrasound or cystoscopy to confirm the diagnosis. Please consult a urologist and get it done. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
1778927 tn?1381878747 m not going through what you are, but I have read that a metal taste in the mouth can be present in a person with kidney disease. Please be careful about having any further diagnostic studies done with contrast since contrast can be damaging to the kidneys! A drug called Mucomyst (also known as N-acetylcysteine) can be given before the contrast administration to help protect the kidneys.
Avatar f tn Causes can be divided according to the affected organ and they are Kidney conditions (infection, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease), Bladder conditions (cystitis, bladder polyp, bladder tumor), Urethral conditions (Sexually transmitted diseases, urethral injury, vaginal inflammation), and certain bleeding disorders. It can be due to chronic UTI or vaginitis also. I would suggest that you consult your Doctor so further investigation can be done.
1442701 tn?1286383987 I thought that maybe I had pulled a muscle in my back even though I didn't even throw the ball that many to times since my lower left side of my back had been hurting. Felt like labor pains Monday night it hurt so bad. On Cipro now. I just wondered if anyone else has unexpected kidney infections too.
Avatar f tn You could have an obstruction or an infection in the kidney. I was quite close to dying from kidney failure when I was given the wrong antibiotics to take. This is nothing to mess around with. Please go to the ER, see a urologist, GP or urgent care.

Avatar m tn The urlogist checked my prostate and felt that it could be prostatitis. He ordered urine culture and put me on two weeks of cipro. The urine culture was before I started cipro. In the first 4-5 days, I saw remarkable progress. A lot of my erection related performance had returned back to normal. In the mean time the urine culture came back with microscopic hematuria. After the 2 week therapy ended my erections issues came back (lack of erection and penis shrinking).
Avatar f tn I agree with Marina that a referral to a specialist is in order. As well one week's worth of antibiotics isn't very much. When I get a bladder infection I need two weeks worth of Cipro (allergic to sulpha drugs - which are the best for urinary issues). Cipro is a harsh drug, but it works well to clean out tough infections. (too if you are exposed to anthrax you'll be fine because that is the drug they use to prevent anthrax infections. useless bit of information for you.
Avatar m tn I am 29 and I took cipro about 8 months ago for a kidney infection and after I took it for a few days I developed pain, tingling and crawly feelings on my back. I didn't realize that it could be from the cipro. I finished the prescription and went on to develop severe back pain between my shoulder blades and tingling skin in my arms and legs. I felt like my arms and legs had sunburn and it was hard to wear clothes sometimes. I went to a neurologist and a rhumey.

Avatar n tn Do cipro cause vaginal discharge and oder and disconfort in my stomach and back and sluggishness? This discussion is related to Discomfort after taking Cipro.
Avatar n tn (I was given a course of cipro without my Naturopathic Doc doing a urinalysis because I was going out of town the day after my symptoms began). I took the cipro (it was a short dose- 3 days, taken 2 times per day), and started to feel better. Then about a week later symptoms came back, tried to treat it naturally and then decided to try the cipro again. After this something still didn't feel right and I suggested a kidney infection as I had started having some back pain.
Avatar f tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! You must try and find a good nephrologist. Recurrent kidney stones are found renal tubular acidosis, medullary sponge kidney, Dent's disease (genetic disease of the kidney), hyperparathyroidism, primary hyperoxaluria and Crohn's disease. For oxalate stones you need to restrict (not totally stop) foods which are high in oxalate like beans, legumes, dark green leaves, egg plant, spinach, beets, chocolates, wheat barn, rhubarb and nuts and fruit cake.

Avatar f tn In the vast majority of patients, CMV disease responds to treatment with intravenous Cytovene/ganciclovir. Also oral Valcyte/valganciclovir has been shown to be effective in treating mild to moderate cases of CMV disease in transplant recipients. Reduction in the degree of immunosuppression should complement the antiviral treatment of CMV disease. Best of luck to your mom!
Avatar f tn they never said what i have , put me on cipro. does anyone no what causes all this stuff in urine? got me worried.
Avatar m tn Hello, For ruling out any kidney infections you should get kidney function tests and an ultrasound kidneys done. You should consult a physician or a nephrologist and get it ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

798555 tn?1292787551 Yes, I have taken Cipro this past year more than any person should, but it was for documented --potentially life threatening -- UTI or kidney stone related infections including hydronephrosis. I stay away from any of the fluro's at all cost and beg for an alternative antibiotic because of the warning above. But some of my infections have been so serious there's the risk/benefit.
1840891 tn?1431547793 Chronic kidney infections—infections that recur or last a long time—can cause permanent damage, including kidney scars, poor kidney function, high blood pressure, and other problems. Some acute kidney infections—infections that develop suddenly—can be life threatening, especially if the bacteria enter the bloodstream, a condition called septicemia.' What are the signs and symptoms of a UTI? Symptoms of a UTI vary by age, gender, and whether a catheter is present.
Avatar f tn Mine went away after 3 or 4 days. When I was hospitalized with a kidney infection I had cipro through an IV for 4 days and was on Zofran round the clock (every 4 hours) because it made me sick the entire time.
Avatar m tn I just returned from my urologist. I have one kidney so every year I go for a check up. I give him a specimen of my urine and he examines it under a microscope. He said that I had pus cells is my urine and checked it for tumors, cancers kidney stones and he said it is none of these. He asked me if I have been sexually active and I said yes. I said I had sex with a female in July and 2 days after that I had burning when I urinated. This lasted 3 weeks and then stopped in mid August.
