Common Questions and Answers about Cipro for uti 3 days

Avatar_f_tn Monday morning the gyn nurse called to say due to culture results, med was being changed to Cipro. 250 mg 2X daily/ 3 days. I am also a brain tumor patient, having had a meningioma successfully resected via craniotomy 5/12/05. Had one "sensory partial seizure" before surgery, one shortly after, none since. No seizure meds since 30 days post-op nearly 2 yrs ago. Also diagnosed Hashimotos hypothyroid 10/05.
867582_tn?1311630997 I recently took a 3 day course of Cipro for a UTI. I have alot of tendon pain already, as I am also battling Lyme disease, but I will "BOLO"! (Be on the look out.
Avatar_f_tn I was diagnosed with an UTI and I was prescribed cipro for 3 days and macrobid for 7 days do I take them together or finish one and then start the other one
Avatar_f_tn so I went back to the other Doctor Who gave me those anabiotic's and they gave me Bactrim for 3 days because they saw still little of bacteria in urine they sent urine out for culture and came back normal. I also got my period during all this and normally from my pH balance be thrown up my bladder acts up, and today I woke up and my urethra burns so bad and feel that I have to constantly P and today I woke up and my urethra burns so bad and feel that I have to constantly pee again.
364288_tn?1300148106 It doesn't hurt to go and I don't feel bad I just feel like I need to go to the bathroom alot! My Dr. put me on Cipro for 3 days and it seemed to work I think! Let me know if anyone has any idea! Thanks!
Avatar_n_tn I had a UTI for the first time 12/5/07. I took Cipro for 5 days. Went back to the dr and took another test to make sure it cleard up. I took a test in the dr's office and it showed slight bacteria. So she gave me another 5 days of Cipro. Went back on 12/17 for a test in the lab showed negative and everything cleared up. The bacterial that I had was 50,000 urogential flora. got up this a.m.
Avatar_n_tn I won't get the test results back until tomorrow and I'm really just curious as to what this is. My doctor told me to take Uristat while I wait for my results and that it would help the pain, I'm a little hesitant because what if I don't have a UTI, would it still be ok to take that. If there's anyone that might have an idea as to what's going on please let me know. Thanks!
Avatar_m_tn Three weeks ago I was told I had a small UTI - traces of blood in urine and 10000 bacteria. No cultures were done. I had the frequency and urgency without pain. I was put on Cipro XL for 6 days and the infection cleared but not the fequency and urgency to urinate. My doctor gave me Detrol LA a week ago and the symptoms have subsided greatly. On Sunday, my husband and I had intercourse. I lubed up well and all was good. Again on Tuesday night, we had intercourse - no pain.
443434_tn?1255894833 I was given Cipro for a simple UTI, I was 36 years old. I was dizzy for three and half weeks, vertigo, nausea, then the ear pressure, spots in left eye, flashes in left eye, short term memory loss, horrible dreams, weak wrists and knees, massive floaters headaches, ears ringing, dry eyes, itching all over, rashes, insomnia, dark spots in left eye, eye pain, blurred vision, sensitive to sound, vitreous detachment happened in left eye and now happening with the right eye.
Avatar_n_tn i recently found out i was pregnant. before finding out doctor gave me cipro for uti, how dangerous to baby?
Avatar_f_tn One test at urgent care and another a few days later through my internist showed no growth, but some blood/pus/white cells. My major concern is that 5 years ago I was hospitalized for 10 days with an eColi ESBL and I don't want to go there again. Questions: 1) Does having had an ESBL before make me more susceptible to it again? I am under the impression that it is the bacteria that becomes resistant over a long period of time and through the general population.
Avatar_n_tn Dear pms barbie, lesley and uptown girl, Thank you for your gentle kind caring. Somehow the care helps. I am interested in what the doctor has to say to. I believe in my heart that the cipro played a big role in this tragedy.
Avatar_f_tn Hey there, When I went to university health center for palpitations and dizziness last week (5 days ago), after some tests I was diagnosed with UTI. I took antibiotics two times a day (Cipro) when I visited again today, doctor told me it was still there, I should finish my medicines and also should take antibacterial pills two times a day (5 days again) Now what I want to ask is, is UTI capable of causing dizziness or palpitations?
Avatar_n_tn Basically it started at the end of April when I had bladder pressure which dr. thought could be UTI and put me on Ciproflaxin for 3 days (while on this antibiotic it was the first time in YEARS I had normal shaped BM, instead of loose "pile"...gallbladder removed in 1/09). Turned out I had an ovarian cyst which resolved itself but caused me GREAT stress and worry, had 2 pelvic U/S to confirm this.
Avatar_f_tn So the doctor gave me cipro to take for 7 days and told me she was going to send my urine off for culture. Well i have been on the cipro now for 3 days and it still hurts everytime i urinate. I'm really confused because i don't understand what else this could be. I have thought about STD's, but i am married and am monogamous on my part. My husband has cheated in the past, but he is not going to admit it if he has recently. If it were an STD, would there be other symptoms?
Avatar_m_tn I was recently diagnosed with a UTI, I was prescribed Cipro for 10 days. by day 4 the discomfort was getting worse, itchy Urethra, rectal, pain, etc... I was prescribed Fluconazole for possible Yeast infection. The next day about halfway through the day I was in severe pain from the testicles up to my left flank. Saw my Doctors PA and they took a urine sample. Sample actually came back clean and I went home.
Avatar_f_tn The only thin gwas my lip will get irritated sting, then chap up and dry out on the lower lip but no sores/blisters gone in like 2 days . Now i have had feelings of a UTI, but taking Cipro in Three day doses and it was gone. I dont know what to think. Because i know the Acid in the urine, if it runs on a sore will cause it to burn, but if a typical out break last up to a week or two and the cipro clears the uti or feeling in three days is there any linkage??? or just a typical uti?
493068_tn?1224768915 I was put on Macrobid for 1 year in August after finishing 10 days of Cipro. September 3+ bacteria on Cipro again 10 days then October 29 bacteria 3+ again just completed 10 days of Levaquin. I only had C&S back in August and none since. Is there a better long term med better than Macrobid?. I am allergic to sulfur. I have Sjogren's and urinary stricture. It is very painful most days and the frequency is hard to deal with. I appreciate any help?? Thanks so much!
1657911_tn?1302307111 hello there! I have UTI and my doctor advised me to take Cipro for 7 days. I recently had headaches. and after one ejaculation which happened 3 days during the medication, i had penis pain and headaches (just after the ejaculation) what happened?
Avatar_n_tn I went to a minute clinic figuring I had a UTI. My Urinalysis showed I had WBC's so the NP gave me 3 days of bactrim. My symptoms got worse so I went to urgent care and they started me on Cipro for 7 days. I felt better and then a week later it started again. This time I only had urgency and I started to have lower back pain. I went back to urgent care and I started on levaquin. After 3 days of that, I still did not feel better.
Avatar_f_tn I am not sure as to which type of bacteria caused it because it was an urgent clinic and it was not cultured. I was given 6 pills (2 a day for 3 days) of Cipro. I have taken all of the pills and I still do not feel better. I have a constant tingling feeling (it feels as though it is from my urethra but I am not entirely sure) which causes me to still feel like I have to pee more than normal. What could be wrong? Did the antibiotics just not get all of the infection?
Avatar_n_tn He told me that he dont pay attention to my bacteria, because the antibiogram says that it was 100,000 and the urologist treat after 500,000, so he told me that he just going to give me an antiinflamatory for the prostate, but when i see the medication, he gave me doxycycline and my antibiogram says that the bacteria has resistance to the tetracycline and im very scared to taking it, because it can increase the bacteria. he told me that take it and ejaculate every 3 days. but im very scared.
Avatar_m_tn Hi my doctor treated me for uti on April 22,2013 gave me antibiotic and something for pain in the urine I'm thru taking the one for the pain but I still feel some some time & I notice a clear fluid discharge is this normal.
Avatar_f_tn After taking myself to immediate care where I was given a urinalysis test, I was prescribed Cipro 2x a day for three days. After the 3 days of antibiotic, I noticed I still had a slight discomfort. A week later it was slowly getting more uncomfortable. I went back to the doctors where they took another urinalysis and sure enough I still had a bladder infection. I was then prescribed Macrobid 2x a day for 7 days.
Avatar_n_tn He had prescribed Levaquine (Levofloxacin) 500 mg twice a day for 3 days. I was completely okay after this antibiotic regimen. Since last sunday (after three weeks of remission), I again had severe pain while urination. Pain was very severe especially at the end of urination and at around base of my Penis (suprapubic?). I started drinking plenty of water immediatly. After some episode of urination I started passing blood and blood clots in my urine with severe pain.
Avatar_m_tn I have lots of swelling and redness at the opening of my urethra. I went to urgent care last week to get treatment for a UTI and was prescribed cipro (500mg x 2/day x 10days). The doctor said my urine was neg. for a UTI but that I could have an issue with my prostate (prostatitis?) I am 47year old male. Next day I went to the eye doctor because my eye is real bad and he ran a test that was pos. for adenovirus. He said it would be 1-2 weeks to clear up.
Avatar_m_tn I went to urgent care last month for a uti. The urine test came positive and the doctor put me on some antibiotic for 3 days. I still had the pain in my stomach after I finished the medication and I went back to the doctor again, who prescribed me with a 5 day antibiotic. The AB worked but the stabbing pain in my bladder came back when I went to the doctor and he said I could have another UTI, but the urine test came negative and put me on Macrobid for 5 days.
1833444_tn?1325560662 At the end of my last and successful tx for the HCV I developed a particularly potent UTI that went straight into my kidneys, and for that I was given the 500mg dose of cipro. I still had no problems with it, but you might also want to ask your doctor why the larger dose. My doctor informed me that 250mg is the standard for a normal UTI.
