Cipro for stomach bacteria

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro for stomach bacteria

cipro

Avatar m tn I also took Xifaxan simultaneously for the IBS 500 mg 3 times daily for 10 days. The Cipro seemed to help the joint pain but the two compounded the GI symptoms. I started having allergic type reactions to every food I ate, presumably an immune response to increased permeability associated with gut irritation. After I finished the Cipro, the joint pain returned along with some mild urethral irritation. I am allergic to Flagyl, so from what I've read my next option will be doxycycline.
Avatar n tn They said that no bacteria was present. Prior to my EGD I was taking Cipro for a kidney infection. Could this have made the bacteria non present? If not bacterial than what ar the non bacterial types?
Avatar f tn I was over seas for 20 years and was always prescribed cipro for bacteria infection. Worked in India, pakistan, bangladesh and kenya and always came down with something. The doc said cipro kills 90% of any stomach bacteria ingested and is a very strong med and can definatley upset your stomach.
Avatar m tn My wife was sick for roughly 5 weeks before she was diagnosed with having a bacterial infection. The dr. gave her a 10 day course of ciprofloxacin (500MG twice daily). During this time she got some relief, but is still feeling sick. She has mentioned antibiotics have always made her sick but she hasn't taken any for 4 days now, and is still feeling quite nauseus and upset stomach on and off throughout the day (most significantly after eating). She will try to call her dr.
Avatar n tn That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro. Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome. You had protected sex and condoms are very effective in preventing the spreading of STD,s. So contracting them is out of the equation. your upset stomach is from parting and flying. They gave you cipro as kills 99% of stomach bacteria so the they treated you for a stomach viris not STD's. not sure about the other one or why they switched. No testing means no knowing. Its for sure not STD related.
Avatar f tn They started doing cultures and some of them have come back negative for bacteria. Cipro still helped those so the urologist indicated sometimes the infection is not in the bladder but in the urethra and it "hides" the bacteria (won't show up on the cultures.) I have tests I have yet to get done because I just started a new job. I might try to take a day off and schedule a bunch of tests back to back. Still take your medicine but I'd go back in to the doctor.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Avatar m tn Hi bobby, im not sure about cipro but i do know i took it for stomach bacteria while traveling overseas. But doctors know what to prescribe for infections and prostititus is not a big time infection like Gonorrehea. Really sounds like an irregular movement during sex as you had the pain the next day. Shooting pains could be from a pinched nerve. Your prostate is connected to all the areas that you mention and your urethrea goes down the middle of it and could also cause shooting pains.
Avatar n tn I feel for you. I had diarrhea at least half-dozen times a day for six months. I thought I was gonna die! Turns out it was an ordinary medication i was on, my doc and I just switched to a diff tranquilizer, Ativan, and when I stopped taking it, symptoms went away instantly, and I went back on my old tranq. I, too, had eaten at a restaurant about the same time I started a diff tranq.
Avatar m tn ve taken cipro from 7-14 days and even IV cipro for an infection. can you get a terrible lung infection and worsening of asthma?
Avatar f tn Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago. Should I be repeating the same antibotic so soon, and will it be as effective if I do.
Avatar m tn Now 5-6 days into medication cipro seems to be helping a bit. I tried masturbation today to test the waters and now I feel worse. I really don't feel it as much the moment I wake up in the morning and it seems to be more noticeable as day progresses. My Questions: 1. Since this was a high risk encounter, should I be retested for above STDs? 2. Does this sound like Prostatitis? Or what could it be? 2a. I heard prostatitis is hard to cure is that true?
Avatar n tn Do cipro cause vaginal discharge and oder and disconfort in my stomach and back and sluggishness? This discussion is related to Discomfort after taking Cipro.
Avatar n tn Do you have a chance to check, if anyone other who ate that pasta got sick? You might want to ask the waiter or the cook. Just an idea. If it was from pasta, then this is a food poisoning - from bacteria, or parasites. If your diarrhea is not so bad or explosive, but rather mild, then it is even more probably from parasites, like Giardia - these infections strat slowly and without proper treatment extend through weeks.
Avatar f tn So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain. I am thinking that my bacteria is now resistant to antibiotics after taking so many. Does anyone have experience with this? Could it be a kidney stone lodge in the right part of my urethra?
Avatar f tn Placed me on Cipro symptoms were not any better, culture from walk in showed contamination so they wanted to repeat the specimen. Went to the clinic and gave a repeat specimen, it showed Entercoccus was placed on Augmentin. From research I have found that the only thing that works on Entercoccus bacteria is vancomycin.
Avatar f tn I am a diabetic patient I took Cipro for UTI, I stopped it 15days back .
Avatar m tn He put me on Cipro for 1 week. After the Cipro was finished, the burning in the urethra had stop but a slight pain in my prostate was still there at nights for a while. About a week ago (3weeks after i finished the cipro) i realize that the pain in my prostate felt as if it was gone but now i feel the burning in my urethra and penis returning again as it did before. I am convince that I must have contracted some sort of virus or bacterial infection or STD from my sexual encounter.
Avatar m tn I have been nervous ever since even went to a walk in clinic and told them my simptoms they took a urein sample and the dr told me it was negative for bacteria and he would try to grow culture. He prescribed ciprofloxacin 500mg for 5 days because he thought it may be prostatitis.
Avatar n tn The mild pain was still there, so I went back and he did a exam of my testicles and said everything seem fine but he gave me a proscription for Cipro to take if the pain did not go away in a few days. Now I am taking Cipro and it has only been a four days and the mild pain is still there. The pain is so mild that I have to think about it for me to notice it, or I have rub my testicles to notice it. By no means are they tender to touch! How long does it take Cipro to work?
Avatar m tn I started to have some slight discomfort again and my doctor put me on cipro 500mg twice a day for seven days. I am on day 3 and it seems to help some but am nervous it wont cure it all. They said soap or some other bacteria most likely caused this and it could be the soap i'm using when i bath that is causing this irritation. what do you think?
Avatar f tn Hi Sam, I'm not a doctor, just a paramedic...I experienced something similar in the past and It turned out I had e-coli poisoning. The black stools you described sounds like you had slow bleeding into your gut, and your intestinal lining and kidneys were inflamed. The antibiotics should have taken care of that, but you need to be checked each month for the next two months to be sure it is gone and to have your kidney functions monitored.
Avatar f tn I was given cipro 500 mg twice a day for a sinus infection. After completing the prescription, I still had a sinus infection and ended up in the ER with an upper respiratory tract infection and gastritis. I now have an equilibrium problem to go along with the upper respiratory infection and the gastritis. I don't know what to do st this point. Too afraid to take anything. Can someone give me some advice.
Avatar n tn If someone has a history of UTI's and has no health insurance, why won't a doctor give a patient a refill? Why do I have to pay anywhere between $100 - $200 to go to the bathroom in a cup to confirm what I already know is true because I have had UTI's many times before. At a desperate attempt, I brought all the empty bottles of cipro and other drugs prescribed for my past UTI's to show that this wasn't something I was making up. I hoped the Dr.
