I was given Cipro for possible salmonella, and am concerned about all of the side effects I have been reading about. Is this a safe drug? I woke up with anxiety and some stiffness this morning, and am scared it's going to get worse. Please help.
So sorry you are not well. It sounds like you picked up a bug/infection somewhere. Could be from the water or food.
Salmonella or e coli perhaps. Maybe just H Pylori. In any case, you need a doctor.
In the meantime, try drinking 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in your glass of water. That's good for Salmonella. But H Pylori and e coli need a medical prescription.
By now she thinks she can control her symptoms by cutting out certain foods like onion, garlic, bell peppers etc. She does OK for a while but things get worse for her and then she finds blood in her stool. It’s really red, and it only happened once but there was quite a lot. She said it seemed to leak out of the stool and turned the water red.
She gets sent to get a colonoscopy and a gastronomy, which are both done.

5 hour bus ride having to go to the bathroom every five minutes or having to see another doctor in Chile for an Rx for Cipro. I took lots of Imodium (6 the first day, 4 the second, 2 the third then stopped) I continued the Cipro but on the second day off of Imodium was having explosive watery stools. So I went to the doctor in Chile and all my tests came back negative for pathogens.
This got me thinking because I am very careful about what I eat and almost always prepare my own food.
I'm just wondering what my odds of contracting salmonella are. I went out to the Wildlife Sanctuary today and fed the ducks, and two decided to fly up onto my shoulder. They even climbed on my feet. If there were any germs, they're now pretty much everywhere. I've touched my jacket, scarf, phone, wristlet, etc. Countless surfaces I could have passed any germs to.

He put me on Cipro for 1 week. After the Cipro was finished, the burning in the urethra had stop but a slight pain in my prostate was still there at nights for a while. About a week ago (3weeks after i finished the cipro) i realize that the pain in my prostate felt as if it was gone but now i feel the burning in my urethra and penis returning again as it did before. Ask you doctor for a Culture & Sensitivity (C & S) urinary analysis. In the mean time, you should increase your liquid intake, but not from coffee, tea or alcohol. This should ease a lot of the burning.

Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro.
Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.

E colic and salmonella are both serious. Salmonella is not just "a bit of diarrhea" if you test positive for either it must be reported to your local health department and you'll be very sick for some time, and you can still shed the bacteria in your stool for up to 5 weeks.
My question about handling reptiles is because reptiles are known to be carriers of salmonella. Salmonella, while generally not a walk in the park, is supposed to be catastrophic for those immuno-compromised.

Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
