Avatar m tn About a month later I started to have significant irritation with my prostate, increased frequency, and signs of bladder infection. Dr prescribed cipro 500 mg 2X daily for 10 days, based on previous prostaititis. Symptoms eased a little, but still had frequency issues, slight discomfort in pubic area, irritated meatus. Through this whole period, I have had ZERO discharge (no discharge for my wife either). My wife has had some bladder discomfort, and increased urinary frequency.
1168718 tn?1464983535 I have just finished a 10 day of Cipro for a bladder infection, after 5 days, it was not gone, so got the refill for another 5 days. I was also on Cipro after my bladder surgery 8 weeks ago. So, I should be infection free, right ???? Well, I don't think it is gone, and I have yet another sugery on the 20th , one week from Tuesday. Just wondering if anyone else has been treated this much for an infection, and if so, what did they do next. ??? Please help, with your information ..
4801019 tn?1359345412 old male dealing with what I believe is a Bladder Infection. So this all started off like four months ago. I was peeing a lot, burning when I peed, no discharge, lower back pain, lower abdomen pain & also a itch inside the penis. My family doctor did a urine sample on me & he said the sample came back with a bit of an infection, so he gave me a antibiotic but I can't remember the name, & said to take it for five days.
Avatar f tn They had me on ciproflaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day and doxycycline for 10 days at 100mg twice a day. They took me off the antibiotics because stated I had not infection. I continue to have the UTI symptoms and can only drink water. I have tried coffee but it irritates and causes burning again. This started as a UTI infection the Urologist stated but now I have none and stated my bladder is just spasming out. They tried to put me on Tovias but no relief does not work.
Avatar f tn Any positive feedback on taking Cipro? Diagnosed with bladder infection. Took first dose this morning. Scared to take second after reading all bad stuff. The only thing I feel is a little tingly in arm and hand.
Avatar f tn In 2017 had some frequency and pressure for a few weeks and then episode of gross hematuria. Put on Cipro. Symptoms cleared right up. Culture was not done. Saw urologist. Cysto and CT w/o contrast done. Negative. Over the 2.5 years had irritative symptoms on and off with microscopic blood. Cultures negative. Urologist said IC. 5 months ago had a couple days of slight burning then episode of gross hematuria. Put on Cipro but culture came back negative.
886230 tn?1242081720 Have any of you had a bladder / UTI infection post op? I have been doing really great up until today. My back pain was worked out with very gentle massage and extmely careful hip & lower back adjustments from my chiropractor. He said that they really threw me around on the O.R. table... Once he did his ever so gentle adjustments my back has been excellent again!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
Avatar m tn Most prostatitis is non-infectious. Antibiotics are routinely tried in the hope they will improve symptoms, but mostly they have no effect. Prostatitis symptoms usually include bladder symptoms as well; it doesn't mean there is a separate bladder infection and you can expect your urine culture to be negative. There is no evidence that trich causes prostatitis, but some doctors include one of the anti-trichomonas treatments (metronidazole or tinidazole) if other antibiotics don't work.
Avatar m tn infection) so she put me on 7 days of cipro. Avatar f tn Hi, Recently I went to my local ER with bad pains in my lower back and around my ribs. I told them my family has extensive histories of bladder/kidney issues (my aunt died as a child due to kidney failure, for example). After they did a simple urinalysis, I was given some antibiotics and sent on my way. Now, 3 days later, I find my symptoms are not even beginning to improve.

Avatar f tn Coli and entercoccus. I was put on Macrobid for 5 days didn’t help at all, was then switched to Cipro for 5 days. After 24hrs on Cipro all my symptoms went away. One week later my symptoms of a UTI retuned. Back to the doctors I went culture this time showed bacteria count less then 10,000. My doctor felt the infection was gone but I could be having bladder spasms. He give me spasm medication and referred me to a urologist. Fast forward another week still having UTI symptoms.
Avatar f tn Your doctor is giving you a strong but short course of tx for a bladder infection. I'm prone to them due to spinal cord damage that makes it hard to empty my bladder completely, so I have LOTS of experience. The standard course with cipro is 250mg, twice daily, for a full 10 days. Even more standard is tx with sulfa drugs, but I developed an allergy to them so I haven't had them for ages.
Avatar n tn I started running the washroom more frequently and feeling 'urges' to go about 6 weeks ago. I've never experienced this and didn't feel sick so I waited for almost two weeks before seeing a doctor. He first prescribed septra for 5 days and it didn't do anything. Then Cipro for 7 days and I started feeling a little better so he gave me 5 more days of it. I thought I was doing much better but the day after the presecription ended, I started having the same symptoms.
Avatar n tn Doctor has prescribed cipro 500mg 2x a day for about a month because he feels it might be a prostate infection. Urine tests at lab show no infection however dipstick testing at clinic show white blood cells in urine, proteins and pus. I have done an ultra sound of the urinary tract and shows prostate to be of normal size.
Avatar n tn I was tested for hep b,syph, ghon, clamyd, and i did a 48 hour result test at a clinic for hiv. They all came back negative. My last sexual exposure was last spring...march...and i got tested in december.
Avatar m tn Usually a course of clindamycin or Amoxillicin is prescribed for an oral infection but Cipro should work fine.
1840891 tn?1431547793 I have gone to the E.R. a couple of times, over a bladder infection.
Avatar n tn t do a test and prescribed me cipro for a bladder infection. I took it for 5 days, 10 pills, and am only 5 weeks. I had some cramping but no bleeding at all. The ER couldn't see anything because I was around 4.5 weeks so I'm seeing my OB tomorrow but would love to read anyone else's experiences with Cipro during pregnancy. Thank you!
Avatar f tn He has a suprapubic tube inserted into his bladder. For the last six days he has had blood in his urine. A round of Cipro has made no difference. What should be done now? What could be the cause?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response and info, Dr. Kaul. I did take Cipro for a week after this procedure; so, I know I don't have a bladder infection. I still have intermittent burning, sometimes dreadful, sometimes mild. I guess that's the curse of IC. At least my doctor found nothing life-threatening from the cystoscopy! However, I wish he had mentioned the inflammation that occur from this test. I didn't know WHAT was happening to me....
Avatar f tn I thought I had a bladder infection, as I had the burning related symptoms. I took Macrobid 7 days BID and the symptoms did not go away. When I've had a bladder infection in past years, the symptoms would go away within a couple days, so this was really different because I took the whole RX and symptoms remained. I then went to my GP and had a urine culture done and nothing grew; however, my doctor said to take Cipro 500 mg BID for 7 days. The burning stopped.
Avatar n tn The question is whether you have a recurrent infection or a persistent infection. A recurrent infection is treated with an appropriate antibiotic (determined by a culture) and the infection is eliminated. Then there is a period when you have no infection, then a new infection occurs. A persistent infection is one that was never eliminated but just suppressed while on antibiotics. It is caused by a focus of infection somwhere in the urinary tract. It's caused by the same bacterium.
Avatar n tn Is there any reason that I should take another round of Cipro since I only took 5 days and rbc went from 3+ to 1+ with Cipro dose for 5 days? Thank you.
