Common Questions and Answers about Cipro and vision

cipro

Of those 171 cases, 20 were linked to Levaquin and 75 were linked to Cipro. Other drugs linked to double vision included Tequin, Avelox, Noroxin and Floxin. All are in a class of drugs known as fluoroquinolones and are used to treat infections, including bacterial or chronic bronchitis, sinusitis and urinary infections.
Dark colored urine ( I cannot tell if it is dark because of blood or not), painful urination, pain under ribs, and blurry vision that comes and goes. I called my PCP and he prescribed Ciprp 250mg x 7 days again but did not see me in the office due to me not having health insurance. He was able to view my previous ER records and said that it looked like I had a bad infection previously and that it needed to be taken care of because of possibility of sepsis.
However, there is a major drug-drug interaction with warfarin (Coumadin) and Bactrim. Please follow up closely with signs and symptoms of bleed and check your INR again.
In early april I was diagnosed with Chronic Prostatitis (which I can remember suffering from for a while and thinking it was bloating/cramps). I started taking Cipro 500 twice a day and I noticed significant improvement of my condition, even though I'm not 100% cured.
Over the past few weeks, I have had recurrent sinus symptoms-pressure in my cheek, around my eyes, etc. I went to the dr when I first had these symptoms and was put on Amoxicillin and nasal spray. Around the time I started to get the sinus symptoms, I noticed blood vessels popping up in my eyes. They are mainly on the sides, top and bottom, but are not very visible unless looking at my eyes closely. My eyes feel kind of irritated (and somewhat itchy), but there is no discharge.
I also am allergic to (found out after taking them for 11+ days) CIPRO and was prescribed CIPRO (took for 4 days) and LEVAQUIN (took for 7 days) shortly after having my daughter 6 years ago. Could this be a symptom of any of taking these mediciations? I have been told that my neuropathy stems from anxiety but I just don't think so. I took depression medicine (Effexor) for 2 years and they NEVER stopped. Since having my 2nd child in November 2007, the twitching is getting worse.
still dryness but upon look up felt dizziness and saw slight doubles. I am using eye drop and taking cipro in case there is damage done to my cornea. This is the third day. I am somewhat better, still can't look up without the doubles.
I had a baby in Jan 4 months ago and right after started having horrible head aches daily well I chalked it up to epidural they continued and I got worse and worse w my ear hurtig down in and very full feeling, swelling in my hand and feet and neck,my neck hurts so bad then I got seerly dizzy and blurred vision that is dabilitating! Although I lose the GI motility effect of PCE, the doctor said I could start taking PCE again with the Cipro if the abdominal distention and nausea return. I am taking 10 days worth of Cipro anyhow and I am off the PCE until I finish. So could either of these antibiotics cause the weird pupil/blurry vision problem? I am a 27 year old male.
Once I completed the round, the blurred vision, and head pressure came back.. I have been using Alavert D12 and Flonase for past week. Just recently, have had vision issues again and dizziness. I cannot even ride in the car, I get like- car sick, too much motion. Then I feel panicky, because my head is not clear and the ENT office states that dizziness is normal. I am now starting to feel pressure on left ear, and I just do not want to have surgery.
1 and a half weeks ago, I have had constipation with and lower abdominal pains, that brought me to an urgent care place, they put me on flagyl and cipro, and thought it was diverticulitis. When the pain didn't go away and got better then worse, I went to see my pcp. She thought it was colitis and sent me for a CT scan. They found a 3cm cyst on my left ovary.
Just got switched to Cipro due to possible UTI and/or prostate infection, and a culture of a skins lesion showing Serratia marcescens ( weird place for it to show up huh? ).
Sounds like your syptoms are the same as mine. The only antibiotic I took was cipro and I'm sure without doubt that this is the problem. I can't offer you much help as I'm still pretty bad myself.
I use to go to the ER often when it started 4 years ago now I take a Xanax and deal with it! The blurred vision and heart racing seem to come and go every 6 months. I have had doctors every blood test known to man, MRI's, colonoscopies, you name it. NOTHING WRONG!!! How can that be! Something in my body is off and nobody can help!! I have tried all kinds of homepathic remedies they help for a while but the symptoms return when they feel like it...
Well, symptoms definitely persister, and got a lot worse, so I changed doctors and he tested me for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Chlamydia came back negative, but positive for Gonorrhea. He gave me a script for 2 Cipro 500 mg a day for 5 days and a doxy regimine too (just to be safe towards anything else that could be hiding). Well, it's been 10 days since I finished the Cipro and I'm still having problems.
It appeared at first to be some other infection and I was given Cipro, then later Acyclovir and it cleared up. 2 mos.later I had urinary trouble, retaining urine, and have had ever since to varying degree. Had a cystoscopy showing probable prostatitis. I started two months of Cipro. I got numb in left leg lasting a day, limbs falling asleep, electrical sensations (including shocks when I bent my neck), spots in my vision. These would come and go.
I just came across this thread today, and since the last post was made in March of last year, I have my doubts that anyone is still reading it. With that in mind, I just thought that I'd make a quick post to ask how how floxie's situation has progressed. Nothing is more important to me than my hearing, so I felt really bad when I read about your hearing loss. Have you gotten any of your hearing back? Has the tinnitus lessened any? If you're still reading this thread, please do respond.
I do have a history of fungal problems around my anus, And i have been reading about Diabetes which when i look at the symptoms i have a couple such as Tingling and Numbness in hands and Feet which has been getting more prevalent recently also some blurred vision so i am going to get tested today. My wife suffers from Indemetreosus?? is this a possible connection.... i have resumed Sex last week after a 4 month break from my wife ... as i have explained the situation to her.
Insomnia, vision changes and eye problems, headaches, shakes, chills, fevers, numbness, burning, tingling, electric shock feelings, neck pain, muscle and joint pain, jerking and twitching of limbs and muscles, restless leg syndrome, spasms, cramps, fatigue, muscle weakness, balance problems, abnormal anxiety, depression, acid reflux, etc. Any one person will not have every single symptom. Everyone's symptoms differ in severity, the number of symptoms and what body systems are affected.
First of all, keep in mind that I am unable to diagnose you because I am unable to examine you, this forum is for educational purposes. Floaters are caused by debris in the vitreous humor of the eye (the jelly like fluid in the eye). This debris then causes shadows on the retina that may appear as spots or lines in the vision. These are most often "normal" findings, get better with time and do not suggest any other underlying disease.
I've been on antibiotics 3 weeks out of the 11 i've been on treatment. They were Biaxin, Lexapro, and Cipro. I've had infections every time. These are all for those allegergic to penicillin (i'm also allergic to sulfa). I haven't seen any negative impact, but my doc told me to inform him any time I was prescribed them, I guess so he could keep an eye on my CBC's.
I have a vague dx of ON. I have fuzzy vision in my right eye started 8 months ago, colors are dimmer and it gets worse when I exercise, eat hot food, go into the sun. Prior to this I had a completley blocked right sinus infection x3 months and was several courses of very strong anti=biotics. I saw the ENT, opthicneurologist, neuro, had an mri, blood tests, but there is no precise dx. I feel it is related to the sinus infection, but the md's are all saying no.
In '98 I had the onset of what were more neuro-type symptoms-very blurred vision in right eye with a color/shading discrepancy in my vision (when I close one eye and then the other), and the right side of my mouth started drooping. In '99 after a bad intestinal infection my left leg and arm became somewhat weak and later I started having trouble swallowing.
My fever still comes and goes but not as much as it did three days ago. Muscle aches, tightness in my head, and blurred vision arent as prevelent either. I could handle any of these symptoms but its the aching down below that comes on after the Cipro wears off thats got me. When the nurse swabed my uretha, she said that it was dry and that she couldnt get much on the swab. Is there a possibility of false negative? I'm totally confused and baffled as to what is going on with my body.
I am suffering from chronic eye static that does not resolve in both eyes. When I close my eyes I see "snow" akin to a tv channel without a signal. And approximately once a week, I will get oppressive headaches around my temples and eyes, accompanied by chills. I am experiencing odd swelling in my hands and random mild joint pain. I feel subtly more tired than usual. These symptoms begain a little over 1.5 months ago after a trip to South America. From Dec. 18, 2007 - Jan.
I used to have muslce twitching all of the time, my heart would pound all of the time, I would wake up in panick attacks, and would mae myself sick to the point where I would throw up. My hands and arms would tinlge and burn, and I my vision was blurry, and my head would pound and my jaw would throb, and one of my worst symptoms was I had and still do have, depersonalization/derealization, and I would feel almost like I was high on some kind of drug, and that I was watching my life as a movie.
What's going on with me? I was in Mexico 3 weeks ago and got travelers diarrhea and high fever, treated with Cipro for 5 days. Been fine since except a little gas and bloating.
I would estimate that I usually feel it in the Corpus Callosum or the Thalamus (deep in my head), as well as this very strange feeling in my forehead of eyebrow heaviness, and sometimes double vision and eye pain as I move my eyes left or right. Also severe dizziness has been suddenly activated just by eye movements. I also experience bouts of positional vertigo that lasts several days at a time and then goes into remission for a spell. Here is the strange part...my ears feel full.
Six months later I have had drastic changes in my personality, depression, apathy, lower sex drive, constant hunger, swelling, headaches, vision problems and chest pain, dizziness, fatigue, naseua, weight gain, paranoia and just a general feeling of being off. I didn't feel like myself. I documented all this in a journal and finally got to a point where I couldn't take it anymore. I have recently gone off the pill and am finally starting to feel like myself again.
I saw my primary care physician the next day and was told that I had a prostate infection and was given Cipro (Tuesday). I didn't think to mention the neck stiffness because I figured I had slept wrong. After 2 days on the Cipro, my neck became more and more stiff and I notice a slight fog/difficulty concentrating developing in my head so I called my primary care and he advised to stop the Cipro and prescribed Bactrim instead (Thursday). I followed his instructions and began taking the Bactrim.
