My culture comes back positive for staph. I had never heard of a vaginal staph infection. My doctor prescribed Cipro (tests showed the staph was resistant to penicillin) and after two rounds (three days each) it has finally cleared up again (again, about a week after my cycle has ended and after two three-day rounds of the cipro). She also recommends having a herpes blood test done because she wonders how I contracted the staph and why it is recurring with my cycle.
Right now am still on both Cipro and Doxy but am dealing with pus forming with 2 burst sites. Surgeon wants to see me again on Monday to determine if I need to go to Operation Room for incision to really clean out all pus and packing/dressing afterwards. I am feeling petrified since I do not want to be cut open...and fear that it will just aggravate GM more than before.
Received unprotected oral sex again and same problems started all over again. Given azithro, cipro, and levaquin again and nothing cleared symptoms up. I tested twice for HIV at 8 months (oral test) and a year (blood test) and both were neg. Went to urologist and he said I had scared tissue that he removed and also performed varricocelle surgery. I have the same tenderness in my right testicle which I notice increases as I sit for long periods.
I have been to the dermatologist and he keeps putting me on different antibiotics each time. I have been on doxycycline, cipro and now levaquin. It clears up only to return after a couple of months or so. Will this ever go away eventually? He has never done a culture of any sort yet. Can my boxer bulldog be causing me to get infected? I never had this problem until we got her about 3 years ago. What can I do to make this go away for good? HELP!

I've typed it wrong!! I've took the meds 1 day AFTER the tests!!!! I've took the tests and then 1 day AFTER (24 hours after the tests) I've bought azithromycin because I was feeling paranoid!!! I've took 1g once as it says on the papers inside.

In my tests there's a paper saying I'm sensitive to 10 meds (100% of the list).
I didn't have any side effects after taking azithromycin.
My Dermatologist did a nose swab, and the results came back as psudomonas, and I completed a dosage of Cipro, and used neosporin in the nostrils.
One of the bolis has come back however, approximately as big as a fingertip, and is somewhat painful. I went back and had a culture of the actual infection taken (results unknown), but as the doctor said the drainage was just blood, that I am probably dealing with a cyst that may need to be removed.

This was treated and cured ... I was prescribed steroids, doxycycline, cipro, and a salve. A biopsy was done, and was told that I had dermatitis and there was staph, but nothing more than normal. I started to have some pain when urinating, but was told that it was probably due to the steroids... nothing to worry about. Over the course of the year, the pain would come and go. I wouldn't really call it a burning sensation, but, whatever you call it, it was uncomfortable when urinating...
One member I talked to whose children had it, told me the local school notified the parents one child had MRSA and had been hospitalized and was doing fine. Staph can kill you, and the drs playing around with hit and miss antibiotics are ridiculas. If you don't get results, have the dr refer you to an infectious disease dr. Staph is a bacteria infection. A yeast infection normally itches and it comes from an overgrowth of good bacteria. Monistat can clear up yeast.
Developed abscess that erupted and then went to see infectious disease doc since it was getting worse! ID doc said I got Staph from biopsies so she put me on Doxy. Doxy + Cipro+Motin made it much better so guess it was Staph infection. Now I have had several times of ultrasound guided needle drainage of pus. Today she said that she will determine upon next visit if I will need to go to operation room for incision and packing etc.
I also had a tender lymph node on one side of my groin. Took prescription of 1g Azithromycin and Cipro for me as well as partner on 6/4. Since then her eyes have gotten worse, as has my painful urination. The discharge has increased and gone from clear to milky. We've been taking amoxicillin 500mg x 3 since 6/6 with no sign of improvement in any of the conditions. In fact, I am now developing the conjunctivitis!
The doctor put me on cipro. Ever since then, my symptoms had changed and I have upper abdominal pain under my ribs, an intermittent achy back, intermittent deep burning aching in my thighs. This has been going on for 4 months! It is just insane that all of this started from a varicocele. I do not know if the cipro gave me ibs or what, but my life has changed for the worst ever since having that happen to my left testicle.
Eventually I got a swab and was given Ceftraxone 1 shot 500mg the same day. 5 days later the lab reported staph and gave a sensitivity analysis. The urologist gave me over 2 weeks of Cravit 3 days x 500mg plus 2 weeks x 250. As well as Anti Inflamitories, and meds for my prostate (Hardingle??)
The doc has been treating me for chonic prostitits. I also took cipro, flagyl, doxy and zithromax prior to the shot but none were useful against staph.
The doctor took a culture and said it was a staph infection. I was treated with two rounds of cipro. It seemed to get better but now, 5 days later, the discharge has started again. I was told that I would need a wash out surgery. Does anyone know what that is? I haven't been able to discuss it with my surgeon yet because it is the weekend. Thanks to you all.

Sorry to bother you again , have been on the Cipro for thirty days now and no relief,still a dull pain at the tip of my penis as well as discomfort, and increases before and after urination.no discharge though.
A couple years ago I had fever, diarrhea and bloody stools and they checked it. Found out I had campylobacter and gave me Cipro. I saw improvement within the first couple days.
If you're not seeing any improvement at all (fever gone? easing of blood in stool and urine, general feeling better) then you should at least give the doctor's office a call. You don't want to add anemia and dehydration to the problems you have already.
t have much experience with microbiology and complex problems and just give a quick fix to and emergency and get you out. Why do you need it cultured? To determine if it is Staph aureus and if it is MRSA. Of course to make sure it isn't resistant to the antibiotic you are going to take. MRSA can be resistant to Clindamycin and a lot of other drugs.
Of course we have bacteria on our skin. That is not the question. Do you have Staph or MRSA on your skin? It is possible.
So about 6 months ago I got a rash on my ankle that I paid no attention to until it spread a little and eventually led to a boil and staph infection. I was treated for that and then got folliculitis that was infected with staph. Hairs were growing sideways out of my face and arms. I was prescribed cipro for 10 days and within the first hour of my first dose I f could feel burning in my arms exactly where hairs were going to protrude out of sideways.
I had never even thought that the little glands on my breasts were in danger of becoming infected with Staph. But one of them did! I work at a pharmacy and HAD long nails. But after getting Staph on my nipple I no longer have long nails and wash my hands very frequently. I had noticed a pea sized, red bump on my areola and figured one of the little glands was clogged. So I put a hot wash cloth on the area in hopes it would loosen the gland and all would be well.
At the beginning of the week I was having symptoms similar to a UTI that prompted me to go to the ER .Especially,after I took cipro and stuffed a oral probiotic in my vagina.Also when I itch down there I tend to scratch until I am raw. While at the ER the doctor noticed my open wound and said it looked like a hair bump but now I'm seeing other little bumps but they are not clustering nor are they crustering over they are just healing.I do tend to get hair bumps from shaving.
I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.
My Mother suffers from sinus infections and she has found that her Chiropractor successfully treats her by draining her sinus.
