3 days later i was hospitalized with infectious colitis. stayed 3 days and they did cat scan(radiation) and had me on flagyl and cipro very strong broad spectrum drugs. ever since then i have occasional gut discomfort and diarrhea. lately i seem to have symptoms more often. i went to a gastroenterologist and he suggest limitiing alcohol consumption.. i stopped drinking my beer and drank tons of milk hoping to soothe my stomach..
All the tests of the stool, urine, ultrasound of gall bladder all came back negative - healthy liver, gall bladder, pancreas and kidneys. I was on Cipro and did fine for one week and now am taking Nexium and starting Culturelle tonight. I had a severe stomach attach for 3 days when tried Lactaid milk. I am now off of Cipro since no bacteria found in stool.
the discharge varies in time morning and night mainly and usualy have to milk it out and varies in could from clear to twice being white could had be seaman because did have an erection before this
so here it is
1. what is the benefit of a swab test compaired to the urine ?
2. would it show i had a bacteria infection just from the swab test or is urine needed to?
3. are the urine test a good identification that i didnt have an infection because of the finding s being 0-1 wbc?

I am taking Cipro for bacteria. I also take lactulose, furosemide and amelioride and milk thistle. I have been really sick and am just wondering if these flu-like situations (liver and spleen pain and joint pain and fever and fatigue) are symptoms of further damage to my liver or what is happening to cause these feelings every so often. I also have a navel hernia that is quite painful with the ascites at times.
I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.

Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.

I have taken cipro a lot too and it hasn't bothered me before. But I recently took it and after 1 dose my heart started acting weird. Any antibiotic of that class can cause heart palpitations. Unfortunately, most of the antibiotics I can take have that potential side effect, I'm allergic to penicillin.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
no, it will effect the medication and either make it not work or intensfy. it will say on the bottle of the medication not to take the meds. with alcohol.
food habbits and stressful situations may aggravte this,avoid milk,milk sweets,spicy foods,legumes,cabbages,cauliflower,try to identify any particular type food aggravates the problem and avoid those foods.take two yellow bananas at night time for bowel evacuation,a course of antiobiotics like cipro may get rid of excessive bacterial growth in ur gut,ur nasal smell perception is desensitised.dont sit in one position for prolonged time.make sure u empty ur bowel fully in morning.
I had to take 20 days of Cipro for prostate infection. The e coli count was > 100,000. It took 4 or 5 day to take the temperature down and then it was a matter of getting through the 20 days. Right after I got off of Cipro (~2days) I was feeling constipated, A week after (yesterday) I realized my spleen was swollen (first time ever). Wife is a nurse and new where it was located.
Please be very careful with Cipro. Look up all the side effects of this on the computer ASAP. I was on cipro 250mg for one month then doctor raised it to 500mg. I no sooner took the larger dose than I started to jerk in sleep and had problems with numbness/tingling in both arms from elbow to finger tips. Shook like i had parkinsons.

t been able to confirm. As a result, I went to a pharmacy and got a 10-pack of 500mg Cipro and a 3 pack of 500mg Zipro. I took 1000mg of Cipro and 1000mg of Zipro yesterday and another 500mg of each today. Have a I taken enough of these drugs to kill both bacterial infections, and if so, how long should it take to clear up an infection if I do indeed have one?
Regarding the urinary tract infection It sounds like the organism causing the problem is getting resistant to the drug Cipro and you may need a new prescription. Also, Cipro may be causing you to throw up. it is possible you have a kidney infection still and it is causing pain that is radiating to the front.
In your case because you had not been to the gym for a long time, your sore shoulder muscles may have nothing to do with the cipro and it may just be coincidental.
When you have not exercised for a long time and then start to exercise again, everything feels sore and tender.
Had you been exercising at the gym non stop and got the muscle soreness when taking the cipro, then yes, I would have suspected that may have been a side effect from the cipro.
However, I would have been exposed 3. 4, and 5 days after finishing cipro. That is why I was considering testing and trying to see how long I would need to wait after taking the antibiotic.
As you indicated, I think that I can be experiencing prostate related symptoms. In trying to research prostate problems online, I think I may have made matters worse for me.
