Cipro and bloating

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro and bloating

cipro

At a desperate attempt, I brought all the empty bottles of cipro and other drugs prescribed for my past UTI's to show that this wasn't something I was making up. I hoped the Dr. would give me a refill since explained I was an un-insured student and that I don't have enough money to keep coming to a doctor for them to give me the same drug that only costs $4 at Walmart. This is not a habit forming drug like vicodin, it's an antibiotic.
Turned out I had an ovarian cyst which resolved itself but caused me GREAT stress and worry, had 2 pelvic U/S to confirm this. Just after stopping the cipro I stared having gas/bloating on the left side (which I at first attributed to the left ovarian cyst). It wasn't every night but most evenings during May. Then in June went thru andother HUGE stress, lost the contract on our house which we are trying to sell and nearing foreclosure...so went from super relief to MAJOR grief.
Regardless, I get monthly kidney panels done to check my function and they have been normal. I do suffer from anxiety and depression and started back on my antidepressant in April but my pain/inflammation has not improved. What could it be? I am fine with the majority of possibilities except cancer.
3 days later i was hospitalized with infectious colitis. stayed 3 days and they did cat scan(radiation) and had me on flagyl and cipro very strong broad spectrum drugs. ever since then i have occasional gut discomfort and diarrhea. lately i seem to have symptoms more often. i went to a gastroenterologist and he suggest limitiing alcohol consumption.. i stopped drinking my beer and drank tons of milk hoping to soothe my stomach..
Real bad abdominal pain and cramps along with diarrhea and vomiting and pain in the upper right back. My husband made me go to the ER and they did a abdominal CT scan when they said looked good except for imflammation of the colon(intestines). Sent me home with cipro antibiotic tried taking it x 2 days but had real bad muscle aches so Dr told me to stop taking it.
ciprofloxacin does cause an upset stomach, bowel changes like diarrhea or constipation, bloating etc.You have stopped taking cipro 3 weeks back so the constipation should not persist so long. You need to think of other possibilities causing constipation like a low fiber diet, lack of physical activity, irritable bowel syndrome, medications if you are taking any, change in daily routine like travelling etc or any problem with the colon or rectum.
Has anyone used cipro and found that it stopped constant diahrea that followed a colectomy? This discussion is related to Constant diarrhea after colectomy.
I was put on cipro, 250mg, 2x a day, for five days. I finished the prescription but got massive diarrhea every day. I know diarrhea can wash some drugs out of your system -- is cipro one of them? Symptoms are gone, urine is clear, and testing with AZO strips is negative but I don't know how accutrate AZO strips are.
In early april I was diagnosed with Chronic Prostatitis (which I can remember suffering from for a while and thinking it was bloating/cramps). I started taking cipro 500 twice a day and I noticed significant improvement of my condition, even though I'm not 100% cured.
Its obvious you are having a problem too with your digestion, when I experience alot of gas and the bloating and shooting pain I went and seen an acupuncture. I know alot of people won't consider it but it really takes the bloating down, obviously it will not solve the problem but for me it took the bloating down.
Also made worst by, you guessed it, oil, grease and alcohol. Have you noticed certin foods trigger your bloating and pain? Take ALL fats/alcohol out of your diet. Maybe its from the cipro, maybe its an ulcer?
3 nights later 2/11/05 out of nowhere, sharp abdominal pains, burping, cramping, bloating, gas, loose stools 3 times this night. And this has occurred every day or night since, with varying severity. This morning seems a very slight improvement. One bout of urgency/cramping followed by loose stools. Improvement perhaps because I am eating very little and bland foods. Earlier in week some of the night episodes produced thin looking stools.
Oh I have diverticulitis, and it can cause the bloating. There are no stds that would cause this, so if it happens, it is usually something going on in the stomach, colon or bowel.
The unabsorbed fructose is feasted on by bacteria, causing bloating and gas, and can also cause diarrhea. You can test for this with a breath test, or try a fructose free diet (google "sue shepard fructose"). The person pointing to gluten-free nutrition brings up an additional point: gluten-free nutrition is typically free of fructans, a form of sugar which can cause issues like fructose above.
Currently my symptoms are stomach pain, constipation, diarhea, bloating, lower back (kydney?) pain, urinary urgency and white blood cells in my urine. The white blood cells were found after doing a urinalysis which showed no bacteria. I've been to the gastroenterologist and he suspected IBS but that doesn't seem to explain the white blood cells. High fiber diet and lots of water seem to help the pain but I think there is still something wrong.
One week later it was a little better and than 5-7 days later my fatique and bloating with excessive gas increased,.
I also felt bladdar pressure and a lot of bloating... and eventually ended up with a UTI infection three weeks ago....white cells and blood in my urine. after two rounds of antibiotics, that has seemed to clear up. However, now I am left with this constant cramping and feeling of pressure. My upper abdomial area is also uncomfortable and I ended up taking Previsit for bad GERD which my doctor contributed to the cipro.
Now I have lower abdominal pains and stomach bloating. My feet also bloats. I'm afraid to eat and have lost some lbs. but not enough. I also have side and lower back pains. I went to my doctor and they found blood in my urine. She gave me cipro and needed vicodin in the end of a week's worth of meds. The pain has come back in a week. The pain brings me to tears.

I began to have stomach aches and gurgling. This quickly turned into severe diarrhea, cramping and bloating. I went to see a doctor in PA, where I was visiting. Doctor gave me Flaygl and Cirpo which made me even more sick. I experienced all the terrible side effects of these drugs from dizziness and confusion, to diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, head aches- the full works. I took the Flagyl first- when I came off of it I felt just OK for a few days, then all my original symptoms came right back.

I am taking cipro for bacteria. I also take lactulose, furosemide and amelioride and milk thistle. I have been really sick and am just wondering if these flu-like situations (liver and spleen pain and joint pain and fever and fatigue) are symptoms of further damage to my liver or what is happening to cause these feelings every so often. I also have a navel hernia that is quite painful with the ascites at times.
This caused severe pain, bloating and diarrhea. Although those symptoms are gone, whenever I eat anything coarse or spicy it causes irritation. This starts a couple of minutes after eating it and continues as the food makes its way through my GI track. The only thing that relieves it is to take a laxative and flush it out of my system. It has been getting progressively worse, and now my diet consists of mostly whey, brewer’s yeast, milk and yogurt.
But my abdomen is feeling pains every now and then left and right and all around. I changed my diet from 30 mg of fiber down to 10... I do not have the insurance and I would not be able to pay any surgery. Somebody said drink 10 glasses of water everyday. 3 servings of veggies one day and three servings of fruits next day. Is there anybody there who knows how to avoid surgery and just get these colon sacs stay liek that without pain ? I am trying to drink water as much as I can...
