553096 tn?1267348927 My doctor has recommended Cipralex (escitalopram) to combat side-effects. I am retreating and at Week 10 of 48 (Genotype 1). I do not have prior experience with this medicine. Has anyone had experience taking this medication. Was there improvement in taking this medication and any side-effects experienced. I look forward to hearing your experiences. Thanks.

Avatar f tn What would be your suggestion for how to switch from the Paxil to cipralex? I know that 20mg Paxil equals about 10mg cipralex. What rate would you decrease + increase? Perhaps you could give me a rough outline of how to make the transition? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn I have been taking Escitalopram 10mg (aka Cipralex / Lexapro) for 31 days today. For this past week Ive been having repeated very bad morning anxiety/ morning terror. I wake up in a state of panic, palpitations, difficulty breathing, hot flashes, feeling of extreme terror, and I'm afraid to start my day. This sometimes continues for 3-4 hours and improves gradually if I take my Seroquel 100mg. But some days it continues until I go to bed.
Avatar n tn Escitalopram (Lexapro) is the S-stereoisomer (enantiomer) of the earlier Lundbeck drug Celexa. They should be very similar. Cipralex is also the same drug. If either Celexa or Cipralex is cheaper you should consider them good alternatives.
Avatar n tn Hello! I started taking Cipralex (Escitalopram) a week ago. Only 5mg a day - it was prescribed for panic attacks. I have noticed that my resting heart beat dropped to mid 50. I don't feel bad or dizzy though. Should I be worried? p.s. Forgot to mention that around a month ago I quit smoking. Male, 45 y.o.
1001742 tn?1252685847 Cipralex is an anti-anxiety pill. Escitalopram belongs to the group of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It works by increasing levels of a neurotransmitter called serotonin in the brain. Increased serotonin levels can lead to an improved mood.
Avatar n tn I have taken 5 mg Cipralex (Lexapro, Escitalopram) for 6 days but I am stopping because I cannot deal with the side effects. Am I likely to develop any type of withdrawal symptoms after such a short period of time on the medication? I experienced withdrawal symptoms when weaning off Paxil three years ago.
Avatar m tn according to the FDA analysis of depression trials common side effects for the highest approved dose of escitalopram are insomnia (14% vs. 4% for placebo)," see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escitalopram#Side_effects_and_drug_interactions How long have you been taking it? What dosage? Sometimes side effects dissappear after a short time.
Avatar m tn My anxiety is very severe and I am unable to relax or sleep. I am taking cipralex(escitalopram) 10 mg including .25mg rivotril 2 times since one week and also taking bisoprolol (beta blocker) 5mg for my blood pressure. Please someone help me to desensitize this fear, if I am unable to remove the fear, my heart problems will be increase.
Avatar f tn /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) ( Am slowly weaning from Cipralex/Escitalopram as I gained weight on it and other side effects) Am down to 5 mg of Cipralex at nite along with 50 mg SEROQUELXR for sleep (have been taking the SeroquelXR 50mg for approx. 6 months now as when I'd initially weaned from the Cipralex I was experiencing some sleeplessness etc.) For approx. 3 months now, I have had a tic occurring with my lower right eye lid; quite frequently and noticeably.
Avatar n tn what vitamins and natural remedies (herbs) should i avoid when on cipralex and seoquel ?
4205995 tn?1351169508 I did get prescribed today cipralex 10mg that is same type (Escitalopram) medicine, but I believe the one you got is newer, and better. Im not sure Im going to take it.. take a read on my post: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Anxiety/Doctor-says/show/1900329 (extensive, but very important, maybe you feel like me in some things?
950277 tn?1247274551 celexa generic citalopram and brand name cipram in the the eastern countries is produced by the same Danish company which produces cipralex/lexapro/escitalopram. In different forums one finds many pts using it. it's weaker than lexapro, exactly half its therapeutic dose in maximum and minimum. BP pts take wellbutrin, celexa, lexapro in the majority of the cases. A few take seroxat/paxil to go with lamictal.
Avatar f tn who said that the worst should be over by now (not) and that being an anxious person my original symptoms are back with a vengence he said I should not go back on Clonzapam but take Cipralex ( escitalopram oxalate). This scares me, what do I do. Dr. Mark Lupo your opinion please?
Avatar f tn lexapro/cipralex/escitalopram I took it until yesterday for 2 months. it's very good but I had to stop it as I wasn't on an MS like you. True it works fast. In different forums people either take it or its cousin cipram/celexa/citalopram incidentally same danis company. Or wellbutrin too is well tolerated by BP pts. Of course don't exceed dose otherwise will bring mania but i assume not for you as you take lamictal.
Avatar n tn You should speak to your doctor about the risks / benefits of stopping the cipralex. He/she may recommend adding a small dose of Wellbutrin to see if that will help with the decreased libido or try switching you to another SSRI to see if that helps.
Avatar f tn You're welcome - I am on escitalopram (cipralex) - 10mg a day. It took about 10 days to kick in, in fact for the first week I felt worse and seemed to have all the side effects but then in got way better. I know what you mean about being tired of fighting, it seems it's never going to get better and some days I still feel all I want to do is hide at home and not have to think or talk to anyone.
3178266 tn?1344536316 Simmons Pharma Law *** Epival (valproic acid): "Unlike many other medications, valproic acid has been studied in many pregnant women. Several studies have shown that the drug may cause birth defects in humans. Sometimes, these birth defects can be very severe, and pregnant women should not take valproic acid unless absolutely necessary.
Avatar n tn Also i am taking the anti-depressant cipralex (escitalopram) do you know if it is ok to take them together. Please reply if you know anything i am rather desperate to start taking reductil so i can lose weight and start living again!
Avatar n tn Unfortunately my experience with paxil/seroxat/paroxetine was really bad. It took quite a while for withdrawal. The reason i tried it, is that i read that it goes well with lamictal. my pdoc was a fool i suppose, i tried many pdocs at the time, and since i tried lexapro/escitalopram/cipralex and drove me manic after 2 months I switched to paxil to realise that it's stronger. they say the strongest is effexor. I suppose all SSRI aren't suitable for BP.
1066610 tn?1255561474 fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), sertraline (Zoloft), citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Cipralex, Essertia) can help. Psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy could also do the trick. Or a mixture of both. Have you seen: http://www.trich.org/ ?
Avatar n tn Uninterested in life and its activity) for several days after taking Cipralex (Escitalopram, 20 mg) on an empty stomach (while it is written on the leaflet that it is allowed and does not matter at all!!) and swallow herbs solution with it (rather than water)? 2. Is it a panic attack? and what is my diagnosis? and how to reverse the negative symptoms of doing so?
Avatar f tn m taking Rivotril (clonazepam) on a regular basis--actually increasing the dosage steadily for the past week--but I want to start Lexapro (escitalopram) and try to reduce the clonazepam. I want to hear from those of you who have taken this antidepressant for anxiety disorder and sleep issues and see if it's a good choice.
591470 tn?1218975186 I've had similar problems but was ok with Lexapro - or Escitalopram/Cipralex as it's called in the UK. A few years ago I had success with one of the antidepressants from the MAOI group, I think it was called Nardil. Unfortunately, you do have to be very careful about what you eat and drink because it can cause some very bad side effects - not a problem if you're aware of it though.
Avatar f tn lexapro/escitalopram/cipralex is one of the best AD's and not very strong, i.e. there others more potent but more harmful too. any BP pt is not advised to take AD's but this is a naive opinion because it's bound you get depressed one day unless miraculously you can beat it which i doubt. it's very good for anxiety too. it takes time 3 weeks at least to function as an AD but as antianxiety you will notice right away. tray to minimize your dose 5-10mg say, i.e.
