Cipralex and tiredness

Common Questions and Answers about Cipralex and tiredness

ciprodex

Hi Folks, Wondering if anyone who has been on Cipralex/Lexapro for awhile knows if the heavy sedation eventually goes away? I was on it for 3 months (for GAD) and was sleeping my life away, had no motivation etc and became horribly depressed as a result. I even tried weening down to 2.5 mg and was still debilitated by this side effect. I tried unsuccessfully switching to a different SSRI and have now been back on Lex for 2 weeks HOPING that the tiredness might eventually go away....
Hi all, I've always been a worrier, but I've been suffering from more severe anxiety off and on for a couple of years now (I've taken half-inderal before, and now take propranolol on an as-and-when basis; I've also had some counselling, but it was of limited benefit to me and my GP said he didn't think it or CBT would be the best option for me).
4th week i took cipralex 20 mg and it's then when i started having complications...cipralex side effects:constant severe headaches really tensed muscles and insomnia...my doctor said i had to come back to cipralex 15...i did but the side ffects are still present...xanax is back on track but my worst fear is that at some point most of the people get emotionly and phisically addicted to it...again u all should know that each one react differently to these kinds of medecine...
the side affects will be different per antidepressant although they all usually come with nausea, headache, tiredness/drowsiness, Loss of appetite or sometimes increase in appetite. But these symptoms usually only last 2 weeks til your used to them.
She said it's harder to treat anxiety that's been there for so long but then again I should notice the affects of the drug sooner. I've already tried Cipralex and remeron with no results, so I'm praying with all my heart this one works. The thing is Im in school full time and I couldn't even go in today because of how horrible I feel. Will this feeling get better? How long should I take the medication before I will start to feel it's affects?
He acknowledged that like yourself, I have fragile bipolar and knows the adverse reactions I had to AD's in the past. He suggested I take cipralex AD at very low dose of 5mg for the depression and to discontinue straight away if it causes any manic symptoms such as insomnia. I said I would go home and think about it and go back in 2 days - what do you think adel? or anyone else for that matter?
I think you should definatley follow through on doctor's orders while you continue to sort this out. Take your meds as prescribed unless you discuss changes with your doctor, and see a psychiatrist. Depression is not just about feeling down. It is a physical disease, and tiredness, "fogines," and the like are very real symptoms of it. Unlike a psychologist or a counselor, a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can decide on courses of meds, lifestyle changes, etc.
Insite and meds have helped with my moods (although I am cycling every few weeks as ever).Leathergy and unbelievable tiredness(16hrs sleep) along with aching joints and foggy head and others. These have just got worse not better. Most days I cant even cook a meal. Although I have felt like this for years I have thought it to be part of depession. My family have been on at me as it is so extream.
In March of this year I started to have episodes of extreme fatigue/ tiredness- to the point where I wouldnt be able to stand/ sit/ or talk; I would only be able to lay down but not necessarily sleep. I figured it was my period but this didnt stop when i finished my cycle. A few weeks later I began to have prickling sensations in my calves, fingers, arms, back, and a creepy crawly feeling (like bugs) on my face.
Woozy and weird are hard words to say yes to but they sound appropriate. Woozy may be a combination of tiredness, lack of concentration, disinterest and weird may be that plus a want to isolate, lack of concentration, sleep disturbance (erratic sleep) and of course, eating the wrong food at the wrong time or even not eating at all. In my worst period I basically forgot to eat.
