Cipralex and caffeine

Common Questions and Answers about Cipralex and caffeine

ciprodex

Hi I am 33 years old and relatively fit. I have been taking cipralex for approx 3 months, 10mg once a day and have noted substantial benefits. I have also stopped taking any alcohol. Despite being very happy with the medication overall, I continue to suffer from drowsiness and the need to sleep more - up to 12 hours a day compared to my normal 7 hours a day before I used to take cipralex.
I seem to have had a spaced out feeling for a while, all feel pre-occupied, confused, forgetful, is this part of depression? Also I have been taking Cipralex for a while now as my thyroid went under before I had it zapped with radio active iodine 2 years ago. I am trying to come off these tablets via my doctors advise but it there anything that will help me along?
Not the salary but i work from 9am-3pm hellerious. So i really wish to keep it. I asked the 1st pdoc about welbutrin or cipralex he said cipralex yet i know that the 2nd is better tolerated by BP i.e. in not driving them manic. He said welbutrin is activating so he prefers cipralex in fact both of them do. Usually the min dose for depression is 10mg but they admit me on 5mg like before.
Intermittently I have taken Anti-depresant drugs which include Fluoxitene, Cipran and Cipralex. Afer taking drug for sometime I have hang over effect and hence I leave them. Cipralex used to suit me, but now I have started developing Rash with its use. I am very much confused as what to do. I want to keep studying but the problem is that I do not do well in exams because of poor memory. I am a medical doctor but not doing Clinical work and involved as Training Specialist.

I think I am suffering depression so my doctor has prescribed me lorazepam 1ml 3 times a day, and cipralex 10ml 1 a day. I have boughts of nausea, not actually throwing up just heaving which may be anxiety, I have been on the lorazapam for two months and the cipralex for three weeks but no possitive effect yet. Can you tell me when I am likely to feel an improvement and start getting back to normal............
Eliminate alcohol, stop smoking and avoid caffeinated beverages. Practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation and avoid becoming overanxious. This will help to reduce the severity of symptoms. Get professional counseling if required. And Keep It!! Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
One thing ive noticed is my anxiety symptoms are massivley amplified after a night of drinking, the more i drank the night before the worse the anxiety. ive been on a few types of pills to stop it cipralex and athenolol neither had any effect what so ever. im starting to feel like just giving up with doctors and pills and just living my life with it, how ever i really dont want it to get worse. What else can i do to stop/reduce the panic and palpitations? i dont drink or smoke or even have any caffeine. i am overweight but recently went from 17st 7lbs to 14st 11lbs and still trying!
Take it early in the morning and avoid caffeine. The only problem was that it made me soooooooo happy. My son was in a serious condition in the hospital and I was way too happy about it so my pdoc had me go off of it. There are other things that work for depression for me. A small piece of dark chocolate 60-70% cocoa daily. Omega 3 Fish Oil daily. Bread it has serotonin. Sunshine before noon for a half an hour. B complex vitamins, a lack of B12 leads to feelings of guilt.
38, in shape, non smoker, no drugs, no meds, few drinks (Sat night only). I take Multi Vs, 250mg Mg, Omega 3, & K rich foods. No caffeine. Worrier at times.Family history of high BP. Mine's generally 130/80 - 117/72. I eat a relatively low NaCl diet. At 19 had 1st episode of PVCs. Infrequently til 12/09. Since then they come & go. I can go 2-4 months w/close to none (I can feel every single one by the way--confirmed on EKG test).
Stopping the caffeine is wonderful, all that caffeine will really get you going, I avoid it totally. Wish I could get rid of the ringing in my ears, I've had it for several years. It's very loud and if I dwelled on it I'm sure it would make me crazy (crazier). Do let us know how your test turns out, and there is a lot of support for your anxiety here, so stay with us as I"m sure others will jump on with some great advice for you. Take care...
but thing is that i have tried my level best but i can not ignore pvc as i want to come out from my pvc problem. i was also patient of IBS but not now. i also feel chest burning daily. i am also taking cipralex 10 mg for anxiety from last week. should i take magnesium ? have a nice day.
Well at least merry for them but not for me as I still have no explanation why I am getting these. My doctor started me on Cipralex because she says I have anticipatory anxiety. I say yeah who wouldn't with all these flip and skips. She says that everyone would get PAC's and PVC's every day but some people just choose to ignore them or can't feel them. I question who in the right might would not feel it when their heart constantly stops.
I was at one time on Lyrica,Cymbalta, Cipralex for the fibromyalgia. Also on prescription strength reactin for allergies( food related), thyroid medication for Hashimoto's thyroiditis and I take multivitamins, because I have so many food sensitivities I can't eat very well, Omega 3,6,9, calcium and vitamin C. I'm not always religious about taking the vitamins-sometimes I forget and sometimes my stomach just isn't up to them. I've gone off the Lyrica and the Cipralex.
If you disrupt this long thought process, it won't happen (I'm two for two in fighting off flashbacks already). Avoid caffeine because it speeds you up and LSD is often laced with amphetamines. It was largely responsible for my first flashback, and wholly responsible for my second. There’s caffeine in chocolate by the way so don’t have too much. -Anxiety sets it when your body doesn't understand what its going through (much like it did when you tripped).
I feel medication helps to a certain extent, but you should really try exercise, diet, no alcohol, no caffeine, sleep, herbs, vitamins, CBT therapy, classes, support groups, anything but medications if possible. Or if you can swing it, very low dosages of the meds with positive life style changes. It takes complete dedication and motivation for change, and the knowing it doesn't happen overnight. I feel it can be done....and that's why I am doing it. I am not going for 100% happy.

I sometimes get a thing where my heart skips a beat, and takes a few really slow beats afterward before going back to normal. If this is what's happening, it's probably harmless. I noticed that too much caffeine increases it though. If you drink a lot of caffeine, try cutting back for a while and see if that helps. Just don't go cold turkey, because you might get really nasty headaches and other unpleasant side effects.
I'd eliminate things which may make the heart muscle 'jumpy' like caffeine or other stimulants, alcohol the byproducts of which can irritate the cardiac cells causing PVCs or other rhythms known as 'Holiday Heart', limit stress, eat a healthy diet with some potassium rich foods such as a banana or even better; canteloupe which has twice the amount of a banana per amount.
going to the doctors to get several tests done that all came back normal, went to a therapist, tried exercising, completely got rid of caffeine in my diet... NOTHING worked. That's when I broke down and said I NEED to at least give medication a try. My therapist first put me on zoloft... I had pretty bad nausea with that and it didn't seem to work so we switched to celexa. I have been on that for about 10 weeks now and I can't say enough about it...
What you have to remember is that palpitations are perfectly natural and can often be caused by exhaustion or stimulants like caffeine. Your heart is an incredibly strong muscle, and it won’t stop or explode simply because it’s beating hard and fast. A healthy heart can beat fast all day long and not be in any danger. Missed Heartbeats The medical term for missed heartbeats is extrasystoles. A missed heartbeat is usually an extra beat between two normal beats.
