Despite being very happy with the medication overall, I continue to suffer from drowsiness and the need to sleep more - up to 12 hours a day compared to my normal 7 hours a day before I used to take cipralex.

I am so worried that it is something so serious. I have seen 4 different doctors and had blood work and urinalysis done and always given anxiety as diagnosis. I am currently taking lexapro for about 3 weeks now.. seems to help a little but annoying head pressure/pain will not seem to go away. Does anyone have any advice?
It quickly fixed my depression/anxiety problems, and I feel okay mood-wise. Although for the first few months, the libido change (MUCH lower) and anorgasmia had been hard to deal with in the begining, but seems to be better. The only thing is that I've noticed over the last several months an effect that is rather disturbing and I don't know if it's due to lexapro? Kind of an inability to think straight sometimes, or loss of short term memory. Just an overall feeling of almost a blank mind.

I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
My father self-medicated with alcohol due to anxiety over heart disease. He had a heart attack at 42 and quadruple bypass surgery as well as both carotids bypassed at 60. His heart disease and anxiety really ruled our family so I can relate to how you are feeling. It's very difficult to know what to do in this situation. I always wished that I had gotten my Dad in to see a counselor or gotten him some proper medication for his anxiety but he was much too stubborn for this.
I have noticed that alcohol works but after I began to become addicted and became an alcoholic. I am now on anti-depressants, cipralex 10mg and this helps sometimes but the symptoms appear from time to time. What can this be? Please help me, what do I do?
So at 30 years old I am terrified of medications, terrified of my heart giving out from all the years of strain I have done to it with alcohol and cigarettes, and can't sleep. This is not a way to live.

I guess I'm still hoping for a miracle drug since the combination I'm on still leaves me irritable/angry and/or depressed. I believe cutting out the alcohol and the anti-craving drug have made my irritability and anger worse. Thank you for your time.
I don't drink alcohol, and I don't take any medication other than above and the occassial tylenol for a headache or some such. The pain started suddenly, I woke me up, and there was also a lot of pressure from under my ribs, right across the front of my chest, undernethe my breasts. It was uncomfortable, but felt a little like i just really needed to burp. The pain was worse when i breathe in , and lessen slighty when i breathe out.
So instead of prescribing me a Testosterone Treatment, he prescribed me cipralex 10mg. (a guy I know took its test and it gave him 19, where I have 8, he feels active and energetic) Doc said, I could choose between that (cipralex 10mg) or going to the shrink.. so I asked, what did he believed could help, and his answer was: well, if you dont think there is "a reason" for you to be depressive, then there is no need to try to find out what doesnt exist at the shrink!..
No amount of sleep is enough. My real problem in the last year or so is drugs and alcohol. I am not a regular user, but before my doctor switched my meds, my anxiety was so bad that I needed to smoke weed at least twice a day just to get out of bed, and concentrate on studying so that I wasn't so anxious all the time. Before that, it was alcohol. I was drinking quite often.
In the meantime ensure to develop good lifestyle measures to combat depression. Exercise regularly. Eliminate alcohol, stop smoking and avoid caffeinated beverages. Practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation and avoid becoming overanxious. This will help to reduce the severity of symptoms. Get professional counseling if required. and Keep It!! Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Hi guys, I'm a University student and at the age where I'd like to be having great sexual experiences. The problem is, I am on cipralex and I haven't had an orgasm ever since I started taking it...The medication doesn't really seem to be helping as much as Id like either. The anxiety/depression is still there, but It is helping with my insomnia a bit. The sexual dysfunction is pretty stressful as well, but I do feel my anxiety is severe enough that I need to be on medication...
drank my last drink and went home remembering everything until about 2 hrs later when I layed down to goto bed and don't remember is that just me going to sleep or is that a blackout? I'm worried something happend while I slept could it be possible if I didn't drink for 2 hrs before bed and remember everything?
I have started taking the anti-depressant cipralex and so far I have been feeling better with the only side effect of having trouble sleeping. But from what I read within 6 weeks new brain cells should already have grown really well. Anyone else use anti-depressants in their recovery and how are you feeling now?
He acknowledged that like yourself, I have fragile bipolar and knows the adverse reactions I had to AD's in the past. He suggested I take cipralex AD at very low dose of 5mg for the depression and to discontinue straight away if it causes any manic symptoms such as insomnia. I said I would go home and think about it and go back in 2 days - what do you think adel? or anyone else for that matter?
Some antipsycotic meds serve more than one purpose, for example, the Seroquel I am on now also affects seizures, you should look it up and you may see what he is talking about. I also take Abilify and cipralex. If you have decided to deal with your BP that is great, make sure that you research the meds you are prescribed. At the beginning I was given quite a few meds that either didnt work or gave me side effects.
Regarding Lexapro, which I believe is the US brand name of what in Sweden (I'm swedish) is known as cipralex (active substance escitalopram), and actually also paroxetin (Paxil), I share the experience of stuffy nose and the runs, but both during regular use.
The only symptom that is still present is a dull, traveling pain that travels from my urethra to my prostate and testicles throughout the day. No discharge and the burning happened once and never again. I get prostititis 2 to 3 times a year. Quite severely in every case. The last round last three months with Cipro being the medication of choice. I've been getting it for over a decade with great frequency.
I swell more but the apin is decreased. Have you tried Cymbalta and cipralex and Lyrica. You said you can't take fibro meds but there are so many I'm hoping you will find something you maybe haven't tried and can take. I would also think about an ANA test and a thyroid test if you haven't already done them. I'm sure you know as a nurse that thyroid issues and Lupus can also cause pain etc.
