I am considering switching from Levitra to Cialis. Have read that Cialis has a longer half life (up to 36 hrs vs. 5-7 hrs.). Anyway, I have tried extending Levitra's half-life by taking a second dosage a few hours later, but no matter what, the max effects still really fade off 5-7 hours after the initial dosage. Wondering if anyone knows why this might be... and why a second dose would not extend the effects? Just helps with planning.
I have some erectile dysfunction due to having to be on beta blockers. I've been prescribed Cialis 5mg once a day, but haven't gotten up the courage to take one yet. Kind of afraid to be honest. I know many many take it with no problem, but I have a tendancy to feel my heart race more than usual during sex and at random times, which is why I take the beta blockers, but I'm not having a normal sex life. I know my doctor knows what's best.
I am 51 & have been using Cialis 20 mg for about a year it worked great for about 10 months. It has stopped working the last 2 months. I had my testosterone checked it was 392. My PSA result was 0.68 ng/mL. But I do have some mild prostate pain. I was married for 31 years & have had ED problems for years. I was divorced a year & a half ago. & have had a beautiful new woman in my life for the last 14 months or so.
If you're worried about side effects, I'd start with half, or even a quarter, of a pill because Cialis lasts so long. That is, if it turns your face red, it may stay that way for 24 hours, versus just a few hours for Viagra. You can always take more later, but you can't undo what you've taken!
I read some place that men with small penises (my penis has 13 cm when engorged ) need to take smaller doses of Cialis ( or Viagra ) because, if they don't, they can have anorgarmia ( the penis has erections but you can't ejaculate ). Is that true ?
I ask this because that happened to me. I'm 70 y.o.
However, it does, or certainly can, block messages from brain to penis resulting in the collapse of erection. Before trying Viagra or Cialis it is always worth trying to de-emphasis intercourse, just enjoy each other's bodies then, in a week or so you take over while he just lies there and does nothing.
I was once given a 20mg Cialis pill by a friend and broke it in half. So I took around 10mg dosage. Had prostrate surgery 6 months ago, benign prostrate hyper something, it was enlarged. So ED has caused some changes. Can't help you with the sex life part, as I'm a female, but I can share my experience switching from a beta blocker to diltiazem. I have been taking beta blockers for 8 years for SVT and afib. I had an episode of afib and was in the hospital is Sept. They took me off the beta blocker and put me on diltiazem. It didn't control my heart rate like the beta blocker. My resting heart rate went from upper 60s to the low 80s.
So I'm starting Cialis 5mg a day as needed for erectile dysfunction due to side effects from Metoprolol. I've cut down my dose of Metoprolol to about 37.5mg a day. I have no lack of interest, just my penis goes soft without manual stimulation. If I stroke it, fine, but if I'm having sex, for the last year or so, since I started the meds, it will periodically go soft without constant stroking which is highly annoying.
I'm only 33 too.
